I have stayed at the other Parador in Santo Domingo de la Calzada previously and I had thought I had booked that one so I was a little confused when I tried to check in and was told I was in the wrong Parador. However, when I arrived at the correct Parador, which is just a few hundred metres from the main square, I was pleased with my mistake. What an impressive place, absolutely beautiful and much nicer than the one in the main square. The check-in was excellent, super helpful chap on the desk and the breakfast was, as usual for a Parador, superb. If I can stay here again on another trip I will.

Sumptuous buffet breakfast with far more options than I could eat! Beautiful and classy antique style decor both in common areas and in the room itself. Great view of the convent from room window. Full range of toiletries provided including hair conditioner, body lotion and shower cap.

I had difficulty finding the parador because its location as shown on Apple maps is 250m off! (The parador is in fact attached to the San Francisco convent.) The restaurant for dinner is at the other parador opposite the cathedral. The air con took all night to cool the room down to 20C from 24C.

What a beautiful place to stay whilst walking the Camino Frances. An interesting historic building beautifully restored. We loved our room which looked over the front garden area. The bed was very comfortable with quality linen. The shower hot and it was wonderful to have a bath to take a soak in after walking. Such a treat having conditioner and body lotion provided. Lovely lounge areas to relax in. We didn't want to leave!

There are two Paradors in this town, we went to the wrong one first, our fault and the mistake was quickly rectified by walking a bit further.

Lovely building (but from the web site information we thought we had booked the Parador de Santo Domingo which is in the centre of the old town . This branch was a 10 minute walk away which meant a rainy walk for our evening meal which we had booked as part of a half board deal - assuming it was on site). Having said that our room was clean and comfortable.

No restaurant or bar . No tea / coffee making facilities in the room.

The breakfast was outstanding. Interestingly they had white and red wines and bubbles available with breakfast. The room was spotlessly clean. Dinner was delicious with a carefully thought out menu including regionally sourced food, produce and wines. Perfect luxury treat on the camino.

The room was quite a walk away down several long labyrinth like corridors. It felt as if they had given us the room furtherest away. Also dinner was not onsite but a walk to the main Parador near the town square. Considering we had already walked 30km that day it was challenging.

Special thank you to Dario at the front desk and Ana from the kitchen for their very professional attitude, helpfulness and friendliness! It makes such a difference when you're so far from home to have a friendly welcoming face where you are staying!

There was a particularly rude older woman working at the reception desk when I arrived, who made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome from my first messages. I would like to suggest she finds a job that helps her to enjoy life a little more...or at least learn something from her colleagues Dario and Ana about the importance of professionalism and attitude in tourism.

Lovely room in a beautiful building, good staff, comfy bed , a mountain of freebies/toiletries - brush comb, toothbrush , razor all provided as well as usual stuff.

No kettle or any hot drink making equipment at all in the room - the staff did say I could go and get a jug of hot water from them at the front desk when we wanted it. It would make more economic / practical sense to provide a kettle that we ended up buying for EU 15.00 and not dishing out all the brush / combs/ razor / toothbrush /paste etc that really each customer isn't going to need as you bring your own. Perhaps have those at reception as a request item. I gave all my stash to a homeless person in Valladolid the next day No secured parking - just 'on street' public parking.

Gorgeously preserved historical building. Definitely a must stay if passing through Santo Domingo de la Calzada. We knew it was an old historic building but was surprised it was actually an old Franciscan monastery (our favourite Order as far as Orders go :) Wonderful for history buffs and comfort-seekers alike. Breakfast buffet plus ala carte (must have the cafe con leche, served classic style, very strong with delicious hot milk you can adjust proportion to your liking) was amazing in the delightful dining room, which was oddly cheery (in a good way) despite the rich surroundings of antiquity. Highly recommended!

There was nothing we didn't like per se but maybe a little more voluntary (and more accessible) information about the history of the building and rooms around the Parador building.

The paradores is a renovated former convent complex. The renovations are superb & the decor is very tasteful. We were very impressed. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was very good, as well. Plus it is located in the heart of Santo Domingo, near the cathedral and the Camino.

Nothing to report. An excellent stay!

Very nice hotel in an old convent. Many of the original features were kept. The front staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was large and clean.

The air conditioning was turned off for the season, so we had to have the windows open to cool the room. The location is very close to the main square, so it was quite noisy at night. The party outside goes on until 3am.
