Beautifully renovated place, very unique building and location. Great restaurant. People very friendly.

Though the staff was very friendly we were disappointed that even though you get an email offering help with reservations or questions, we twice didn’t even get an answer to our email (in between once we got a reply with a dinner reservation at their own restaurant). Overall considering the price and aimed at level of the hotel, the professionalism could be better. The breakfast was okay but not exceptional.

The rooms were very well thought-out, with so much attention to detail to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The bed was exceptionally comfortable and very wide. The breakfast buffet was really generous and varied, with superb fruit salad and lots of different options. We had dinner in Allegar and were SO impressed with the quality of dishes, it really deserves a Michelin star

Our room was an inner courtyard room so didn't receive much natural light and there wasn't much of a view.

Beautiful property with super nice modern design, wonderful courtyard and memorable breakfast (with perfect cappuccinos). A lot of spaces to relax (roof terrace, courtyard, lounge, bar area), really nice Michelin guide restaurant (recommend taking the long trip menu), number of great local wines on the menu as well. Upon arrival we were upgraded to the suite which had 180 degree views of the hills, vineyards and adjacent towns as well as the very impressive town’s church tower. It was all perfect - we hope to return one day!

The staff were all very friendly, welcoming and professional. The staff also made contact on a few occasions before we arrived to see if they could organise any trips for us and what type of pillows we would like. They even arranged with the local police to allow our vehicle through the road closure to access the hotel. The breakfast was exceptional, there was a great choice of food and other items were prepared on request. Coffee and tea were also freshly made on request. .The room was very well appointed, as was the bathroom. 1 class all round.

Our only problem was that when the occupants of the neighbouring room closed their door, it vibrated through the wall at our bedhead. If anything, it was a little overpriced but would probably stay there again.

We had an absolutely amazing stay at Santa María Briones. The setting for the hotel is perfect picture, exactly what we were hoping for for a visit to La Rioja and Spain. Upon check in, we were greeted very nicely (in English, thank you!) and were surprised by the upgrade of our room to one of the suites. A truly breathtaking view!! The bed was extremely comfortable, the stonework in the bathroom so luxurious, the armchair and couch also comfy, and there were USB plugs which was helpful. The hotel is immaculate - the decor, style, staff, cleanliness, and contemporary elements blended in seamlessly to the historical features of the building. Just wow. The other seating areas and bar in the hotel are very welcoming and cosy, everything picked out with care. It was too chilly for us to sit in the terrace but it was beautiful. While there is paid underground parking available, there was plenty of free parking street level at the back of the hotel. The breakfast, which was included, was excellent - coffee/tea and eggs with fixings made to your liking, and a buffet of everything you can imagine (pastries, tostados, fruit, muesli, meat, cheese, smoothies, juices etc). We did not go to either restaurant on site but that's our loss I'm sure! All the staff were very friendly and accommodating, and spoke English easily with us. I have to mention Olimpia specifically as she was very sweet and helped me numerous times. Thank you! Truly a 10/10 stay, so memorable, and 100% recommend the hotel and Briones, a beautiful Spanish village. You should visit!

Everything was fantastic

The property is meticulously maintained. The wood and earth tones of the property was very calming. We lived the large room on the 3rd floor with a panoramic view of the surrounding wine country and extremely comfortable bed and bathrobes! The on site restaurant served a great dinner and interesting wines. Breakfast was fabulous. Lovely stay and kudos to the warm and helpful staff.

The village of Briones was pretty much closed down for the time being lovely and charming though. Should arrange dinners as the choices were pretty limited.

Sensational location within the walls of the old town in the heart of the Rioja region, huge comfortable room, incredible restaurant for dinner with a tasting menu and paired wines, super breakfast, several tapas bars nearby, lovely helpful staff who spoke English, private gated parking is available but I was happy to park in a space along the quiet road right behind the hotel, we visited the wine museum which is a 20 minute walk away or a short drive and found it surprisingly interesting and you can taste and buy their own wine!

Everything about this hotel is outrageous, absolutely stunning. It is an enchanting place with a warm and inviting ambiance where every detail of the carefully chosen decor ( balancing modern with the historic building) speaks about the thoughtfulness of the owners. Each space is uniquely curated, something rare to find in larger establishments. The staff was exceptionally attentive and the cuisine at “Allegar” restaurant is fabulous. I can’t recommend it enough!

This place is beautiful and feels really special. The room was amazing and so was the rest of the hotel. The people on the front desk were really helpful with booking restaurants and giving recommendations. The food and service in the restaurant was top notch.

Really very very little. It the bar wasn’t manned so it took a bit of time to get someone to make a drink. The iron and ironing board were so small they were like toys and not particularly effective.

This was our splurge hotel at the end of the trip, and it was so worthwhile! Our room was wonderful, with a little welcome bottle of wine. Before we arrived, the hotel reached out with information about visiting the region, and their winery tour recommendation was a great one! The staff were super friendly and helpful. We didn't park at the hotel because there was a festival happening, but the hotel was really communicative about what to expect. Breakfast was delicious!!
