La Casa del Califa weaves a spell of other worldliness, tucked into one of Vejer's plazas. It includes a garden restaurant offering gourmet food, a gift shop, and an express food eatery featuring the best tasty bits. The staff provides exceptional service from the check in desk where serene Senora Nuria offers a kind hand to requests, to a gracious restaurant staff who make and serve beautiful food. The views of Vejer's amazing hilltop architecture from my room's window were amazing. I can't recommend it enough for a get-away, retreat, or a special occasion.

We were blown away by the restaurant and the bar which we had not realised were going to be anything so special!

Our dinner appointment did not seem to have been made for us which meant that we were asked to wait in the bar - this was very fortunate because we learned of the existence of the bar which was fabulous! If we had not had this happen I don't think we would have known about the bar at all and in fact it was my husband who suggested we eat at the hotel as we were there for only one night - I'm so glad he did. But perhaps it would be a good idea for the staff to explain the facilities at the hotel when you arrive so that you don't miss what this great hotel has to offer.

Exceptional location and we had a room overlooking the Plaza which made for excellent view. The restaurant food was superb as was the bar. Being vegetarians, Lebanese fare on offer was most welcome.

Given the constraint of the terrain there is a lot of climbing up to the room and down to the restaurant. This would be an issue for the elderly. There are no lifts. The restaurant is in heavy demand (presumably from non residents too) so even with bookings made there was a problem getting the table at appointed time. Priortity must be given to the residents. Staff facility with English is limited, including at the reception.

It's is our 4th stay at the hotel so that says it all. The friendliness of the staff and the delightful garden restaurant.

Maybe because of our age quite a lot of stairs. The string bedside carpet in our bedroom which was very worn out and if not removed presented a hazard, as one could easily be caught and trip in the loose strings of this carpet. Should have been lremoved before next occupancy. Some plumbing issues in the bathroom which was communicated to the receptionist.

A beautifully decorated Moorish themed hotel with lots of steps, patios, nooks and crannies in the centre of Vejer. The hotel restaurant is just as beautifully decorated. The food is exceptional! And the staff very efficient.

Nothing to not like. However I would suggest a full length mirror in the room as we were struggling with just the one small over the sink mirror in the bathroom.

Gorgeous North-African-themed hotel in the heart of beautiful Vejer de la Frontera. Spacious room with lovely Moorish decor, roof-top terrace for relaxing and watching the swifts by day and stars by night, separate roof-top terrace for tea, pastries or drinks in the evening; courtyard restaurant (seating inside or out) with beautifully prepared Moroccan style cuisine (good range for vegetarians like us) and fine selection of regional wines (and beyond, but why go beyond?)

Nothing to dislike at all. Perfect.

we loved everything about this place. We stayed at Place18 (the luxury extension of Casa del Califa) it felt like a village in the village with its organic restaurant and breakfast place. rooms were stylishly decorated, with refinement. bathroom amenities were luxurious. we loved the art in the house. (we were lucky to be alone on the house, felt like home) - the view from the room was breath taking. our favorite romantic trip so far.

the quality of the tea could have been better (we often carry our own) but they offer delicious moroccan pastries at tea time so that totally made up for it !

The place is very pretty and well organised. The breakfast has a traditional northafrican touch as has the dinner and drinks menu at the restaurant and the roof top bar. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area of Verje de la Frontera and it offers easy access to Bolonia Beach which was our favourite beach spot to go in the area.

Nothing major. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but a ticket for a parking garage can be bought for 15 euro per night (Sep 2023). We did this to save us the search for a car park each evening...

Amazing property, very unique in its ambiance and decor, I've never been anywhere that resembles it! Attached to a great restaurant, and in an amazing location. Comfortable beds and super nice staff who went out of their way to accommodate. If you have a car, reserve a parking spot in advance!

There was a 2 week summer fair happening when we stayed, so it was super loud at night til very late because this property is located basically right off the main square. But this is not the property's fault, I think everyone who was staying near downtown heard this. Honestly this hotel is 10/10

We had dinner at the Jardín restaurant and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The ambience and comfort and accessibility to views and terraces were all outstanding.

Parking is a challenge especially if you rent an SUV. The parking garage is difficult even for a very experienced driver so just be patient and forewarned.
