We had 2 rooms. A deluxe double is large and beautifully appointed. The view from the balcony is superb and the remote controlled blinds mean that you can watch the sunrise in bed! The chanting of the monks at the nearby temple and the birdsong just add to the feeling of serenity and well being. Despite being close to the main road, the atmosphere is peaceful. The staff are friendly and helpful. We had all meals in house and the food is delicious and well priced.

Not a lot. The only quibble is that I found the bed a little short. I’m 5’11” and my heals were right at the end of the mattress. A really tall person will struggle.

Waking up to the sounds of peacocks and monkeys, with panoramic views stretching across sunrise and sunset, felt like something out of a dream. The gardens are immaculately landscaped, and the serene pool was a perfect spot to unwind. The property’s personal tuk-tuk and car service made getting around effortless—and at very fair rates, which we used extensively. The heart of the experience, though, was the staff. Jagath was central to everything—helping us carefully plan trips, from catching the perfect clip-so train for Nine Arches Bridge to a scenic day trip to Nuwara Eliya. Kumar and Sandoon greeted us every morning with warmth and a delicious breakfast that felt like home. This place is a gem, and we can’t recommend it enough. We appreciated that one of the rooms was upgraded. The room she was supposed to get was shown and she said that it was basic. The view was amazing The shower was good with good hot water.

My Husband and I had the apartment. I really did not like the small kitchen area, even though we had no intention of cooking. It was not modern. It way it was put together was a bit basic. The price paid for the apartment was unjustified. The Bungalow was 25-30 minutes away from the town. Nearly 10 km. Didn’t like the Breakfast. Food was always cold

The lush Gardens just beautiful. Seriously the best part was the monks chanting in the morning like 530 to 630 sunrise. Also sunrise over the mountains exquisite view. Incredibly calm, peaceful, joyful. The staff went over and above, seriously! You were there for my daughter’s 29th birthday and she was vegan. They decorated the outdoor table with balloons and a happy birthday sign and give us all kinds of wonderful foods all of the vegan that she could enjoy. If you wanna place where they’re gonna go the extra mile even if it is a little updating or it’s pretty far off seems to be worth it as long as you don’t mind those monkeys.

There’s a lot of bugs, not the resort fault. The monkeys are crazy, aggressive, banging on the glass doors to get in again not the resort’s fault. The room is very spacious, but does need to be updated., plugs are in different spots to actually be useful. The grounds are incredible however

This hotel near Ella is a true gem if you're looking to relax in nature. Located about 12 km outside the city, it offers a peaceful, green setting with absolutely breathtaking views. The pool area is beautiful, breakfast and service were excellent, and the room was spacious and very clean. It’s the perfect place to unwind away from the crowds Overall, a beautiful and serene place to stay near Ella. Highly recommended if you're after calm, comfort, and amazing views.

Do be aware that, being close to the jungle and a temple, there can be some natural nighttime noises (monkeys, chants). Nothing extreme—just part of the experience of staying close to nature.

A charming boutique hotel about 15 minutes from Ella. The main bungalow is great, very atmospheric and the gardens are beautifully maintained. Expect to see lots of wildlife, including monkeys! Nice big pool. The kids loved the badminton court. We had a family room, which is two bedrooms with a lounge area in the main bungalow. Perfect for our family of 5. Excellent, big breakfast. The service was outstanding.

If I had to be super fussy, I'd say the rooms are a little dated, but the main planters bungalow is an authentic, historic building, so the decor actually adds to the charm.

Everything about this hotel is designed to relax and make guests feel special. The food and service are exceptional. The staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Breakfast and Dining outside in the immaculately maintained garden offers sensational views over the valley, rice fields and fruit trees. We had a lovely tour of the on-site fruit trees and herb garden by the garden team. Very peaceful place to explore the area from. We took local transport into Ella to experience the hustle but Planters bungalow offers the relaxation any holiday deserves.

Amazing property - absolutely beautiful views over Ella Gap which is what you’re there for! Food at the hotel was great, especially the breakfast in the room, and the pool and surrounding area/plants were beautiful. So quiet and calm, great way to enjoy Ella. Location for us worked perfectly, about 20 minute drive from Ella town but if you hire a scooter or just grab tuk tuks you to a great drive.

Somehow this hotel is only rated two stars; it's about six stars for the soul, and a good four stars just for the accommodation. Our "deluxe family room" actually had two separate bedrooms and while the building dates back to mid-nineteenth century (which is lovely), the rooms have lots of modern conveniences: modern door splitting the two bedrooms; highly sophisticated shower etc. Oh, and do a cooking class; they're amazing!

Leaving! The staff could not be more friendly and helpful. And the location is ideal: outside Ella (which is a quite touristy and busy) but close enough to enjoy its facilities, but far enough away that you benefit from the wonderful views across the hills district and its tea plantations, as well as the local waterfalls and wild swimming holes.

This is a beautiful small hotel with excellent rooms and stunning views, about 15 minutes from bustling Ella. The location, in landscaped gardens, is charming and eating breakfast and dinner al-fresco is delightful - and the food is excellent. All of the staff were so friendly and pleasant, making our stay so very enjoyable. Highly recommended.
