The rustic charm and quirkiness of the treehouse exceeded expectations. The staff we’re fantastic and took us on a private safari in Udawalawe (about 25 minutes away) where we got so close to the elephants. They also arranged a guided canoe trip on the nearby lake - sadly no bathing elephants this time but plenty of other wildlife to see. The evening meal we had there was perhaps the best curry I have ever eaten and all of this at exceptionally good prices. We spoke to several people who went to Yala and spent far more, saw far less and didn’t seem get anywhere near the experience we did.

We had an incredible stay at La Pentera Resort, nestled beside the beautiful Hambegamuwa Lake. The serene surroundings added so much to our experience. We enjoyed a peaceful canoe ride on the lake and an unforgettable safari to Udawalawe National Park, both of which were absolute highlights of our trip. The treehouse was absolutely amazing—an air-conditioned retreat in the treetops, complete with a luxurious jacuzzi. It was the perfect combination of comfort, adventure, and nature. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a unique and relaxing getaway!

The treehouse was a romantic dream perfect for our valentines stay with the tree branches reaching through the rooms. Great size bed with plenty of space around, also a sofa, a fridge & good size bathroom... plus an area down stairs with a big double hot tub for a good soak after a day on safari! The sounds from the birds & monkeys & elephants was just incredible. Fireflies at night sat up on your treetop terrace. You must also take breakfast on the lake in a canoe organised by the staff - just magical! Amazing home cooking also from the family working & living there.

Unfortunately our Jacuzzi tub motor didn't work & was not fixed even for our 2nd day after we mentioned it straight away in the morning. I also had requested to reduce the stay by one night before we arrived as I had our travel plans wrong, but I never received any refund for the 3rd night. May have been something lost in translation as otherwise the manager & staff were super friendly & helpful. Would not stop us from retuning as we still had a super time there!

This place is really great 👍🏼 We got a welcome drink ( real coco nut from the garden). The tree house is cozy, stylish and clean. We also ate the real Sri lankans dinner there. Lady from village made it for us. And what was really cool- we could have our dinner op the "watchtower". In the evening they made a camp fire and we talked. We got so much information to know about Sri lanka. You can swim in the lake that is not far away from the tree houses. They offer also activities.
