The whole property and grounds are beautiful. The infinity pool is stunning with a lovely view down to the village. The restaurant food was fantastic both the Sri Lankan buffet and other menu choices. We loved the 7.30 cocktail with the other guests which brings an opportunity to meet the other guests as well as share experiences. We did 3 guided walks. One from Pilkington Point to Diyulama Falls and down to Koslanda village. We really enjoyed this, beautiful views and through the Poonagala estate. Second one to the waterfall on site for a swim. And third to the local village through the paddy fields, also really beautiful and interesting. Loved all of it. Johnston and his team are wonderful and will organise everything for you. All in all a truly wonderful stay. Thank you.

The service was exceptional with very caring and hardworking staff in both the front of house and the kitchen- the food was top class authentic Sri Lankan cuisine. The hotel is set in a truly beautiful setting, an amazing private place in the mountains to relax; it felt like a truly secluded paradise. Our nights in a forest pavilion room was an incredible experience, being woken up to the beautiful jungle views by monkeys outside the balcony was unforgettable

One night there was very noisy music form the next door hotel. The road to and from the property, especially to the east is very poor, it took almost 2 hours to drive from Ella, which we did not appreciate beforehand. The private waterfall is amazing but not easily accessible, I would only recommend the hike through the forest for fit adults. They charge additional 10% service on everything, including the room cost.

This was a real treat. There were only 4 people in the entire resort at the time, since we came at the end of Easter vacation and the begining of the wet and shoulder season. The grounds are gorgeous, the garden, wonderful, the staff was very helpful and nice, and we had an upgrade that was not short of royal: I truly thought that we entered a several-room bungalow whereas it was our room! A room with a patio and a front and a side terrasses. Monkeys playing in the trees in the morning. The nature is very present and lush and beautiful. We went on a hike which we couldn't finish, since we've discovered a new species we had never met before: leeches. My daughter freaked! But it was an experience. She very much enjoyed the pool, overlooking the valley, and I booked an ayurvedic massage, which was the best I had in Sri Lanka. The man had very skilled hands. It is a place to get lost into, it feels last the days of yore, an estate to spend peaceful days. Unfortunately it wasn't our case, since we booked only a night, thereby shortening a safari that would have been (accurately so!) too long had we stayed an extra night. So it was an stop-by in between locations, booked a bit last-minute. Our next destination was Amba Estate, one of the few existing estates rolling tea by hand, with a social purpose since it has very good labor conditions and employs the villagers, thereby creating a strong community. I would recommend as well, it's not that far, on the other side of the mountain, hence "on the way" toward Ella, where we jumped on a train to our next adventures. Thank you again for having us and allowing such a beautiful stay. I also had the best cocktail and we both enjoyed our meals!

The property is very remote, quiet and peaceful. We stayed in the forest pavillions which is like glamping, the bed was very luxurious. The pool area was lovely with wonderful views. The staff were all polite and attentive, the coffee was great, the food was delicious.

A bit more storage area in the pavillions would be helpful, with 2 suitcases there wasn't much room to sort clothes. a place to hang wet swimming clothes to dry would also be helpful. The private waterfall was a difficult walk with leeches and not suitable for swimming. It would be nice to have a map of the property and more walking trails to view the property.

We stayed for 2 nights in one of the fabulous Forest Pavilions, which was very comfortable and definitely a unique experience. We slept very well surrounded by the jungle sounds, all the furnishings were of a high standard and all the smallest details were taken care of to enhance our stay. The pool area was lovely but unfortunately the spa area was closed otherwise we would have definitely booked a massage. It was particularly lovely to meet the owner over cocktails before dinner who was very informative and told us all about the history of the hotel. The food was also excellent and the staff very professional.

Living Heritage Koslanda is an extraordinary high-end eco property which redefines luxury travel. Nestled into a setting of high biodiversity and unadulterated nature, its culinary delights and excursion offerings are nicely paired with sublime but discreet service, quite likely one of the most extraordinary infinity pool views ever conceived (makes up for the short "hike" to reach it), and nothing but cocooning birdsong and other animal sounds -- especially in the mornings and evenings. Truly outer-worldly...

Small but worthwhile guest enhancements could be to - provide towels at the (somewhat remote) pool site; - highlight / emphasise all guest activities, including the early bird watching session (we missed); - ensure Google Maps has the precise location (finding the property (especially at night) is challenging...

Beautiful architecture and incredibly calming environment Facilities were exceptional but you still felt like you were in the wild. Complimentary Cocktail and snack before dinner was a lovely touch Private waterfall was amazing, so much bigger than expected, perfect for a swim and only a short 20 minute walk away. We were very sad to leave after an incredible 2 days where we didn’t leave the property at all. We had some concerns about the Forest Pavilion after reading a review about insects but it wasn’t a problem The monkeys will likely come visit when you are out of the pavilion but as long as you lock food and valuables away there won’t be any problems Bonfire on our last night was a lovely touch and is a special place if you like to meet new people as you get a chance to interact with other guests

Living Heritage absolutely lived up to my (high) expectations. We arrived in the dark but were warmly greeted by various members of staff. We had booked the forest pavilions which were stunning, but not for the faint-hearted (or anyone who doesn't like being that close to nature!) - our teenage daughter was not impressed with the critters that shared her room and bathroom! That said, opening the blinds in the morning being surrounded by the jungle was pretty special! Every evening, the hotel hosts cocktails for all guests and encourages everyone to mingle - this was honestly great, ensuring you meet lots of different people but also swap travel tips....I really enjoyed this. The swimming pool here is amazing......a real wow factor and I wished I had booked more nights here to spend more time enjoying the pool! We went on a walk to the waterfall within the hotel's grounds with one of the hotel's guides which was fun and we could do a bit of 'wild swimming'. There was plenty more opportunities - other waterfalls, village tours etc that we just didn't have enough time to take advantage of. The food was excellent (needed to be chosen in advance) and the atmosphere at dinner was great too.

The forest pavilions were a bit too much for us but I would return here in an instant but maybe book the rooms instead (but I'm glad I stayed in the pavilion to have had the experience!). I'm not sure whether I'd recommend this as a base for Ella as it's about 45mins - 1 hour outside of Ella and it's such a stunning hotel, using it just as a 'base' is such a waste! I didn't want to leave the place!

It’s an oasis of calm, only the wonderful noises of nature which were a joy to hear. Lots of thought and attention to the rooms and layout of the facilities. Each evening there is an informal get-together of the guests over a cocktail and light bite which is optional, we joined both nights and really enjoyed meeting the staff and fellow guests. Poonagala village close by was a special experience.

Clearing plates at meal time is always really quick and sometimes the other person is still eating. A little delay would be good. However I noticed this in other hotels also so maybe it is something more nationwide in practice.

The grounds of the hotel are enormous and beautiful. The hotel also has very few rooms so it is a very peaceful setting. Staff is very welcoming. The infinity pool is gorgeous and the views magnificent. Hotel grounds has a private waterfall (it's a bit of a walk away...) which is really nice and peaceful. Dinner was delicious

- The trail leading to the entrance is poorly maintained and very hard to find (no sign). - We found our room a bit dark. - The doors separating the room to the patio had gaps, meaning all sorts of insects could come in the room. - Expected more of the room for a 5 star hotel and the price - Be careful, the walk to the waterfall has leeches.
