I’m so thankful that we spontaneously changed our route and landed here at Moksha in Kitulgala! We sure were met with a rare beauty of a surprise! What fab, super clean and luxuriously comfy rooms and cutesy dining area, and such exquisite exterior architecture! Tucked in the rainforest, amidst river streams, Moksha is a heavenly treat - a serene, romantic getaway, especially for a honeymooning couple. And despite being in the center of such dense greenery, the resort manages to maintain 10/10 pest control and very smooth WIFI network + telecom, unlike some other places we stayed on this trip. We even had Netflix to chill! Food was delicious and presentation of it all was a delight too! Apart from the gorgeous pool & bar, we could also walk a few steps down and enjoy the river stream. Loved every bit of our stay at Moksha. Highly recommended, if you’re looking for an exclusive setting (with very few guests around) and tranquility.

This is easily one of the best hotels in Sri Lanka. The small number of rooms means you receive attentive and thoughtful personalised service, without any compromise on amenities. Those amenities include the unique natural pond and river. Photos don’t really do this place justice: it is surrounded by the most amazing array of natural vegetation, much of which is expertly and creatively used by the accomplished kitchen team. The food here is incredible. Even the coffee is made from beans grown in the grounds. The rooms are excellent with beautiful jungle views. The staff could not do more to make you feel welcome and help with anything you ask. For example, we wondered whether mangosteens are served with breakfast: they said no but they would see what they could do. The next morning, and without mentioning this again, when our fruit was served, we were presented with a full plate of mangosteens freshly picked from the garden. The team deserve great things and I’m sure this will continue to be a very successful hotel.

This is a beautiful property set amongst a stunning rain forest location but still close to the main town. The food was excellent and the rooms comfortable and as described. The staff were efficient. The team were very responsive on WhatsApp and were well prepared for our arrival. The gardens were beautiful .. sadly we didn’t have time to stay longer.

It’s a shame the dining area is closed and a little too cold in air conditioning. I think I prefer nice open air dining spaces as the weather was so lovely. Please invest in some soft pads under the heavy dining chairs so the noise of sliding the chairs over the beautiful wooden floor is reduced.

Great Stay with Lovely Amenities but Pricey Extras We had a very nice stay at this hotel. The room was tidy, the swimming pool was well-maintained, and the natural pool was a unique and refreshing experience. Both breakfast and dinner were quite good, with a decent variety of options to enjoy. The hotel offers a range of activities, which is convenient, but we found them to be quite expensive compared to booking directly with local providers. Similarly, the laundry service was overpriced and charged in dollars, which was unexpected. Overall, it was a pleasant stay with great facilities, but some of the additional services felt overpriced.

Tours were pricy, laundry was very expensive.

Exactly as depicted, a beautiful lodge in the middle of the forest. Excellent food, and very friendly staff. A truly relaxing stay immersed in nature. They help to arrange a good guide for a nature walk. The menu, at first glance, is very heavy on European / Western food (pizza, pasta, tapas), which are fine but not exceptional. Go with the Sri Lankan menu options. You won't be disappointed.

Note that there are stairs, and no lift. Can be an issue for people with mobility issues. They need you to order your meal in advance, and quite insistent on this. I understand why, but they do this even prior to arrival, which is confusing. Would be nice if they offered a tea-time snack as part of their routine service, but if you ask they do provide it.

The property is so serene, calm and quiet. The rooms are clean and fully equipped with the view of the wall and the whole property. The food is hand picked from their green houses, freshly made and organic. The chef was amazing they exceeded our expectations with every meal we had. The whole staff crew was so nice and friendly, attentive and welcoming. This place is 10/10. Definitely recommend.

Nothing, I loved everything.

This property vastly exceeded our expectations! Like staying in the middle of an extensive and artfully designed tropical botanical garden with a picturesque creek running through it. Amazing that this high level of accommodation can be offered in such a remote location. Beds were of the finest quality and by far the best during our 2 week holiday. Food was worthy of a Michelin star. Staff was plentiful and eager to please. A solid 10 and highly recommended. Do not miss the magical paved jungle walking path all along the creek where you can safely swim in many spots.

Loved this hotel in the natural jungle by the river with a wonderful owner and his team of staff. Very sincere and helpful. It really left a wonderful memory. I will miss you. Thank you.

Amazing food, beautiful and calm, friendly staff, very comfortable

Nothing! Only piece of advise is to not allow smoking on the terrace - in our case there was a chain smoking family next to us while having dinner

Staying here is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. You're literally in the heart of the rainforest, but with the comforts of air conditioning and kind, attentive service from the extremely accommodating staff. Lush beauty and wildlife all around. The natural pool is amazing and not to be missed. The hotel offers outdoor activities (rafting, canyoning, guided hikes, etc.). We did rafting and a guided hike - both awesome and quite adventurous! The kitchen staff prepared delicious meals to order, and were flexible with our special requests (getting a packed breakfast for the day trip). Everyone took really good care of us.

Some of the fixtures in the room were a bit run-down, which is understandable considering the climate and rural location. If you're looking for the very most modern luxuries, this is probably not the place for you. However, if you love the outdoors and being immersed in a unique, beautiful rainforest, then I can only recommend it. We had an amazing and unforgettable time here.
