We could not have chosen a better place to stay, such a warm welcome and help whenever needed, nothing is too much bother for the wonderful couple at this guest house. The rooms are super clean. The location is brilliant, I'm 63 and could easily walk to the beach in the midday heat with no problem. Scooter hire is available if needed. The café across the road is excellent also if you don't feel like going into the main attractions. 7/11 is just a few metres up the road. It is very quiet at night also. I highly recommend you check Baan Thara as you will not be disappointed.

Baan Thara Guesthouse is a great place to stay in Ao Nang if you like to be outside of the hustle and bustle a bit. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They helped us with transport to Koh Lanta, gave us free cold water nearly daily and even brought home a fruit basket for us.

There is nothing not to like. I would only say that it's a bit outside of the main centre in Ao Nang (which was perfect for us). The facilities are great and clean! Yes, the front facing rooms get hit by the traffic noise and dog barking when the mosque starts at 5am. Easily avoided if you ask for a room facing the back. Definitely worth a visit!

The room was as described, perhaps even larger than I expected. It had a refrigerator, air conditioning, a kettle, and even a safe for valuables. The staff was always super friendly and eager to accommodate my needs. I was also able to rent a scooter for a whole month. The beach is only about 700 meters away. I enjoyed my stay. Thank you for everything!

If you are a light sleeper, the muezzin's call to prayer can wake you up at 5 a.m. and all the wild dogs around you will join in with their barking. The guesthouse is not to blame about it. Earplugs can help.

We had such a lovely stay here. The staff are very friendly (especially the man) and everything felt extremely home like. We did some washing which was done within 6 hours which was very convenient. Room is exactly as described very clean and tidy. The towels smelt amazing too. As it is low season there was not many people about and I think the hotel was very quiet. It’s a little out the way via walking but grabs were extremely cheap and took less than 5 minutes. Alternatively you could walk to the beach in 10/15 minutes and the tourist area in around 20 mins but you have to walk down a busy main road.

A simple breakfast was provided which was a perfect start to the day. Lek, the owner, was so helpful. We booked a tour through him and used him to book taxis down to Ao Nang beach. The rooms were massive and no noise overnight. Rooms were kept clean each day plus Lek let us use separate towels for trips to the beach or tours. When we checked in Lek set up an extra single bed in one room as all twin rooms were already taken. Again - he was always on hand to help us.

Guesthouse is a little too far to walk to Ao Nang so you must use taxi and Grab to get around - around 150 to 200 THB each way so not expensive.

Brilliant stay! We would be more than happy to be back here. The room was super clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they even offered us breakfast which was a nice surprise. The location is also good although renting a scooter is recommended.

Everything was amazing

The staff's assistance and kindness were truly exceptional. They went above and beyond to help us with everything from renting bikes to arranging laundry services, and they even graciously drove us to the port on our departure day. On the downside, the location is quite a distance from the Ao Nang center, and the breakfast offered is rather basic and unappealing in appearance. However, considering the overall experience, the value for money is the best we've encountered so far.

The owner and his brother with their family person run the whole hotel. They were very polite and helpful. Our check-in time was 2 pm but they gave us the room at 12 pm as we had arrived early. We booked our scooter and island hopping with them which was very convenient. I think at the given price in booking.con you can't expect to get anything better than Baan Thara Guesthouse. Obviously the rooms were not new, but it was neat and tidy. They were very accommodating. It's not far from all the restaurants and beach. I could have stayed at this place for longer if needed. very safe, felt right at home.

I have been travelling Thailand for 18 months and have stayed in a variety of hotels ranging in prices and I would say this place was definitly great value for money. I stayed here 6 nights. This is a family owned hotel. Three brothers I believe. The owners/staff were extremely helpful and kind. Always aliavable to help with any questions or wants. it was the same staff working everyday which i enjoyed. The room was very spacious and very clean. Serviced daily to a very high standard. The room had everything you need to make a cuppa in the morning. Hairdryer and Iron at front desk for use. They also hire motorbikes from here however we had pre booked a bike from across the road for easy return. I picked this location purely because i wanted to be away from the crowds. However it is a 2 min bike ride to the beach. One end of the beach is amazingly quiet and the other end has all the shopping and people watching you could ever want. If you turn left out of the driveway you see on your right a bike hire shop and seven11 continue on to the beach and shopping. If you go right out the driveway you will find endless food and good food . Western and thai and hallal at Thai prices. An English speaking chemist is next door also. All in all this was a great stay and I wish the owners and staff all the best on their Hotel journey. xxxxx

That I had to leave.

The rooms are very nice, big and clean, with great and super clean beds. A very good breakfast is included for free (much appreciated, but should be specified on booking.com as it's a great selling point as the combo for the price is unbeatable) Their tour prices are extremely competitive, cheaper than the actual tours (if booked with the tour company), they probably have good deals with the locals, just ask them at reception and they can book right away for you. (We did a 4 island tour for 900THB, super fair price). The guesthouse is only 1km from the night market, but still in a quiet area away from the noisy tourists. Perfect location in my opinion considering how small and crowded Ao Nang can get. The staff is amazing, 10/10, Ju and his brother are friendly and extremely fair with you. They suggest secret spots and ways to save money and travel hack living like a local, plus they constantly make sure you are ok and having the best time ;)

There are some ants crawling around, but that's normal for this area of Thailand. Just make sure you keep your food in a ziplock bag to avoid any surprises ;) Bathrooms could use some descaling, but that's a very minor thing.
