Check-in is very accessible at the open-air cafe looking out over the fields. We stayed in an airy maisonette set away from the road down a gravel drive by the pond. The room was large, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom simple but large and clean. We appreciated the inclusion of a setup mosquito net — the ceilings are so high here we would have struggled to hang our own! Our hosts were excellent, very chatty and helpful, and the included breakfast up at the cafe was particularly good. My partner enjoyed the coffee a lot. WiFi was also strong and parking was simple. We found the property well-placed for riding the Jesus Trail, visiting the huge Buddha up the road, and finding dinner — there are several good local options.

The place gives a calm and tranquil vibe. We had a great family time. They also have friendly fur friends. There was this cuddly cat; Ratatouille - whom we very much adore. For food, you need to order at least 2 hours a head because they cook fresh (and shop fresh too). At night, they provided us camp fire with charcoal and grill sets which we had BBQ dinner with the meat we bought from a store, which was like 6 mins walk from the stay. The breakfast was very simple. Rice and Scrambled Egg. But the rice, (I think) it's cooked over charcoal , you can smell the scent of it, which I personally liked because it brings me back to my childhood and it gives the overall essence of how people in this community lives. The rice and scrambled egg portion was big - we could even share with two people. And they are also very generous with the watermelon for dessert.
The place is great. But the road (the mountain) to the place can be steep and curvy. But if you're traveling to Doi Inthanon or experiencing Mae Hong Son loop, this should be a definite stop.

A friendly local place with nice vibes! We stayed in a simple but nice bamboo hut (I really loved the beautiful paintings on all of the buildings) and the nice common area, a great place to chill. It looks like this place will only get better as they develop it - the owner is really lovely and explained how they want to focus on conservation of the area and try to bring back some local wildlife too! So it feels great to support their mission - we will be back if we’re staying in the Doi Inthanon area again!

Stopped on the Mae Hong Son loop. Incredible location on the rice fields, it's exactly the experience I was looking for. The huts are basic, but it's part of the charm - if you want to feel like you're in nature, this is as close as you'll get. So good.
When approaching from the west, make sure to follow the paved highway and not the dirt road - if you get on it, turn around, do not attempt it unless your riding manual, it's wild in parts. It's a shame the bathrooms face out on to the fields and not the double doors of the huts.. a real waste of a view. Still, a minor comment. The view from the cafe area is amazing.

Nongtao is a special place! The host is so friendly, the accommodations have everything you need. Easy to get to Doi Inthanon, but personally I loved spending time in Ban Nong Tao more than the park. The cutest puppy lives on the farm, and he guided me around town every day! Absolutely beautiful to eat breakfast in the morning and chat with likeminded folks, and to meet the host's friends.
The bed was uncomfy, but I also have a bad back so I am particular about beds.

-the location is amazing to explore the mountains -the breakfast was delicious and the views were incredible from the breakfast area -great place to meet other travelers -bed was comfy
-could have been a bit cleaner -quite a lot of bugs, ants etc (that is to be expected in the nature, but could be more avoided if it would be cleaner)

We really loved how cute and quaint it was. A real Thailand family home experience. The staff were wonderful and very friendly. There was a fire on when we arrived as we were on motorbikes bikes and we were frozen so was amazing to go and warm up by the fireplace. Very affordable food and accommodation.
The bungalows are a little rough with the odd insects, but that didn’t bother us. No hot water but once again we were aware from pervious reviews.

A great homestay & friendly staff. The accommodation was of a fair size. Bathroom sufficient, shower, warm water. Bottle of water in room. Bed rather soft, but ok for a night. Lovely outlook amongst rice fields. It would be nice to have a couple of chairs on the veranda to sit on to admire the views. Excellent breakfast included, omelette on rice & tea or coffee.

Nongtao homestay is an amazing place for people who like to spend time in nature and in the countryside. It's very rural and quite basic, but that's exactly what we liked about it. Hikers and bikers that are interested in exploring Doi Inthanon and the surroundings will have a great time here. Breakfast (usually rice and egg/omelette) is included in the price. The owner is very friendly.
There's only cold water showers, but you'll definitely feel awake afterwards! :D

This homestay is in a Karen village and is very basic but we found it comfortable. There is no air-conditioning but we found the wall-mounted fan surprisingly effective. The food in the restaurant was fairly basic and limited (more so because we are vegetarian) but it was delicious "home-cooking" style which we enjoyed. The people working at the homestay were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating, as were the village shopkeepers and the owner of the Lazy Man cafe, which enhanced our stay a lot and involved us in the Karen culture.
The bathroom had no hot water but we survived the cold shower. There are a few attractions in the area around the village but not many - the Big Buddha, a couple of waterfalls etc. You will need a car or a scooter. It is a 40 minute (somewhat daunting) drive to the spectacular Doi Inthanon National Park. We visited the park on 3 consecutive days - well worth it!
