Everything here was perfect. Right from the host to rooms to the location to food and the hospitality of the hosts. The host there named Por was very very good. She made sure that all our needs are fulfilled and she made our stay very comfortable in khao lak. She helped us in everything from arranging good food for us specially we being pure vegetarian. The property provides free bicycles to go to nearby beach which is khuk khaak. The beach is just 3-5 minutes by bicycle. They also provide bikes on rent. Their breakfast is very very good and have lots of varieties. Por specially arranged vegetarian food in breakfast for us. Por even guided us where to go, which beaches are the best one's to visit. They also help you with arranging the best island tours. Now lets talk about the property. One of the best property in khao lak. The property has a good swimming pool, greenary all around, mountains on one side. The rooms are much bigger and spacious and very clean, comfortable beds, spacious bathroom and very clean. You get to hear nature calls in the morning, you dont need an alarm clock there are very sweet hens giving wake up call which feels very soothing in the morning and cheerful. We had a lovely time here in this resort i would recommend this property for staying if you are in khao lak. All the staff people including the host are very good. You get good food here, cutlery is provided whenever required. Best highlight of the place is the free bicycles they provide to visit nearby places. The property is very well located, nearby there are many beaches. Must visit place when in khao lak!!!

Everything was perfect!!

Spotless rooms, friendly staff. Everything exactly as shown in the listing. Free bicycles which was a bonus to get to the local beach and cafes. Pam's just down the road is EPIC!

No noise insulation so you can hear your neighbour's talking/TV :( No breakfast. Being low season this wasn't on offer.

Lovely small resort surrounded by greenery. Really quiet. Very nice owner. Comfy rooms. We borrowed the pedal bikes to go out to dinner most nights. Pam's is a great restaurant about 5min ride/10min walk away. You do need a moped to explore the area, we hired one from the owner and used it every day. We extended our stay here to a full week because we liked it so much. Breakfast was nice, plenty of fresh fruit, rye and wholemeal bread available, nice omelettes etc.

It would be great to get rid of the single use shampoo/conditioner bottles and the endless plastic water bottles. The owner does provide free water and you can go and fill your own bottle up, but new single use plastic water bottles arrived in our room every day. Only instant coffee available at breakfast. Be aware it is a 12 minute cycle to the nearest beach.

We enjoyed everything about The Retreat. It's a quiet, beautiful resort. The owner and his staff are wonderful. There are free bikes you can use to go to the nearby beach and restaurants. We also enjoyed the included breakfast. When we return, we will stay here again.

Super friendly, family run place. Spacious rooms overlooking the pool, especially the first floor with nice private balconies. Peaceful and quiet ... with a few chickens running around. Nice food and fresh eggs for breakfast; honesty bar for beers during the day. Decking overlooks small stream with otters playing. Only 12 rooms which seem to get booked with regulars

The location is a bit isolated. Cycle to the beach and beach bars but hard to get taxis to more choice. No food on site after breakfast and no staff in the evening

Can't praise this place enough. Is it far out of the way yes. But that was perfect and what we wanted. We were given bikes to get around and we used them to get to the beach, memories beach, muay Thai (across the main road) and surfboard shop. We could have gone further however with a small child we decided to taxi it to take the pram. The pool area is spotless the sun loungers are great with umbrellas. The breakfast was beautiful. The staff are amazing, the owner was so welcoming. Now the room. Faultless. Spotless, everything worked everything was comfortable. Plus a rail outside to dry clothes etc This is literally a gem in thailand.

Everything! This place is perfect, Aop and suka are so helpful, always happy to make sure we got what we needed. Breakfast options were great, even as vegetarians. Location is good, next to a few local restaraunts and 10 minutes away to bang Niang market and khao lak village, easy to get taxi’s into these places at around 200-300bhat. Free bicycles, able to use the facilities when you’ve checked out, air con works well, the resort is clean everywhere seems well maintained and new. Nice little touches like fruit on arrival, fruit in an afternoon, able to take drinks out the fridge and write down what you’ve taken. A nice, safe, calm, relaxing place. We will definitely be back in the future!

The hotel far exceeded my expectation. I had checked in for a one night stay before transferring to another resort to attend a wedding. Wish I had stayed longer. It was such a nice comfortable hotel and the staff were exceptional. So friendly and helpful. A small hideaway in Khao lak with all the amenities of a larger hotel. Breakfast was excellent as was the enormous welcome fruit plate and drink. The Pomelo and other fruits were grown on the property and the family that runs the hotel were so welcome I wish I'd stayed longer.

Short stay so didn't get time to hang out and enjoy the place.

Smart. Very new. Helpful and lovely staff. Good room with huge bed and sitting area outside. Nice big swimming pool. Walk to two restaurants. Next door - if the elderly lady opens up - is a perfect restaurant/bar with great character. Bikes are free to use and are needed to get to the beach. Pams is a fantastic restaurant within walking distance but booking recommended!

Location wasn't the best as the beach is too far for a comfortable walk but we used the hotel bikes.

The Retreat felt like a retreat. It felt secluded and yet when you stepped outside you were a 5 minute bike ride from the beach. The room was spacious and was cleaned every day. Free water and good breakfast and the staff were very friendly. I would recommend staying here.

I liked it all and was very pleased with my choice of accommodation as it added to the holiday experience.
