Joys House is a little oasis located about 20 mins red truck drive out of the bussle of the old Chiang Mai centre. The restaurant meals were excellent, the room we had large and clean and we did both the Thai cooking class and the elephant retirement park experience through them. Both were fabulous. To top off our amazing stay we were lucky enough to be staying at New Years Eve and Joys House arranged a dinner, music and traditional lanterns to be lit and released at midnight. What an experience for my daughters. Thank you for such great memories I hope we get to return one day.

This guest house is a real hidden little gem. We stayed here with our family of 5: lovely spacious family room, very comfortable beds, spotlessly clean; wonderful authentic Thai grounds, lots of attention to detail and many interesting little corners to explore, including the beautiful pool area. It’s located about 10 minutes taxi drive from the old town and the hotel offers a complementary shuttle bus into town twice a day. Personally, I thought the area the hotel is in is lovely and much more genuine and authentic than the old town, which is nice but can be very touristy. The Thai family who run it are kind, attentive and worked hard to make us feel at home, especially when we came back really tired and dirty after two days in the jungle. Lovely home food served daily at the restaurant and at breakfast. We will be returning!

Joy’s House is truly one of a kind. From the very first moment, we felt surrounded by care and warm hospitality. A sense of relaxation and safety stayed with us throughout our entire stay. The guesthouse offers countless cozy corners for play and exploration, perfect for all three of our children. We enjoyed playing ping pong, billiards, and Jenga, and spent plenty of time swimming in the pool, despite the chilly weather. The staff was incredibly attentive, always fulfilling our requests with smiles and genuine enthusiasm. The food was simply outstanding! The chef’s cooking is extraordinary, and on several occasions, we asked for special dishes not on the menu or requested fresh coconuts—and everything was prepared beautifully. The entire experience felt like visiting close friends rather than staying at a guesthouse. An unforgettable stay!

This was our second stay here and will continue to return when in Chiang Mai. This property is lovely and it is a reflection of the family that runs it. You can tell they really care about making it as good as it can be and welcoming guests. Rooms- Each room seems to be a bit different which is cool. We got a suite this time that had living room and separate bedroom. Old Thai style decor and furniture. Food- Breakfast is great, fresh fruits, toasts, coffee n tea, and they have egg station where the hostess will make omelet or eggs however you’d like them. Their lunch/dinner menu is great in our experience as well. The property itself is so peaceful and inviting. Many comfortable places to sit. If you don’t want to go to town you have everything you need here. If you do, they have shuttles to town twice a day. You must get your own way back but that means you can explore freely. If you’re on the fence, I say do it and be pleasantly surprised at all the little things that make this place great.

Joy’s house has a lovely vibe and is away from the hustle & bustle of chiang mai centre. The family room we had was spacious with big beds and two bathrooms. The whole complex is quirky and cute and the pool area was relaxing and attractive. We did a trip to Doi Inthanon and had a great day- would recommend. We also did the cooking course with the lovely Champi. It was quite a sociable place and families sat around the fire and even had the odd sing song! There’s pool table and tv area which the kids liked. We stayed 4 nights over Christmas and had a really great stay. The whole team are so friendly and helpful and made Christmas Eve really festive! It was easy to get in to chiang mai with the free shuttle and get a grab or bolt back. I’d recommend for anyone who wants a warm welcome and peaceful surroundings.

The 2 bedroom bungalow was perfect for our family of 4! We LOVED that the entire property is fenced in and the main gate mostly stayed shut. Our young kids roamed around freely while we relaxed in the central courtyard and it was lovely. The food (included breakfast, a la cart menu, and the food we prepared at cooking class) was delicious. The pool was quiet and peaceful, though very chilly! We loved the opportunity to book tours directly through the property. The elephant visit and bua thong waterfall excursion was an unforgettable experience. The cooking class provided a nice, quiet evening in and it was truly family friendly- our two year old loved it. There were little toys in the main reception area, bikes for use, and friendly cats to play with for our kids. WiFi was great, throughout the property. The shuttle to town (10 am and 6pm) was a nice perk, though it’s relatively easy to catch a ride whenever with bolt or grab! All in all, an excellent, family friendly accommodation.

Everything! From the door we were welcomed warmly by Satine and given a tour of the Joy House facilities. A friendly black cat joined us on the tour! Our rooms were lovely and comfortable. We enjoyed the pool area, played ping pong, had massages and took a cooking class on the premises. Breakfast was fresh, delicious and plentiful. We enjoyed the BEST version of Khai soi in Chiang Mai for dinner on our first night's stay. The six of us agreed that we could have spent much more time at Joy's House and if ever in Chiang Mai again, we definitely will! What a JOY!

This property was amazing! A little oasis outside of the busier area. Still close to a lot of things. Property was so charming and kept clean. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, they helped us with transportation and answered any questions we had. Great place for a family with good size rooms. The story behind this place is so fascinating and so much good comes out of this place, they work with a children’s orphanage, homeschool them and teach them how to work in hospitality so they are able to work when they are older. You can meet some of the kids there, that was our favorite part. This place does not disappoint! Only downfall was is that we didn’t have enough time to spend here. we will definitely be back for a longer period of time.

The place to be in Chiang Mai. Amazing stay at Joy’s House (2 adults + 1 baby + our 2 year old doughter). The staff makes you feel like at home. They placed 2 baby cots for us in the room. The children can run freely since the property is closed, and the pool is perfect to cool down in hot days. The staff just LOVE kids and babies. Breakfast is fantastic, with lots of home-made sweets (rice cookies, brownies, etc) and tons of different fresh fruits. We, like many other guests, followed the recommendation of doing the cooking course and … it was so good that we repeated it!!! They offer very good home made dishes in their restaurant for a reasonable price so you don’t need to go to the city center for dinner. They offer free transportation to the city centre at 10:00 in the mornings and at 18:00 to visit the night markets. We spent 6 nights there and we didn’t want to leave! If we come back to Chiang Mai, this will be, for sure, our place to stay.

This is a great place to stay, hosted by a wonderfully friendly family. We've never felt such a warm homecoming feeling. While it’s not a 5-star resort, it offers one of Thailand’s finest experiences. Many tours are available on-site. The stay was lovely, though the neighbourhood is quiet; a Bolt ride gets you to the center in 15 minutes. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and the pool is nice.

If I should point out a point that can be improved, the Wifi is not the best, so if you come with teenagers be prepared ;-). An additional shelve in the bathroom would be handy as well. Overall I would really recommend this place, you will not be disappointed.
