I really enjoyed my stay but I am obligated to mention few points for both my fellow travellers and resort management to improve Far from the old city and the prices in the resort are much higher than those outside including spa, transportation, activities Any small disarrangement in the villa will be considered as damage and you will be charged plenty of money. For example cleaning fee for our sofa was considered a damage & we were charged 3500 Bat for that so be aware When we called telling the reception that we are ready for check out, staff showed up in our villa without even knocking the door with meticulous check in front of us which we considered a rude and disrespectful behaviour

The breakfast was not good at all and very overpriced $40 each Canadian per person All food was not good. Was a live ant in my lettuce at lunch

I don't normally write reviews, but I had to sing the praises of Thantara and the staff. Our two night anniversary stay was made extra special, and the staff went above and beyond in all aspects. One night at dinner, I wasn't feeling well, and they packed up our evening meal and drove us back to the room. They also left a get well soon snack and water outside our door. This care and consideration was shown again the next morning when they were enquiring how I was at breakfast. The room and facilities were amazing. Using the bikes to cycle around the grounds was lovely. We rented the scooter with sidecar but didn't actually realise how small and slow it was, so I wouldn't recommend it if you wanted to explore the grounds. All in all a fantastic stay at thantara and we hope to return one day.

The property is very well managed, with manicured lawns and lovely animal cottages (rabbits and hens). I love that the property keeps its local heritage with the paddy fields within it. I also enjoy cycling around the property and swimming in the private pools. The staff are also very friendly. It’s an enjoyable getaway from the hustle of Chiang Mai downtown.

It would be a huge plus if a star restaurant can be added to the property.

Food options for vegetarians could have been better

This is a resort to enjoy as a point of relaxation and total tranquility. If you want to party, do not come here. They have around 20 beautiful villas with private swimming pool for each. For us it was great. However, you will not see many other guests; I don´t know why, but we stayed for a week and had the feeling we were alone. Tom the manager took really good care of us and whatever we asked for in terms of travel and entertainment, he delivered.

Maybe the feeling of being alone without contact with other guests.

Excellent resort about 20/25 mins from the center of Chiang Mai. The rooms are very nice, with high ceilings and super comfy beds. My 3 yr old thoroughly enjoyed private plunge pool overlooking the paddy fields. Some of the reviews commented on the limited selection at breakfast - we thought it was excellent and more than sufficient.

Others have commented on this - this resort is about 20-25 mins from Nimman in Chiang Mai. We didnt mind it, but if you want to make multiple visits to Chiang Mai it can be an issue.

Beautiful rooms, fantastic beds, perfect place for a relaxing time.

It is far-ish from the center but there are actually several good restaurants in the immediate area, and it's easy to get grab food delivery or a grab car anywhere. Room service/mini bar food and drink were mediocre and pricey but we didn't mind since the room was such a good value, we were willing to pay for extra convenience.

Wow, this resort was awesome! So quiet and tranquil. The villas with private pools made us feel like celebrities. The decor in the rooms was gorgeous. And the staff were so helpful and friendly. I didn't want to go home. Also loved ordering room service, fair prices for delicious food.

We enjoyed using the provided bikes, but the tires were frequently flat. I think the bikes could use some attention.

It was a very relaxing experience comparing to downtown Chiang Mai. Thantara Resort was a perfect vacation for our family to get away from urban stress.

There was a party in the village near by one night and the music was very loud until midnight. Not the resort’s fault… but we couldn’t sleep that night
