This place was great! I arrived at almost midnight because the train was late, but the man behind the desk still greeted me with enthusiasm and helped me figure out public transportation the next day to Ani Ruins. The room was small but very clean and nice and well-equipped. The next day, a hotel employee actually walked me to the correct bus stop to get to Ani, which was so nice. No one speaks English but the manager (or owner?) is an enthusiastic and proficient user of Google translate, so it was never a problem. Also, on the day I left he kindly walked me to an ATM to help me find it. If you are looking for a clean, nice, inexpensive place to stay with a helpful staff who isn't trying to sell you anything, you don't need look further, you've found it!

This was an excellent stay, made so by the service of those who work here. Even before my stay, the team were very helpful. I did not end up with my planned flight, which pushed me back a day into Kars and I was unable to request a change for my reservation via the Booking.com app, so the hotel called Booking.com and sorted everything out for me; there were no charges for missing my night or any such thing. During my stay, I feel like everyone who worked here went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed to venture out to the sights. They don’t speak perfect English, but anytime we had a gap (since I don’t know Turkish), they had their phones out to help translate. The room itself was a standard room, which was very comfortable for me. The room and bath were clean, with good water pressure. Wi-Fi was at good speeds. Breakfast had a large selection. I would absolutely stay here again and suggest for others to come here as well.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Particularly appreciated assistance with carrying our luggage from and to the car which was no problem to park directly outside the hotel. Although the staff didn't speak English, we managed most of the time to communicate via google translator. The room was fine. Likewise breakfast. Location was very good. Would recommend it.

Our key was once left in the lock of the room outside, which concerned us. Also, on one occasion, they could not find our key upon our return to to the hotel and we were made to wait outside our room for some 10 minutes before they eventually brought it and, upon entering, we found that the room had not been cleaned despite our request to do so. However, the manager and receptionist were highly apologetic and had the room cleaned immediately. This does not affect our "very good" rating for the hotel.

Hotel Kent Ani is good value for money. The rooms are warm and comfortable, the staff were very helpful even though I speak very little Turkish. Clean, comfortable, but you can see in the immediate environment of the hotel that the city is in a downwards economic slump. It is easy to find food and supermarkets nearby, the breakfast is simple but regional.

There was no way of showering without getting my hair wet. After dark and later in the evening the streets are very dark and empty, except for some men and street dogs.

Extremely friendly and helpful team at the hotel, from moment I arrived and despite my major language barrier (google translate coming to the rescue). Made me feel welcome and comfortable in an unfamiliar area. The team arranged a tour for me the following day no hassle and looked after my bag and kindly coordinated for the guide to then drop something back at the hotel which I’d left in the tour bus. Teşekkürler!

I liked everything. Not a ‘negative’, rather a comment for those considering where to stay in Kars. From what I saw, it is one of the more affordable hotels and good value for money in terms of location, services and stay. Rooms and breakfast are very adequate but obviously not the glitz of a 5-star hotel. Which suited me perfectly. My kettle didn’t work and the team filled it up with hot water downstairs.

I would rate the staff 10/10 - they were extremely helpful, waited for me for check in which was about 10.30pm, helped organise me on to buses and much more. But apart from the staff, the breakfast was good and the room facilities were adequate. Despite the couple of drawbacks, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Thank you everyone at the hotel.

The wifi was terrible in the room but very good in the lobbyî My room was freezing

Staff were super welcoming, friendly, and communicative. They accomodated a last-minute booking for a late-night (23:00) check in from the Dogu Express train from Ankara. Most of all, the receptionist was really patient with me since I do not speak Turkish. He spoke English with me for most of what I needed, like payment, finding my room, and getting to the ATM and the bus station. Great location ~13 minute walk from the train station and bus station. Plenty of restaurants, bakeries, and shops around for what you need. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. I appreciated the Western style shower with good water pressure. There was a simple, fresh, filling breakfast in the morning. Overall, really good value.

The second floor hallway where my room was did smell strongly of cigarette smoke. I know the property can't control this, as most Turkish people smoke a lot. The staff really fixed this issue well, so thanks to them! They had opened my windows for me to air out the room in advance, so my room smelled fine and had fresh air. The other floors seemed a bit better, so maybe try a higher floor and ask for the windows to be opened in advance if you're smoke sensitive. Worked really well for me!

I only stayed for 1 night, arriving late and leaving early, so this is a limited review. It was a perfectly satisfactory hotel, decent value, clean and comfortable. If I'd visited a few years ago, I'd probably have gone further and described it as a good hotel; now it is starting to look a bit 'tired', but nothing that would stop me recommending it.

The breakfast was pretty disappointing. There were plates with a very limited array of salad items, covered in cling film, some boiled eggs and some mediocre olives. That was it. I ate the boiled eggs and forced down a few olives, but didn't enjoy them. The towels in the bathroom were clearly well used and were pretty dry and scratchy and there were a couple of other minor dilapidations that wouldn't have been acceptable at the Ritz, but at a small hotel in a remote town, really can't be complained about too much.

I really enjoyed my 3rd floor room and it had a great shower and comfortable bed—the breakfast on the 5th floor was very peaceful!

It was quite hot in the room even with the windows open but that's because it was early August.

It's a really nice hotel at a perfect location! Great value for money. I'm sorry I had to leave early, because of Turkish elections on Saturday, I had to leave on Friday. I would note a special recommendation for Gökmen from Otopark Taksi. He took me to see Ani and he also brought me to Batumi! He's a very good and safe driver which was really nice especially for the drive through the mountains to Batumi!
