We spent weeks looking for the perfect stay in Cappadocia. There are three main towns in Cappadocia - Goreme, Uchisar, and Urgup. Goreme is the main spot - it has the highest density of restaurants, shops, and hotels. It’s also the busiest, noisiest, and most expensive. Uchisar is only a few minutes’ drive up the hill and parking was never a problem. We had a rental car. Uchisar is quiet, less expensive, and has the best, if not the only views of the valleys because it’s on much higher ground. The views from the rooms are unmatched in all of Cappadocia. Really. There are a couple other hotels adjacent to Caldera but Caldera is on higher ground and closer to the castle. We actually stayed in two of the rooms on different nights - the Standard Stone Double Room and the King Suite. The Standard Stone Double is lovely and has the better view. I actually preferred it to the King Suit, but the King Suite has a hot tub and a small room with two chairs and a beautiful view, separated by a door from the room with the bed. I made coffee and enjoyed it while my BF slept longer. The hot tub is lovely and luxurious. The jets aren’t strong but it was a great experience. We purchased glasses of wine at the hotel’s bar and brought them back to the room. Breakfast was incredible. Typical Turkish breakfast of cucumbers, cheese, tomatoes, olives but with special, homemade dips, delicious eggs, special breads, and fruits. Cappuccino was made for us on request and very delicious. The staff are great. They helped us park. Street parking is widespread, available, and very flexible. The staff booked for us a camel right at the last minute. We didn’t have to do anything at all. He just told us to be in the lobby at a certain time and the rest was taken care of. A ride was provided to the camels and they were all ready to go when we arrived. The camels looked great and had a good demeanor. I’ve worked with camels before. Staff put soft, clean, and beautifully designed rugs on the seats.

Can hear music from the restaurant in the early morning in the Standard Stone Double Room, but we were already awake (and always travel with ear plugs just in case). Some tiny pieces of stone debris from the ceiling can be found around the room but they’re rough-cut rooms and concrete so we expected that. Slight sewer odor in the bathroom of the King Suite, avoided by opening windows and closing the door to the bedroom.

We had a lovely stay at the hotel. It has such a beautiful setting, so picturesque and awe inspiring. We enjoyed every moment at this lovely hotel. What made our stay even more comfortable and enjoyable was the very helpful, attentive, and kind staff. My wife sprained her ankle. The help and care we received from everyone touched us tremendously. From Hamid, the restaurant manager who helped support her hobbling back to the hotel, to asking if we needed medical attention, to arranging for it...all in a most pleasant and caring manner. The hotel manager, who very kindly offered to change our room from downstairs to one that was on the same level as the lobby. So unexpected and generous an offer...to make it easier for my wife who was on cast and crutches. Wahid and the restaurant cook, who served us such a lovely breakfast and showed us care and warmth . The staff made a huge impact on us.

We were very well received at Caldera Cave Hotel. The breakfast was awesome - especially as vegetarians, there were so many fresh and healthy options for breakfast. The hotel helped us organise a taxi with a reliable taxi driver and accommodated our requests with no issues. Wahab really was a great host and always managed to make us laugh. If you do visit, be sure to try the Fettucine Alfredo (without chicken, for us) - it was exceptional!

The location was great - hard to find any other hotel in Cappadocia with a view as amazing. We had an uninterrupted view of the Uchisar castle. Breakfast was also good - generous assortment so you can try different things. The staff also did their best to make our stay comfortable. Uchisar is quieter but also not far from Goreme so the Caldera Cave Hotel was a good base for our stay in Cappadocia.

Occasionally there was a smell coming from the shower drain. It goes away though once you start using the shower. We would just close the bathroom door at night. Hopefully the hotel / city fixes this issue. Also the street parking outside the hotel wasn't easy. The street is narrow with a dead end, and there is construction nearby - so it was hard to take the car out when you leave. Better to park down the street where there is more space.

There is a nice hotel and restaurant. Very cozy rooms and polite staff. Delicious breakfast with excellent choice of meals. You can walk down the rocks just open the back door in hotel. The washing room has a small pool with hot and cool water. 24/7 reception is available and it is super comfortable.

Due to the high humidity, some of room doors have changed their shape and do not close properly. Be prepared for lightly wet sheets and a bit wet air in a cave room. Air conditioners do not always cope with moisture and stuffiness. But it’s not ruin your staying.

The room was beautifully appointed, very spacious, and the bath was large too. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating and took care of our requests as soon as possible. They spoke good English which was great for us. The breakfast was extensive, very good quality and even here they accommodated our requests. The terrace restaurant was excellent, in terms of both the sweeping views as well as the quality of the food we ordered the first night. We parked on the street just in front of the hotel without any trouble. The location was excellent… peaceful, quiet, private, perched right next to Uchisar castle, a highlight of the area, yet devoid of crowds or any tourist rush. We would recommend this to everyone unreservedly.

Nothing we can think of

Great location, wonderful staff. The view from the room was better than I could have imagined. Breakfast was a treat and always more than enough to eat. I would highly recommend eating in the restaurant in the evening, the food was delicious. Local shops and more restaurants walking distance. The room was freshened every morning, and staff were always on hand to ask if you needed anything. I will definitely be returning :)

The place looks unassuming from outside but is wonderful inside. The helpful staff gave us a free upgrade of our rooms. The stone rooms were beautiful with an outstanding view and lovely bathroom. Location was great, right beside Uchisar castle. We enjoyed the delicious breakfast overlooking the castle

Parking was a little confusing - you have to use nearby car parks but it was unclear whether they were free for hotel guests

The location is absolutely perfect. Very close to Uchisar Castle with access to a lot of rock formations, which was very nice for our kids to explore by themselves. The cave rooms are very nice decorated and spacious. Wifi very good inside the rooms. The breakfast experience it was also perfect, as it was served, not buffet.

Even everything was almost perfect, the bathtube was dark yellow spotted (I am sure because of the limestone in the water) giving the impression that was not clean and also the toilet seat was loose. Another thing - in Uchisar there are not a lot of restaurants to choose from, you should go to Goreme.

- toilet door had swollen with the damp and would close (needs to be trimmed)
