Really lovely, quirky spot. Honestly, I can't fault it. The staff were lovely and friendly. The room was clean and comfortable. We stayed here for a family trip to see Windsor & visit legoland. The location was great. I would describe the pub as a busy spot, people always coming and going, a nice crowd, friends meeting up for a pint and a bite to eat. Really good vibe. Shuts down at 10 / 10.30, so once the crowd moves on, it's pretty quiet. The rooms are really quirky and clean. The bed was comfty. We all slept pretty well. We really enjoyed our stay here. Pizza van and coffee van were an added bonus, and right up the street is some great cafes / restaurants for breakfast or dinner. We had a hire car and found street parking easy. We were out and about most days, so by the time we got home, it was lovely to drop the bags and have a pint or a wander up the street. Really enjoyed it here.

Really convenient and excellent value for money. Good central location for restaurants, shopping and castle etc. Chalet-style room behind pub was warm, spacious, clean and comfortable. Parked car a few hundred yards away in College which is free 9pm to 9am and plenty of coffee shops close by. I went to Montys up the road for breakfast. Totally hassle-free and great for an overnight stay. I was going for a meal with friends and didn't want to drive afterwards. Ideal for this.

Chalets were off beer garden which wasn't a problem for me as it was freezing outside and I was only there one night . But might be a noise issue in summer I guess.

The room was very clean and the bed/pillows newer and comfortable. Bathroom and shower were all that was needed. Thanks for the kettle I used it a few times! There was also a coffee truck on the street in the morning which was nice and this place is so close to walk up the street to anything, coffee, grocery, shops and even Windsor castle at the end of the road.

The only thing you have to be aware of is that the rooms are adjacent to the outdoor part of the pub. It wasn't obnoxious, people were just talking as they normally would but I checked to see if the window wasn't open a few times because you can hear like you were sitting at the table next to them. I was jet-lagged and had ear plugs so I slept fine. Once the pub closes it's very quiet.

Location was very good...convenient walking distance to sights, and close to parking. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. We booked 2 rooms...1 was in back next to beer garden. That room was recently updated and well-appointed. Nicely decorated. Adequate space and decent sized bathrooms.

We booked 2 rooms (see below for 1st room) The second room was upstairs above the tavern. It was NOT recently updated. The carpeting in the stairway and in the room itself was old and appeared filthy. The mattresses in both rooms were very uncomfortable--0 cushioning. We actually slept ontop of the comforter and used the decorative throw as a blanket.

This place is in a great location within a 10 minute walk to town and Windsor Castle. The staff were very helpful and assisted us getting our cases to the room. The bathroom was small, but clean and functional with natural light coming through a skylight window. There were eateries close by and an excellent Indian restaurant next door. Our room was next to the beer garden but after 10pm everything quietened down so that wasn't too much of an issue. Would definitely stay here again.

The room was quite warm, and the only window faced the beer garden so having that open early wasn't an option due to the noise. There was a fan provided which helped a little.

I loved chilling in the beer garden after a brutal day at Legoland! The fairy lights are so pretty. Our rooms were down the side of the beer garden but it closed to promptly at 10 pm and meant the kids could chill in the rooms after food and we were only a few metres away and could watch the door. I like the fact that they have third-party caterers in each night. My burger was delicious. It was also a bonus that this morning there was the most adorable coffee van packed in the alley and the coffee was excellent. If I were to return to Windsor, I would definitely stay here again.

I didn’t dislike anything about the property, but should mention the only issue we had was with parking. We managed to park a little bit further up the main street but it’s only free between 8 pm – 8 am. It just meant that I had to nip out around 7.30 in the morning to get a ticket to cover us until 10 am.

Loved the location, 10 min walk to the castle, good few restaurants 2 mins away. Nice pub. It was too cold for us to sit outside in the beer garden but looked good. They have live music on a Thursday also. Good value for money considering the area.

Nothing really, im nit picking here, bed was hard and only blinds so very bright early in the room do bring an eye mask, you can definately hear other people in rooms. There is no parking here so be aware of this. We used JIUST PARK only a 10 min walk away and saved us hastle and money. Wouldn’t like to be in this location in the summer though far too hot in the room and castle would be a nightmare with tourists. In March it was perfect.

The room was ideal for a family of 4. We arrived quite late, check in was really quick. Room was cosy, plenty of space and had everything we needed. Children liked their little bedroom. Beds comfortable. Coffee van outside was ideal, serving coffees and pastries. Good location for exploring Windsor. We managed to park right outside the pub which was free until 9am, then we topped it up til 11am for £2.50 using the Ringo app. Would stay again.

Can't think of any negatives

The Pub is only a 20 minute drive from Heathrow. Perfect place to unwind after a long haul flight from Australia. The Host was very welcoming. The rooms were delightful, extremely clean and comfortable. Parking is not a problem. We had some delicious beers in the beer garden, while enjoying pizza suppled by the van in the alley and the next morning the pizza van had been replaced with an authentic Italian coffee van with amazing homemade pastries. Highly recommend a stay here.

The Windsor Trooper is such a good location. Excellent pub, food, and accommodation. The communication from the pub was very good, from checking bed configuration to time of arrival and showing us to the room. Cannot fault the guys and gals there.

Parking can be squiffy! Nothing specifically on site, but outside, there are parking facilities centred around local enforcement, so it is possible to park close, but depends on times of arrival, etc. That said, there are car parks a short distance away.
