The Weather

Lovely room set up well for travelling with a dog with a secure terrace. Nice to have coffee machine and good selection of tea, coffee and chocolate. Lovely big bed which was extremely comfortable. Nice touch with the ball and poo bags for dog and a lovely dog bed and water bowl for him to borrow. The provided toiletries were a nice quality. We didn’t get the opportunity to eat in but both had a drink from the bar and the staff were all friendly and helpful.

The new tvs which had recently been installed did not have reception often so we could not use and the apps never refreshed past the login screen so were completely unusable. Hot water ran out on one day in shower so we took to showering at different times of the day. This only occurred on one day out of 4. It’s a lovely popular pub but patrons can be a little noisy for rooms immediately adjoining the pub, but not to an extent it was frustrating or overly intrusive.

The winning post was in a lovely location and on arrival there was a great atmosphere with people sat outside and we were greeted by saj who made us feel very welcomed, he showed us to our room which we were more than pleased with. We had a lot of dealings with Adrian who was a credit to the winning post , he answered any questions and was easy to talk to, friendly with a genuine smile on his face. We were informed that they had had there busiest week on record (royal ascot) which showed that although they were all completely knackered they still had the time and made the effort for us guests that arrived after the rush. Would stay there again definitely!!!

The breakfast was not quite up to standard, but given the week they had it wasn't an issue

Really can't fault the staff ......they were all very helpful and nothing was an issue, which these days is a welcome relief.....great food and nothing was too much trouble.

The issue I have is with the room we stayed in......two points here......the water pressure on the shower is nothing short of diabolical...... just getting wet was really difficult and getting a trickle of hot water took a considerable amount of time.....not very environmentally friendly...... Now the second comment is more subjective ...for me the room was stuck in the mid 70's......it really needs a lick of paint and updating......if you imagine lying in a bowl of pea soup then you've got the picture. Such a shame.

We arrived not long after the check in window and had a table reserved for food at 5.30. Instead of having to wait to check in on a busy Friday night, we were seated at our table, offered drinks whilst check in happened in the background and our room key arrived at our table with our drinks! The food was delicious and, despite a busy and lively night (all completely positive with some very friendly locals), the food was exceptional and drinks. After dinner we took the 15 second walk across to our room, located in the courtyard, and the facilities, decor and detail was brilliant, we loved it from the get go! Guests booking should not worry about any room from the bar/ courtyard from punters, the room was silent, we had a 3 year old with us and we all managed to get off to sleep instantly with no outside noise. The bed was super comfortable and all of the tech worked in the room as expected - the Roberts DAB with Spotify connectivity was an added bonus for our early morning Peppa Pig playlist routine! Moving onto breakfast the next morning, Full English was delicious and the Coffee was elite! Staff were super friendly and accommodating throughout and we were really sad to leave, i actually checked online if i could extend our stay for a night but they were, sadly, fully booked! So off we went in our car safely parked on site within spitting distance of both the bar/ bedroom and we'll be soon to return quickly for our regular trips to Windsor/ Ascot/ Legoland and annual trip to Lapland UK - all of which this is perfectly located close to.

Rooms were very comfy and pub itself was nice little pub in a quiet area, really like the nice size bath and lovely coffee machine and good size tv, comfy bed and also the fact that the room had a lovely door you could open to let in fresh air.

We did not have the best start as we had to move rooms through no fault of our own, the bathroom light kept going off and couldn't be fixed, so this was inconvenient after hour of checking inn, when earlier we put a coke each on our room tab so as a sorry I would thought they would been on house but no we still had pay for them so that put us off spending anymore money in the pub and ordering takeaway and drinks elsewhere. It could be quite hard to park when the pub was busy as I wasn't biggest car park. Not sure why they are using them small rubbish cartoons of milk when there is fridge in room, would be lot nicer to put fresh milk in the fridge for guests and also room are starting to show wear and tear, really undecided if we would stay again but leaning to no.

We flew into LHR but didn't want to stay there so picked The Winning Post almost randomly and it was like backing the winning horse. Staff were super friendly, the ambience is like a pub but the rooms really blew us away. The rooms were very comfortable and roomy and well laid out. Bathrooms superb, equipment superb, great tea and fresh milk. Woke up in the morning feeling completely refreshed without jetlag. Will certainly be back.

Difficult to think of something, hmmm, oh, yes perhaps serve 2 eggs on the full English!

Would have been better if you could walk from your room into the pub, rather than having to go outside through the car park. Especially as the weather was bad.

Initially being a little disappointed it wasn’t closer to Windsor than we had thought, having spent a week in this picture postcard part of the world, the disappointment quickly turned to delight. The pub is quirky, the staff can’t do enough for you, the breakfast and food in general are superb and there is a real country pub atmosphere. It’s centrally located and easy to get to anywhere you wish to visit. We will definitely be back, loved it. Thank you all. Simon, you have a great team and you make a hard job look effortless

The pub is quaint and set in a quiet location. Our room was at the back of the pub in a separate annex and room was impeccably clean and had everything you need. Beds comfortable. Table and chairs outside to drink morning coffee. Tea/coffee tray had good choice and small bottle of milk in fridge. (Nice touch) The breakfast was served in pub and staff friendly and helpful. Loads of choice. We stayed there for Windsor racing and it was 15 minute drive. Cannot rate property high enough
