Staff were exceptionally friendly, efficient, helpful and calm. Room was very clean, comfy bed, immaculate linen, lovely bathroom. Food superb in evening at restaurant and at breakfast.

Events at premises made it VERY busy, could have been warned to expect that. Wedding with drums and music so loud until midnight. Other events had very loud music so couldn't hear to talk to each other during evening meal outside. The room wasn't sound-proof unfortunately. Couldn't get the air-con below 19.5 deg so very hot in room and couldn't open window because of noise. The prices of food and drink for evening meal were rather on the high side.

Check-in is online, which was easy (the 'reception' is actually part of the pub as you enter. Excellent food menu and well presented. Helpful and friendly staff who clearly took pride in their teamwork. Open kitchen. New accommodation wing securely accessed by electronic key, away from the main part of the pub. Clean, well presented bedroom /modern bathroom. Comfortable bed. Complementary water in fridge. Brilliant breakfast included.

My idea of a quiet evening at a country pub for my husband's 74th birthday didn't happen (my fault for not reading more in-depth reviews) as the place is very large and clearly extremely popular therefore noisy. But the whole evening turned out really well and we enjoyed ourselves. The lighting at the bathroom mirror was very dim, needs a spot light or similar!

Attentive staff, very welcoming and accommodating. Our early check in request was met - thank you Tracey! Your passion shines through. Busy vibe in bar restaurant area, nice layout and efficient service, helpful, cheerful staff. We ate in the evening and despite the restaurant being extremely busy, the food was very good and our waiter was great fun and efficient! Breakfast was included in our room rate, again excellent food quality. Tiny gripe - service a bit slow (busy time) but nothing was too much trouble and all staff polite and full of smiles. Bedroom very clean and comfortable, a little too warm for our liking but easily remedied by opening window. Nice fluffy towels with complimentary toiletries. Close proximity to Ascot race course. We would stay again- thanks for having us.

Small gripes only - complimentary water missing from our room and complimentary biscuits missing from our friends room. As mentioned above, breakfast service a bit slow (long wait for drinks).

The hotel exceeded our expectations in every way, location was excellent (we were visiting Lapland UK the following morning) and despite being very busy and full, the staff were attentive and ensured we had a table to enjoy a meal in the evening, with our 1 year old. The room was perfect, clean, comfortable with lovely touches like biscuits on my little boys bed - would really recommend staying here, family friendly but with great food and drinks too!

Breakfast in the morning was a little slow - the place was very busy, full of Lapland UK visiting families which made for a very exciting morning, but this did mean we ended up not eating breakfast - we allowed 30 mins which wasn't enough time. Will be sure to stay again and leave additional time as the food looked lovely!

The hotel staff are friendly and really helpful. The restaurant and pub has a great atmosphere with open fires in the bars and real buzz of people enjoying good food and wine.

My heating didn't work on the first night, however as soon I mentioned the issue the staff went out of their way to get it fixed. The only real complaint was that the shower tray didn't appear to be clean, I thought it was stained but when I rubbed it the stain came off - I didn't mention it to the staff, but I'm sure if I had this would have been sorted.

The staff were all very friendly, quick to be served in bar area. The waitress in the evening was polite and friendly, and always made time to check everything was good, even though the restaurant was extremely busy. The check in/check out system was also very quick and easy.

There really wasn't anything not to like, I guess if you want a quiet hotel/pub to visit on a Saturday, then this one wouldn't be ideal, as it was extremely busy, but that was absolutely fine by us.

It was lovely and clean, the hotel bit felt new. The rooms were comfortable, pillows were nice (not lumpy or too soft!), perfect location as we were visiting Lapland UK - Literally a 2 minute drive. The restaurant was also brilliant, my daughter had a nut allergy and they were so hot on not contaminating the food. Superb roast dinner!

We couldn’t turn the heat down and turning the ac off made the room too stuffy. We ended up opening windows to let some fresh air in but it was quite noisy.

The room was spotless, beautifully decorated, and the bed was super comfortable (firm mattress). Staff were genuinely friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was delicious, and the restaurant in the evening had a great atmosphere.

Only small niggle was the Wi-Fi being a bit slow at times, but it didn’t spoil a fantastic visit. We'd happily come back!

Food was good, room was warm and cosy. Had all amenities needed for your stay. Close to where we needed to be for a party. Had a friendly vibe in restaurant and rooms were generally quiet. Overall, a good experience.

Some staff seemed slightly stressed especially at lunch time - just not as friendly as you would expect. Fridge in the room had drinks in but no price list so not sure what they would have cost. No explanation of breakfast arrangements or wi-fi etc in room or in person. Pillows were far too soft.

Surprised to find a bath as well as a shower, room was spacious and water and biscuits a nice treat. Plenty of free parking outside the hotel entrance

Gluten free options / alternatives which could have been presented in a more tasteful way. For example, toasted bread starter was burned and hard which made it difficult to soak up the balsamic oil. Chefs could have been more creative which made this experience a let down.
