Fantastic location. The lady on reception when I checked in on Friday evening was an absolute delight. Professional, friendly, helpful, and polite. She assisted me across to the room, which was across the car park from the main building, and explained everything about the stay and facilities. The room was fantastic. Nice and large. Sizeable bathroom with nice shower. Very efficient aircon, which was a joy in the hot weather. A small balcony with a lovely sunset view. Exceptional price for level of service and location compared to others in Reading at the same time. A great stay.

Unfortunately, a lot of the TV channels just wouldn't work. A bit of a shame if you wanted to watch telly that night.

The staff were friendly and amazing. The room was beautifully clean and had everything we needed.Aircon was efficient and the bed beautifully comfy. While our room was in the house, the main building had a beautiful period feel and was very grand. A lovely area in Reading and I will definitely be returning.Thank you.

Just to be aware that if your room is in the house you need to walk across the courtyard to breakfast. We understood that and not a problem but we did get a little wet. Breakfast while lovely was a little chaotic with foods not regularly replenished. Staff were absolutly lovely and did their very best.

The hotel exceeded my expectations and Simon operations manager went out of his way to make our stay extra special. The food was outstanding, we stayed in a quiet room with air conditioning, everything was outstanding!

I think the reception desk staff could be more willing to explain to guests what is going on, instead of cutting the conversations short and not offering an alternative choice or explanation when things go wrong for unexpected reasons.

The gentleman serving breakfast was very warm, welcoming and friendly. However, I think more breakfast staff are needed to support him as it was busy and he seemed to be doing a lot on his own. Alicija in the restaurant was exceptional. Excellent knowledge of the food, and was attentive as she checked if we had enough to drink and if we were enjoying our meal. The staff at reception were warm, welcoming and professional. The room and bathroom were very large, like a small aparthotel. The furniture and lighting were excellent. However, the touch lights by the bed didn't always come on, but this wasn't much of a problem, just something to note.

We sat in the bar after our meal and ordered different drinks, including a shot each. When the shots were brought over to the table, we noticed that the shot glasses seemed larger than usual, but to our eyes, we thought maybe they were just taller and thinner. When we got the bill, we were charged double for the shots. When queried, the staff said that they are listed as singles on the menu, but they are served as doubles as standard if you do not tell them. I said that what you serve should match what is stated in the menu as it is misleading, and we were given a refund. All staff handled this well. The bed was not as soft as I would have liked but otherwise, everything else was superb.

From the moment I walked into reception I had an inkling I would have a great experience at this hotel and I was right. The reception area smells gorgeous and Victoria at reception was really professional and so first impressions are great. My room was very spacious and the bed was very comfortable. Contemporary design with kettle and tea-making facilities, including fresh milk in the fridge, which was a real treat. Love the design of the room and the TV. Girgeous penhaligon shower gels in the bathroom. My only suggestion would be a small vanity unit in the bathroom as there is no where to place items in room 203. The evening meal was superb. Staff are very attentive and it was a pleasure to meet Simon who is one of the key managers or owners at the hotel. I had the pea soup to start and the lamb for the main, both were delicious. I also loved trying some of the tasting menu which included truffles (my absolute favourite). I traveled solo and felt completely comfortable doing so at this hotel. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Fantastic location for our office. I love the classic rooms in the main house, lots of space , all the facilities you would need and lovely little touches, the Penhaligon toiletries are a classy touch. Bathroom huge, with huge shower and bath. Great bed as well. I have only stayed so far in the winter but i wonder if the rooms might be a touch warm in the summer. however Dyson blade and fans available and for once the windows open too which is good. I will be staying as often as I can when in Reading.

Poor billing procedure, they took 2 'pending' charges from me totalled over £370 for a £150 room. Basically they processed an initial charge on arrival (and then another when I checked out). The normal procedure for this in my experience is that the hotel adjusts the balance and consolidates one transaction when the guest departs. Now I have to wait (who knows how long for the original pending charge to be recredited). Pretty much this took the shine off a nice stay. This was not explained to me when I checked in, when I querried this they just went on about banking procedures blah blah. Poor.

The size of the room, the size of the bed, furnishings, open fire, huge bathroom, deep bath. Staff are great. Main hotel feel really Christmassy and opulent. Always nice to have Martin on hand. Nyssa on the front desk swapped our room to one with a fire without issue. Wonderful!

Some fixtures and fittings beginning to look a bit tired, especially in the bathroom. Could be a bit mor generous with tea/coffee and biscuits. Open fire great but missing remote control - manual controls very fiddly. Rainfall shower head could do with a good clean. Will try and get a room that is not quite so close to the disco next year!

Location and large bedroom with high ceilings and a sense of light and architectural grandeur. This was followed through in the furniture and decor. Breakfast room was pleasant and intimate with a mix of table and self-service options. Good quality coffee served (always a bonus). I was curious to know what the hotel looked liked on the inside and to experience its services - this curiosity was satisfied on this visit. Staff were pleasant and courteous.

I didn't like paying £20 for overnight parking. The public spaces were functional but didn't feel relaxing or cosy. The ambience of the hotel was perhaps more that of a gentleman's club. I did however sit in the window of the lounge at reception to the front of the building and sketch the view of the park opposite when my wife shopped for an hour or so. It's an excellent central location overlooking Forbury Gardens.

Spacious, friendly staff, beautifully decorated, comfy beds, very clean, it was my partners birthday and they even put a happy birthday message on the table with chocolates and rose petals on the bed! Would love to come back again it’s was a wonderful experience being topped off with a couples massage at the spa which was also fabulous.

Couldn’t really fault anything as staff were friendly and couldn’t do enough to make us feel welcome. If I was being really picky I would say that the dinners are a bit small portion but then again the quality of the food was 10/10 so it’s just personal preference not actually a problem as such.
