They don't do breakfast. There are places in easy walking distance that do. They do evening meals but is a rather noisy venue with a younger target demographic than mine so the room was the only thing I used, But the room was fine, comfortable and clean. It came with a small library of rather good books which was an attractive thought of somebody's and make me feel at home Very central. Can by a little noisy late at night for that reasons It's definitely a place for people using public transport. Extremely convenient for the station. I imagine finding a place to park a car is no fun.

The breakfast bag was a nice surprise, but for someone who doesn't eat porridge or apples, it wasn't a great value for me personally. Really nice touch though, only thing I would change in that was if you had options to what was in your bag. The hotel over all was lovely, no noise from the bar downstairs, very good beds in the room, sparkling clean everywhere, and very friendly staff. I would definitely return at any given chance!

It would be nice if the coffee machine in the room actually provided hot coffee - Absolutely everything else was perfect

We loved the room! On the 2nd floor at the back of the building so nice and quiet. Spacious, clean, some interesting decorative features, especially as it is an old building. The shower was impressive, and there was plenty of tea/coffee/fresh milk/ bottled water plus a breakfast Bag to Go. We would definitely stay there again. It has a big bar area, and is clearly very popular with locals (especially youngsters!) but has a lovely, friendly feel even for us oldies.

It is a small entrance and next to a building covered in plastic/scaffolding so ignore that and just go straight in!

Great and artistic vibe, felt like I had more privacy than hotels in the same price range and more comfort. The bathroom/shower was great and really liked the interior of the room.

The lift wasn't working. Also wasn't sure how the lobby/hotel area is ran especially during the times when the bar is open like if there is staff 24/7 at the premises or not. I almost got more of a vibe of an airbnb than a hotel (not necessarily a bad thing) Just wasn't sure what to expect as some things weren't clearly outlined in the booking info so I had to look at reviews and uncertainty could cause anxiety and stress sometimes for potential guests in my opinion. Otherwise the only other small thing was that there wasn't coffee or tea present in the room at arrival but the room attendant was kind enough to give us some on the following day when I met her.

Our rooms were rather spacious and looked well-maintained and clean. For breakfast, a bad with food was waiting for us in the room, and milk was available from a central fridge. Travelling with bicycles, the staff were very friendly to find a place where we could park them securely. There are plenty of excellent eating options just around the corner.

The rooms were just above the pub on the groundfloor, with a karaoke corner and such, so there was quite some noise reaching us till the bar closed around midnight.

This was an emergency stay after being stranded in Reading so I took pot luck in booking as it was a very reasonable price. On arrival I did wonder what I had let myself in for as the rooms are above a large bar that looks like it gets a lot partying. The staircase up to the rooms (which is also up to the roof terrace of the bar) is seriously battered and looks like it has has a lot of wear from drunk people. It did not giving me faith that I had chosen well and was going to get a good and comfortable sleep. However, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The rooms were tucked back and immediately welcomed you with a feeling of luxury. My room was comfortable, clean and incredibly quiet. Everything there had the feel of an expensive hotel and there were also small items there that made a big difference - shower gel, body cream, ear plugs, coffee machine, big TV, desk etc etc. The location is excellent. There is a food and bar downstairs and being in the centre of Reading every facility that you need and close to public transport. They must also hire rooms with functions downstairs and I'd actually say it would be a good location to hold an event as a result. All in all a very pleasant surprise and if I got stranded in Reading again I would head back there immediately.

The staircase up to the rooms gave the impression of this being a really rough hotel. Pleasantly surprised once I got there, but the outward impression on arrival is quite different. Don't judge a book by its cover!

The location was good, the room and bathroom modern and worked. The breakfast bag was a good idea and appreciated.

I hadn't realised that the room was above a noisy bar, but it did quieten down at around 11pm. The bedsheet was just sitting on top of the mattress, leaving the mattress visible rather than being tucked in. This struck me as being less hygienic and allows the bedsheet to move leaving guests sleeping on the mattress. I couldn't get the TV to connect to any of the Freeview channels.

An undiscovered gem in the centre of Reading. It was quirky and very different from your chain hotels. Lovely room (room 7). Extremely comfortable, and I loved the extra touches of water and milk in the Reception fridge.

The only thing I wanted to comment on were the windows! They weren’t clear, didn’t open and you couldn’t see clearly through them. It felt slightly claustrophobic even though the room was large. It wasn’t a huge deal for me however, as everything else was so wonderful.

Room was well decorated, a very cosy vibe and supplied tea/coffee as well as milk! Lovely shower gels/shampoos/conditioners provided in the shower ( which was massive). A brilliant stay with brilliant facilities. The entertainment and games downstairs looked amazing but we booked as accommodation for Reading Festival so did not have a chance to explore. The staff were brilliant with adjusting for an early check in to fit in with our Reading Fest plans, which really helped us during our stay and we were very grateful. We would love to stay at a Market House location again!

The building was having some redecoration/ restoration so the lift was out of order, there was scaffolding and exposed plaster about in the corridors leading to the room and along the stairs but it didn’t bother us during our stay :).

I'm honestly so impressed with this place. We were worried when we saw that the rooms were over a bar, and we walked up a slightly dingy staircase. But then you enter the hotel bit, the door closes behind you - complete silence. I have no idea how they do it! Somebody's done an incredible insulation job. The room was wonderful - large and comfy and very tastefully decorated. One of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. Immaculately clean. Aircon and two layers of double-glazed windows to keep out the noise. Fancy tea and a Nespresso machine provided. Very good value for the location and how fantastic the room was. A hidden gem - absolutely stay here if you're looking for a central option in Reading!

The place is very central so it's noisy outside - the windows are very good at keeping it out though, and there's Aircon so even in summer it doesn't get hot! Reception staff could have been a bit friendlier. But we didn't talk to them much.
