The cottage was part of a delightful compound connected to the Manor House where the owner lived. You enter through an electric gate into a large gravelled area where there's ample parking. Although talked about, we didn't appreciate the quality of the community shop and cafe. Its adjacent to the house, and sells everything you'd need for a stay plus the cafe makes a great breakfast. Its a lovely part of the village. The house itself is large and open plan on the ground floor with a great kitchen and plenty of seating. The heating is underfloor so it heats up really quickly and holds the heat which was essential in the cold weather we just had. There are 2 bedrooms, reached by separate staircases from downsrairs so ideal for 2 different parties. Each had a nice bathroom, although a lack of shower upstairs was a mild annoyance. There is a shower room downstairs with WC so you can still do that. We visited Basildon Park, Pangbourne and Goring in our stay which are no more than 20 mins away. The pub in the village is nice, but was missing quite a few dishes when we visited.

Only thing really would be no shower in the upstairs bathrooms which meant if you wanted a shower you walked downstairs

Thank you Betts family for a beautiful stay. From start to finish it was perfect. We used this property as a half way point for Peppa Pig world and Lego Land after travelling from Ireland by ferry to Pembroke. The village shop located across the courtyard from the property was exceptional, fully stocked with everything and more for your stay and a bonus was the coffee shop with freshly baked everything. Delicious. The apartments themselves were fully stocked with everything you would need for self catering stay. Property was exceptionally clean and I just couldn't say enough good things. Thank you.

Amazing location! Quintessential quaint English village with 10th century church next door! Loved the vibe and thoroughly enjoyed the community store, exploring the lovely walks, spots and great restaurants. Everyone was super friendly, especially Mark from the hair salon next door! Staff from the manor house was friendly and very helpful. They even told us to pick their apples in the lovely back garden - we did and they were delicious! We would stay again, and visit the Gin distillery on the property for a tasting, which was just setting up when we were there Aug 2024. We highly recommend this little gem!

Minor things: The room was smaller than expected, as presented in ad photos, no place to put luggage. When we asked for more toilet paper we were told the visitor was to supply any additional needs and to buy it at the community store. I was surprised, based on the price.

The cottage was so cosy, the perfect place for a little getaway. The bed was so comfy and the jacuzzi bath was an added bonus. The food in the cafe next door was so delicious, and the shop had everything we needed during our stay. The surrounding area was quiet and beautiful, so we took a peaceful walk through the woods. The owner was very welcoming and helped with our needs. A lovely place to stay, I would certainly visit again.

There wasn't anything we didn't like about our stay.

Beautiful place. Comfy furnishings. Very comfy bed! Well equipped kitchen. Lovely little shop in the same courtyard.

Under floor heating so a little hard to control accurately. Takes quite a while to warm up or cool down. But that's just my personal taste and the converse is that it's very eco conscious.

Very spacious property. Both bedrooms had en-suites and there was a shower room downstairs. Access straight onto a lovely enclosed garden. Plenty of seating space and a wardrobe in each bedroom. Lots of hooks by the front door and a washing machine available.

It felt a little tired, e.g. the cotbed mattress was stained, towels were mismatched and some had bleach stains, an already used kitchen sponge was supplied.

Rural location Good area for walking Very open countryside with long reaching views and wildlife.

Village pub not open every night. Recently changed hands and needs a lot of work on exterior to make it look appealing.

We had a problem with the emptying of the bath whilst there which was not resolved as it was important to get the harvest in which I completely understand on a working farm

Fantastic Community Shop, so no need to take any food/drink in your luggage. Excellent dog walks. Lovely "secret garden" for use by cottage users.

Noise of moving about from "Hayloft", which is located above The Stable". We think they were running marathons up there, each evening. Local pub only open Thursday to Sunday.

The properties and facilities are absolutely exceptional. It is the perfect peaceful country retreat. The owners could not have been more helpful, kind and ensured we had everything we needed. I cannot wait to return again.
