Great location for reading and London.. Newbury to London Paddington by train return £27 I advised you book train tickets in advance as trains are super busy.took 45 minutes to get there. and same back even had time for a pint in paddington before return journey

The girl staff who was on Friday I found rude , also rude in morning, kept turning toaster off cause she was hot and customers had to wait for toaster to reheat, breakfast is nice but sloppy, like 200 soldiers had been in before you and you was left with the scrapping on both days , sort that girl out , top up breakfast items , hpr can be used on some items!

Unfortunately I have been staying at the hotel for nearly three weeks due to my brother being gravely ill who lives in South Oxfordshire and I live oop north In Lancashire. However although selected in a " rush " the Orida has proved to be an ideal " bolt hole". I haven't spent a great deal of time at the hotel due to the circumstances but everything has been extremely good. As with every business the biggest asset is the members of staff. I can honestly say that every member of staff I have had dealings with has been polite... friendly...professional and above all with a sense of humour. It would be unfair to name names obviously but in my honest opinion the staff I've had contact with are an excellent envoy for Orida. Thank you very much. Kind Regards Stuart Turner

I booked this hotel at short notice to attend some delicate family business and have extended my stay a few times to over a fortnight. I'm glad I did it's been a most pleasant stay ...without exception all the staff I've come across have been professional friendly and polite. No issues whatsoever. Looking at some of the reviews posted about the Orida Newbury I must be staying at a different hotel. Many thanks to all concerned. I'm still here!!! and maybe for a bit longer. The staff were really helpful when I arrived they helped me with a problem I had he didn’t need to. The guy was called Vincent and he was excellent which gave a really good impression and the breakfast stuff. Also managed to find some mushrooms to cook for me, which was even though they weren’t on the menu.

I really think it is unfair that they charge hotel guests for parking. It is not in the middle of the city. It’s on the A34 with no nearby towns. I can’t see who else might park there. If they’re going to charge. They need to add that onto the price that you pay when you book So that the person searching for hotel rooms can see the true price

The room was nice, bed comfortable & everything clean. Also although I didn't use them I appreciated the iron & ironing board & safe in my room. Nice breakfast which was included in the price.

I mainly came for the swimming pool which was available at decent times but the water was too warm & therefore not refreshing, resulting in the pool's atmosphere being hot & stuffy, particularly by the afternoon. I also felt that it was over chlorinated, as the chlorine could be smelt even in the reception area of the hotel.

A good size room with a comfortable bed. We enjoyed a bar meal on our arrival which was good value for money. A good breakfast with many choices.

The room lighting was not too good which made the room rather dark. The light switches were some way from the door, which meant having to enter a darkened room with only the corridor light to assist in finding the light switch. I also reported the fact that the left hand side bedside light went out when sitting or laying on the bed indicating a trapped or damaged cable under the bed. As this was only discovered late in the evening we coped without the light during the night. The wall covering was torn on one wall and on another wall was peeling away. Although well equipped it was plain that a refurbishment is really needed.

Lovely modern reception/ lounge & restaurant area. Reception was a lovely space, good sofas to chat & bar available in reception for a drink. Suspect this area all modernised as a priority over the rooms. Good sized rooms but slightly tired & in need of update at some point. Particularly liked the availability of a swimming pool, made our stop over feel like a real holiday! All facilities were working; pool, sauna, steam room & jacuzzi. Changing room with clothes spinner.

Nothing was bad but things needed an update; tiles with holes that had been filled in as appliances had been updated. Carpets dated. Fold out sofa bed not that comfortable, felt very 'springy'. Poor shower presssure in the pool changing rooms but was still extremely happy to have a pool at all for the price.

There was an issue between the booking.com booking including my little boy and the hotel not having a record. Vincent on reception was amazing he responded promptly to my email ringing me back when I couldn't get through. He rectified everything and sorted parking out too. The problem wasn't the hotels fault and he was brilliant sorting it out.

Hotel was a little tired shower curtain didn't keep the water in so made a mess in the bathroom. Other guest were noisy in the night

Large room, comfy bed, nice bathroom, clean and provided essentials needed. Smart reception, pleasant front desk staff (thanks for your help Vincent). Haven't tried the spa yet, this my 2nd stay. Good night's sleep. Quiet rooms. Hotel staff offered to challenge parking eye ticket.

Restaurant staff indifferent to serving me. Food is overpriced for what it is. Parking Eye run the car park, who I would rather boycott due to the appalling way they operate. Make sure you register your car.
