Very beautiful location and our room was comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful, particularly Gemma, Eve and Lily.

There was no mini-fridge and microwave in the room and the food and service in the restaurant can be very inconsistent. I ordered grilled salmon for dinner, and when it arrived, it had a distinct odour indicating that it had gone off. I flagged this and requested a different meal which they accommodated. But it is worrying that the expired salmon got past both the cook and the server in the first place.

Particular thanks to Lachlan and Dawn who were exceptionally helpful and went above and beyond. Catering for my daughter with Coeliac with some of the other members of staff wasn't the best, however, Dawn made sure she had a freshly prepared meal. We stayed in a Summer House room which was right next to the hotel. Breakfast was also excellent.

Room cleanliness wasn't great and as there were a few of us staying at various locations in the hotel, this was a recurring theme as all of us commented on differing levels of cleanliness. The outside lighting is awful for when it's dark, we had to use torches on our phones to see where we were going, more lighting is needed, especially for safety when wallking from the main building to the suites at the very end of the road.

We hired a lodge in the grounds of the hotel. It was quiet and a great location. We ate in the hotel a couple of nights and the food was great. The staff were polite; friendly and professional.

My only concern was the cups in the kitchen cupboards were dirty. They had probably been put away dirty. So this means they were not checked for our arrival. There was no dishcloth to wash up with and to wipe surfaces down with. I left a note and also asked the housekeeper when she knocked to see if we required the lodge serviced, but no dishcloth was provided. A small matter I know but just made it more difficult to leave crockery & cutlery clean for the next people in Room 17.

Staff very attentive, and tried all they could to resolve any issues. During the stay, Breakfast was great albeit the waiter forgot to check how eggs were preferred and if toast was required and needed prompting. He was apologetic after (only three tables in use at the time)

The room was very dusty and I could write my name in the dust on the bathroom shelves! I think the heating vent went through the corner of the room and this was very noisy caused problems when trying to sleep and kept me awake for hours. TV remote did not work at all, staff tried their best to resolve with new batteries but to no avail. Public areas such as the bar were very cold and draughty although the bedroom was hot with no thermostat to adjust, an open window in -3 deg not always the best solution when you have health problems.

Superb location surrounded by trees, a lake, beautiful buildings, inside a Golf Club area. We loved the wake up in the nature, with ducks and squirrels. The hotel is just few min driving from Newbury centre. Room was comfortable and quite big.

Our room was in a small separated building, and it was fine, but looks quite old with few spots that needs to be improved, as the open-shower or room-temperature can't be set easily. Cleanless could be improved, but anyhow was acceptable. Overall everything was ok, but with a small improvement can be superb as the location, building and the area are wonderful.

Always enjoy our stay, lovely location, excellent breakfast, staff very friendly, rooms really cofy.

Door to Summer House 4 needs attention as very difficult to open and shut. One bedside lamp didn't work, plus was found on the floor, had to move the bed to get it out and plugged in.

Stunning views, beautiful surroundings.

Supposed to be reserved parking spaces for the rooms (numbered) but the privileged golfers just park in them if they like and no one does anything about it. Three times when we got back from being out (in two days) we couldn’t use our space. Oh, and they cut the grass right outside the bedroom window at 7.30am. Nice.

Clean, warm, very friendly welcome.

It was not made apparent when booking that all accommodation is not in the main building. I would not have booked if I had known this. As a lone female, I had to venture in the dark to seek out poorly lit, poorly signed accommodation across an estate. Not a comfortable experience. Shower also does not hade a directable head and just falls from a large square in the centre of the ceiling, not great if you do not plan to wash your hair. No shower caps are provided to combat this. Fortunately I carry one with me.

We stayed in the Pavilion lodge. Really lovely - comfortable bed, big kitchen and lovely private terrace onto a garden. Parking right outside. Very quiet and tranquil, excellent wifi. We had dinner in the bar at the hotel as well and that was good and reasonably priced. The hotel itself is very pretty and is well located.

A few little things could be improved - the heating was off when we arrived and it was very cold and took a while to warm up, the telephone didn't work so we couldn't contact reception easily and there were a few kitchen utensils missing e.g. bottle opener, can opener. The receptionist did come down with a few plug-in heaters for us though when she heard we were initially cold, which we appreciated. And once we worked out the slightly confusing heating (maybe some stickers on the thermostat saying hot/cold and/or some explanatory documents would help?) it warmed up quickly.

Fantastic stay in a gorgeous venue. The room was a "lake view" and it did not disappoint, gorgeous grounds and views. The gentleman at reception was very kind and welcoming. The room was so clean and serviced daily. The cleaning staff do an incredible job, it was sparkling. Will be back!

The only thing I didn't like was the design of the shower in the bathroom. It was wet room style so when you have a shower the water goes all over the bathroom floor and doesn't drain down properly. The room was stunning though so worth the slight inconvenience of a naff design of shower.
