We were given a free upgrade to the Bridle suite which was beautiful. Staff were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant

If I had to make a complaint it was that the beans on the breakfast was cold but it wasn’t a big issue

Breakfast was superb! As were both dinners! Staff was excellent, both young ladies at dinner were a joy to deal with and Max a genuinely wonderful person and a credit to your organization. If we still had our business at home I would hire him in a heartbeat! The fresh cream for coffee in the morning (at the door step) was a delightful touch!

Room was great, but to be honest a bit small. We As understand you had to work with the footprint you had but perhaps slightly different furnishings might help. Especially in the bathroom, a shelf or small table to put toiletries on would be an excellent addition. Lastly a mirror by the doorway (where there is a power outlet) or on the desk would be useful as the cord for the hair dryer is not long enough to reach the mirror by bathroom and see what you are doing.

The room was quite spacious, very clean and wonderfully decorated. The coffee machine was a nice touch, with various coffee pods provided, as well as fresh milk on request. The large shower was amazing and the bed was comfortable. The room was quite hot, but a silent fan was provided. The bed was comfortable but would have benefited from a summer quilt as it was quite thick and heavy (realise not everyone would think so?). The staff were very obliging, cheerful and helpful, although we did get the impression they were short staffed, with one of them covering reception, bar and dinner (on a 12 hour shift!). We had booked 14 people for a private function (reunion) lunch on Saturday and everything went extremely well, the food and service were excellent - and I would like to thank the staff and chef for making it such a memorable occasion.

The quilt was thick and heavy, probably not required for such a hot room, although I realise not everyone would think so. The full English breakfast on Sat morning was quite dry (black pudding and hash brown) and possibly a little overcooked.

A hidden gem!what a lovely place!staff were all super friendly and helpful!we decided to use the hotel upon returning to the uk from Spain!It was father's day and the hotel had sold out of food!I'm not surprised it looked fantastic,but the staff helped us order food into the hotel and allowed us to sit with our pizza in the bar!It's a beautiful renovation of an old bar and outbuildings,very dog friendly!Alex the manager is a diamond!it will undoubtedly be a regular stop for us on route to and from Portsmouth!Lovely breakfast which we couldn't fault!and the argentine lady in the restaurant even presented our dog with a sausage lol she's got a friend for life!Thank you so much for the wonderful stay folks!See you soon!

This is just a stunning place. The decor was beautifully done - as someone that works on homes, it really felt like a home from home and was so comfortable and indulgent too. The staff were just fantastic. I would love to give a special mention to the chief - he prepared a special meal for me due to food intolerance which I had emailed ahead time. Five stars. Also Kieren was amazing. He was rushed off his feet but he was kind and took the time to be friendly even though he was under pressure with the work load. He was running the bar on a busy Saturday lunch as well as serving food and manning the front desk. I applaud him. Rebecca was also very hard working and kind too during my solo stay.

My room was a little chilly and I was unsure how to work the heating as there were no instructions - apart from that the only thing I didn’t like was leaving!!

Location was excellent for our trip to the Watermill theatre. The decor is amazing and very inviting with interesting wall art.

Room 7 on the 2nd floor was very hot 28c when I arrived. Only one small window opened and there was a small fan but no air con or fridge. The bathroom was tiny and most annoyingly had an automatic light which stayed on for ages through the night and the rain shower came on spontaneously at 3am. Room 3 was much much bigger, cooler, with big windows that opened and a bigger bathroom. Max the manager who worked so hard and was so professional & helpful made our stay good.

Everything! From the tiniest element of decoration, everything felt classy, comfy and unique! We absolutely loved our stay, it was magical! Staff - exceptionally nice and friendly, delicious food, magical atmosphere. The place was nice and cosy and really well thought through - they have even provided us with a fan to make it more comfortable on a crazy hot night. Highly, highly recommended!

I want to say: nothing. But if I noticed anything that would be subject to improvement, was a little mould on the shower walls, nothing major, just a normal process of the wet are usage.

Food was excellent. It starts with great produce then gret kitchen skills. Both were excellent. I had a Turkish style mixed grill plate done on a Robata grill so BBQ style. Seriously good. The staff made it really. We had some minor issues but they couldn't have been more helpful. Very attentive without being annoying as some can be. I don't want to leave a bad review as our only issue was just certain aspects of the room. Everything else was excellent. Would we stay again? Absolutely no doubt at all.

The room let things down badly so a real shame. Grubby stained carpet a bit gross but then again who would pick beige in the first place. A rain shower head in the shower fantastic. Except....the only bits water came out of was the outer ring. I think if you stood directly under it, you would stay dry. Limescale maintenance needed. Bathroom underfloor heating didn't work and staff couldn't crack it either. You needed a BA with honours to work the control out. Never did. Seriously noisy sliding door that wakes anyone else up in the room at night. Glass door on it and no bathroom blackout. So 5am when the sun came up the bathroom was like the pitch at Wembley and it then shone through the bathroom door. The bedroom was daylight.

I liked the room (18 "Canter") very much. The bed was very comfortable and I loved the design of the room with its plantation shutters and its interior decor. The shower area was great and cleverly designed too with the sliding door and the temperature of the hot water was just right requiring no adjustment. Having a wide screen tv was very relaxing. And the sloe gin was delicious. Max, the young man on duty (double duty as it turned out) was immensely helpful. His quiet and sensitive manner was impressive: he was involved with the Wake for my father's funeral with minimal staff to help and when an unexpectedly large number of attendees arrived, he managed to cater for them with flexibility and without fluster. My family is very grateful to him and the supporting staff.

There was a slightly grimy rim round the plughole in the basin. The soundproofing could have been better: I heard telephone conversations, loos flushing and quite a lot of tramping around from the upstairs bedroom; perhaps carpeting would help with the acoustics. And it would have been useful to have an information about breakfast times. A few capsules of cream and milk would have been good too.

I've stayed at the Hare & Hounds a few times in the past 3 months and it is always a great stay. The rooms are exceptionally comfortable and well equipped although the raindrop shower in the room I had this week needs some maintenance. I did try to speak to someone before I left in the morning but staff were too busy with breakfast. Dinner met the very high quality standards that I've experienced before and the selection of wines and beers is fantastic. They have changed the way breakfast is served from my last stay in early Feb and although it was still excellent, it wasn't quite as good as before! Staff are always super friendly and helpful so all in all, another great stay.
