All aspects of the stay were excellent, the quality of the rooms, beds, linen/towels, service, F&B all very good, and the hotel is in a great location. Recommend without hesitation, but with an advisory, if you are not a (very) sound sleeper avoid front facing ground floor rooms (e.g. 3 and 4).

My friends and I were in rooms 3 and 4 ground/street level. Unfortunately, cars and conversations of passers by could be heard very clearly, which meant none of us slept well on the first night. With thanks to the front desk who moved us, without fuss, for the following night to rooms 22 and 26 upstairs and back-facing and it was a nice quiet night. As I mentioned the rooms are gorgeous and the beds are extremely comfortable, if you are a good heavy sleeper the noise in these rooms may not be a problem, but a light sleeper will likely be disturbed.

Great location right on Market Street in the centre of town, and the rooms we had were to the rear of the property so no noise. The bar food and drinks menu was excellent both in terms of quality and choice and the rooms (albeit brand new) were absolutely fantastic, clean and well appointed.

Not everything can be perfect, right, so the check in could have been better as it wasnt obvious where to go, so we had to walk through the bar with our bags and cases. Even then the staff were super helpful and sorted us out.

There was nothing not to like. Beautifully decorated, exceptional room and amazing staff. Was staying for work but would book to go back. Never been to Newbury, lovely town. Food in pub was also amazing. Attention to detail, welcome note, petit fours, spacious and comfortable bed. I could have moved in. Onsite parking was icing on the cake. All the staff were amazing but a special shout out to Chris. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

I booked Coat and Bear for a business partner who loved it. His room was in the Court Yard, a short walk from the main bar and restaurant. It was clean, spacious and high quality finishings. We both had dinner on the first night, which was excellent. The food and beverage menu was excellent. The staff were courteous and polite with lots of smiles. There was parking directly across the road. Very easy to get to. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed and convenient location in town

There aren't many rooms that face the road but sadly we were unfortunately in one of those and we did not sleep well due to the noise. It isn't the hotels fault of course but maybe a heads up that is what is on offer, we would have been willing to upgrade to get away from the noise if they had mentioned it. Again, they can't help street noise but that made for a tougher night than we expected.

Good sized rooms, great decor, comfortable beds and modern, up-to-date bathroom.

The person who registered us when we arrived kept calling my mother and me 'you guys!' I'm nearly 60 and my mother 90 years old. He was wearing white training shoes and sent us up the stairs to look for our rooms. He was very pleasant, but could have shown us to our rooms.

Great location with fabulous rooms that have been beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. It has a fantastic bar and restaurant downstairs that's well worth a visit and the breakfast was very tasty and definitely not to be missed. Staff were all very helpful and all in all, we had a fantastic time and can't recommend this Hotel highly enough.

Check in nice and easy. Room was beautiful and we had complimentary sweet treats. TV wasn't working so was promptly moved to an upgraded to another room which was equally lovely. Would highly recommend and this place is my new preferred place to stay when visiting my home town.

The grand lux room was fantastic and full of character, the open bar room had a lovely feel and the service was at the right level.

Check in was frustrating, not clear on how, app did not help and nobody on the desk when we arrived. After this was done the rest of the stay was great.

Breakfast included was unexpectedly sensational. The rooms were also gorgeously decorated. The staff were also extremely helpful and polite and made us feel welcome.

The shower had 20 handles and figuring it out was annoying. The bed itself wasn’t nearly as comfortable as it looked.
