Location is perfect. The accommodation decor is lovely. They kindly allowed us to check in early and get changed for the races.

There doesn’t appear to be a 24/7 reception or help desk. Our room, no. 8, although great decor, was in the worst location of all rooms. Same level as car park, 3 times a lorry alarm went off during Saturday night. Also it was next to rear access to the hotel, all night the door was being used and banging, waking us several times. We were told the room was overlooking the courtyard. It was other side of the courtyard, adjacent to the car park. Breakfast was rather chaotic Sunday morning, this was due to staff appearing to require further training although they were very nice and tried to be helpful.

All aspects of the stay were excellent, the quality of the rooms, beds, linen/towels, service, F&B all very good, and the hotel is in a great location. Recommend without hesitation, but with an advisory, if you are not a (very) sound sleeper avoid front facing ground floor rooms (e.g. 3 and 4).

My friends and I were in rooms 3 and 4 ground/street level. Unfortunately, cars and conversations of passers by could be heard very clearly, which meant none of us slept well on the first night. With thanks to the front desk who moved us, without fuss, for the following night to rooms 22 and 26 upstairs and back-facing and it was a nice quiet night. As I mentioned the rooms are gorgeous and the beds are extremely comfortable, if you are a good heavy sleeper the noise in these rooms may not be a problem, but a light sleeper will likely be disturbed.

The property is located in the middle of the city so it's a five minute walk from the train station, which for us was helpful. There are many restaurants nearby to choose from, although the restaurant in the hotel was also very good. The staff are welcoming and so very helpful. The rooms have been recently remodeled and are lovely. The bed is very comfortable and the AC works brilliantly.

Our room was a ground floor room and street noise and people walking by can be distracting.

Great location right on Market Street in the centre of town, and the rooms we had were to the rear of the property so no noise. The bar food and drinks menu was excellent both in terms of quality and choice and the rooms (albeit brand new) were absolutely fantastic, clean and well appointed.

Not everything can be perfect, right, so the check in could have been better as it wasnt obvious where to go, so we had to walk through the bar with our bags and cases. Even then the staff were super helpful and sorted us out.

There was nothing not to like. Beautifully decorated, exceptional room and amazing staff. Was staying for work but would book to go back. Never been to Newbury, lovely town. Food in pub was also amazing. Attention to detail, welcome note, petit fours, spacious and comfortable bed. I could have moved in. Onsite parking was icing on the cake. All the staff were amazing but a special shout out to Chris. We will definitely be back. Highly recommended.

The staff were really lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The location was very good. Parking was excellent.

We originally were put in room 3 which was right next to the road and pavement. It was quite noisy. But when I mentioned it we were moved to a much better/bigger room away from the road for the second night. I would definitely stay again but would request not to stay in rooms 3 or 4.

Immaculate room with lovely touches like sweet treats, a little welcome note on the table and Classic FM playing! Gorgeous decor and everything you need in a hotel room. Brilliant location right in the centre of town with a car park at the back. Very quiet. AC in the room was lovely as it was unseasonably hot for late April.

The bed was a little bit soft for us but we are used to sleeping on a very hard mattress, so don't let that put you off.

I booked Coat and Bear for a business partner who loved it. His room was in the Court Yard, a short walk from the main bar and restaurant. It was clean, spacious and high quality finishings. We both had dinner on the first night, which was excellent. The food and beverage menu was excellent. The staff were courteous and polite with lots of smiles. There was parking directly across the road. Very easy to get to. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, comfortable bed and convenient location in town

There aren't many rooms that face the road but sadly we were unfortunately in one of those and we did not sleep well due to the noise. It isn't the hotels fault of course but maybe a heads up that is what is on offer, we would have been willing to upgrade to get away from the noise if they had mentioned it. Again, they can't help street noise but that made for a tougher night than we expected.

Room was beautifully decorated, large comfy bed, excellent location. We ate in the pub for dinner and food was great. They also gave us a selection of sweet treats on arrival which was lovely gesture. Would definitely stay at another Heartwood Inn again.

Changing towels every day - not necessary and bad for the environment. We hung them up but the cleaners replaced the entire towel set anyway.
