February 2025
I booked four rooms through booking.com at The Miller of Mansfield for one night Feb 1st. Really lovely welcome. Helpful friendly staff. Everything explained relating to the doors and returning later than pub hours. There is no parking (limited three cars) at the pub as it’s a rural area near the river and the building is old. We all found parking nearby (5cars). Feared help with luggage. The rooms were superior rooms. Tea and cofffw and biscuits in the room and fresh milk in a small communal fridge. Our room had floorboards not carpet. Really nicely appointed room. Room 7. If I was going to be critical I would say that it needs better lighting for doing hair and make up as the lamp is inadequate and there are no main lights. I informed the staff of an issue with the stability of one of the pieces of furniture. The bed was really large, comfortable and the linen was good quality with really decent pillows. Good state fluffy towels and luxury toiletries. Giant bath for two! Full size window with a roman blind (not blackout) not an issue for me. We got back late and the bar was closed but the bar staff were welcoming and gave us a place to sit and some glasses and we were able to have a glass of wine that we had bought with us. Breakfast was incredibly good. Lots of choices ordered from a menu. Full English as well as full vegetarian. Personally I would have liked a meat free sausage rather than the crispy veggie stick. It was delicious but it’s just a personal preference as a veggie. Great coffee and good quality bread. All my friends loved their stay and although we did not eat in the pub, the food looked delicious. We have all said that we will come back here for the next event that we attend nearby. The staff here made this a quality stay. A lovely personal goodbye.

Lovely old building, easy to navigate / access and parking available on street for free. The staff were lovely and very obliging! Breakfast was fantastic. Good value stay all round really.
Sadly I had no hot water in my room so had to head downstairs to get this resolved in the morning. One of the boilers was off I believe… then they turned it on but the heating also came on and the radiator would not switch off so my room was boiling as 18 degrees outside also. The sound of a macerator kept going off in my room intermittently throughout the night waking me up, along with the church bells every hour so I didn’t sleep well due to all of that noise.

There was a friendly atmosphere and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food at breakfast and evening meal was very good. The bar area was comfortable and the beer good.
We were given a double room with ensuite but for some reason there was no door to the en suite. We asked to change rooms and the staff were very obliging and moved us to another room. However, this was even more odd - as you entered you stepped immediately into the ensuite, which was tiny and I mean tiny! You took one step forward and then went through another door into the bedroom. A very strange arrangement. The shower was a very small cubicle with no hot water.

The location was perfect; the room and facilities were lovely and clean. The staff were helpful and friendly.
The only down side was that we had a roast dinner (cavery) on the Sunday when we arrived. Unfortunately it was only half hour before they stopped serving, and we got the ‘leftovers’ - the food dry and virtually cold - even with hot gravy on top. It’s a shame as we’re sure the food itself was tasty and good quality, had we had it earlier in the day. We did mention this to one of the waiters who said he would feed this back, but no one spoke to us about it. We paid full price.

Good location near the Thanes path. Quirky room, comfortable but small. Good breakfast
No IPA available and the worst fish and chips we've ever had! Tasted like the oil they used was old, very small portion of chips (even the waitress agreed). Communication between staff was poor- my husband asked for baked beans instead of peas, a staff member came to check he was OK with home made ones and the meal still arrived with peas. And the bill had a service charge added without our knowledge. We wouldn't eat here again.

The room was lovely. It was nice to stay somewhere that had some thought put into personalising the rooms. All the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful. The location was a perfect stop for us on our journey along the Thames Path and Goring a cosy little town to spend a bit of time in before setting off again.
Breakfast was tasty but could have been more generous. Missed the opportunity to have cereal, fruit, fruit juice, yoghurt and toast before the hot selection. Not a show stopper as the hot options we had were tasty (and honestly, sufficient) ... its just that when holidaying, you like that little bit extra.

It was a lovely quiet location. The pub was very busy when I Arrived but was immediately greeted by a member of staff who showed me to my room. It was well appointed and I liked the fresh milk available in the fridge on the landing. All the food was of good quality well presented and reasonably priced and the staff were well trained and nothing was too much trouble. it was a lovely location the river 5 minutes one way and the station 5 the other way. Breakfast service was also excellent with good choice available.
The painted wooden floors were a little slippery for older guests and I would have preferred traditional curtains in the room! However all in all a good experience in an excellent location!

Lovely pub. In a great location for the wedding we were staying in. We were able to collect our keys early and leave our luggage there. This was dropped into the bedroom for us. The room we had was at the top of the property up two flights of stairs and was lovely - very spacious! Bathroom was lovely! All very nicely kept. Very impressed. Bed very comfy. Quiet location and you have a key and a fob to get in out of hours. Breakfast in the morning was also really tasty! Recommend this place.
The only negatives for me were, we were woken up in the morning (at about 9.30am) by the cleaners I think. They were talking very loudly and moaning about the stairs and mess left in a room, they were shouting to each other, we found this quite inconsiderate of staff. There are tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no milk…. Could do with some milk. There was also what seemed like incontinence pants in the bedside drawers… possibly left there by the last occupants.

Room we had was lovely But there was a chunk of the tile on step missing goin into the bathroom .so had to be careful we didn’t cut our feet . Room windows obviously only open so much for safety but the room was roasting so ideally could do with puttin a fan in there for people Stayin as we were boiling . Think the breakfast was not as good for the price we opted for the room tbh No cereal option before hot breakfast like most hotels have
Too warm

Miller of Mansfield is a historic pub in the centre of Goring and very close to the beautiful River Thames path. It has an ancient and quirky feel. My room was a delightful ‘attic’ type room with a wonderful view of the gardens and trees opposite. Quirky layout to the room with ‘open plan’ bathroom, almost in the room. Very friendly and professional and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast. Bed and linen very comfortable, lots of hot water, shower perfect.
My room had an ‘open plan’ feel to it with no door to the bathroom/toilet. I was on my own and so no problem, it could have been a problem for couples who didn’t know each other too well or who desired more privacy.
