A week long stay to do a course, Raj was the highlight, a warm and friendly guy, exceptionally accommodating, let me park my car in the back before check in so I could go off to my course, always making sure to see if I needed anything, fridge, microwave, teas and coffees, Thank You so much, I Highly Recommend.

No real negatives, It was ridiculously hot that day and there was no breeze coming in through the window, there was a towerfan but that room can get quite hot so only suggestion maybe a a few more fans or even AC. Nut again not a negative, just a suggestion.

The owner Raj was waiting for us when we arrived to help us park, show us around the accommodation and get us settled. He even got us a cold drink to get the weekend started! Breakfast voucher for a fiver covered us for a lovely fry up at the local cafe the next day. Central location means you can stroll into town, and there’s a fabulous microbrewery about 5 mins away. Fabulous family-run guesthouse that’s great value and where you’re well looked after. Can highly recommend and will stay there again next time I visit.

Great host. Great value. Great location. What’s not to like?

We were welcomed very warmly on arrival. The room was clean, and had everything we needed for a night of sleep after a long day of travel (trans-Atlantic flight and then a train to Reading). Walking distance to the train station and everything downtown. Quiet too. Decent basic accommodation.

The property is starting to show its age a bit and could use with a bit of updating, notably in the washrooms.

I booked a room at Cavendish Lodge very last minute whilst attending a part time university course. Raj the owner was extremely friendly and welcoming and showed me around the room and facilities. He couldn't do enough to help! I instantly felt at ease and comfortable in the room. The room itself was nicely decorated, clean and fresh. The bathroom is shared but is well equipped with everything you'd possibly need. Having a fridge in the room was a bonus as well as tea/coffee making facilities. Close to both the town centre and train station.

It was clean comfortable and looked absolutely amazing the set up had everything you need if we had forgotten something you could almost guarantee this place has it for you . Me and my friends were so happy and the beds were so comfortable as well it was spacious and had microwave and all those little bits we really enjoyed staying and will definitely stay again the owner should be extremely proud of himself for making this property feel like a home .

Nothing to not like everything amazing honestly no faults at all was an amazing and comfortable stay defo will tell everyone i know about this place !!!!

Raj is the perfect host - friendly and personable, and the very soul of hospitality. He thought of every tiny detail to make our stay pleasant and comfortable. The room was quiet, flawlessly clean and well-equipped with everything we needed. And the restaurant that he recommended was equally brilliant. We had a splendid meal, followed by a splendid sleep - a memorably wonderful stopover in Reading. I would recommend it highly to any traveller.

The stairs to get to the bathroom were a little bit of a challenge, especially to my sister, who is older than I am. But that is only to be expected in an old Victorian house!

The owner was exceptionally friendly and gave me a very thorough description of the facilities and how everything worked. The room was clean and tidy but relatively small. The bed was very comfortable - I had a good night's sleep

It was slightly difficult to find and the outside of the building didn't look great but the owner gave me his contact number which meant that he was quickly on hand to show me the entrance.

Raj is a very friendly and helpful host, he thinks of everything, extras for things you've forgotten, hairdryer, ironing facilities, extra bathmats... The room was clean and tidy. The bed was very comfortable. There was both heating and fans so you could have the room at the best temperature for you. There are only four rooms so it's not too busy and there was no noise from other people. It is only a two minute walk to the river where you can walk for miles, this was very pretty,

Well, I'm afraid there's no getting round the shared bathroom facilities, which feels slightly more like a camping experience even though they were very clean and tidy.

The owner/manager was so friendly and helpful and gave me all the information I needed up front. Nothing was too much trouble and it was like chatting with a good friend, rather than a person I had just met. The room was clean, comfortable and my twin had a choice of spring or memory foam mattress to select from. Everything had been thought of for a great stay and the recommendation I got for a dinner location was excellent too. I really enjoyed my visit.

A little more information about parking prior to arrival would have been useful but not 100% necessary. I found a local place to park and the owner was able to help with the necessary permit on arrival at the Lodge.

An unpreposessing entrance but inside it is clean and comfortable. Comfortably furnished and lots of little extras to make it homely, fridge, tea/coffee making facilities, plugs, mirrors, bedside tables, nice linen etc. Quiet in bedroom considering youre on a main road

Bathrooms are communal but very clean and well kept
