Really great stay. I chose purely on price. I needed to be in Oxford for a couple of days and definitely didn’t want to pay several hundred pounds for a room. The Premier Inns for some reason were expensive on the days I was travelling. The Duke of Marlborough offered a competitively priced offering and it was rated well. I am really glad I chose it. Good size, comfortable room. Bathroom with a bath and a very comfortable bed. I slept really well. Very quiet even though the place was busy. Staff were fantastic. Very friendly and efficient. The food was also delicious. Good choice at breakfast. Well cooked and nice quality. Evening meal was great too.

Good communication prior to visit. Warm welcome in inviting reception bar area. We arrived early but our room was ready for us. Dinner menu had good choices and a reasonable wine menu. Prompt service of drinks and food and bill. Breakfast was superb. Excellent choices of hot and cold and bottomless coffee! ALL the staff were friendly and helpful. Room was immaculate. Lovely big white fluffy towels far superior to other more expensive hotels!! Plenty of parking next to rooms. Lovely gardens and outside seated areas for dinner and drinks.

Everything was more than satisfactory. I would not hesitate to recommend the Duke of Marlborough. I will certainly be staying here again if available when I next visit the area.

Lovely old pub, plenty of outdoor seating, good large car park. great location for Woodstock/Blenheim/Oxford/Chipping Norton. Convenient and regular bus service right on doorstep. Very helpful, friendly and cheerful staff. Good pub grub nothing fancy but very acceptable. Good breakfast. Room/bathroom was spotlessly clean. Good value for money, I’ve stayed in far more expensive places that haven’t been as good!

The room was extremely hot and stuffy due to the very hot weather and no air conditioning. However there was a fan which helped to some extent. Also the bathroom although spotlessly clean could really do with a makeover… the decor and panelling has definitely seen better days but that’s me being really critical.

Location excellent to visit Blenheim Palace. It's approximately a 10 minute car drive away. There is also bus stop opposite into Woodstock. We also visited Bampton. A village in which some of the series Downton Abbey was filmed and Burford, another Cottswold Village. Both approx 30 minutes drive away. The rooms are in an annexe which may not suit everyone but, other than a noisy radiator, was peaceful. Plenty of car parking. Plenty of choice for breakfast. Check in was excellent. We were allowed an early checkin so we were able to have coffee before heading off to the Palace. The venue is a restaurant, but didn't have a meal this time. Would definitely stay again.

The rooms were large with a big king sized bed which was very comfortable. My brother and I had rooms next to one another so we each had lots of space. There was a kettle, coffee, chocolate, tea and biscuits left in the room. I had fish for my evening meal and it was lovely and there was a good selection for breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Nothing really - although I was a little nervous in the shower. There was a grab rail at the end of the bath but it could have done with one nearer to the shower - or perhaps a slip mat.

The food was really nice, we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The starter that we shared was a good size and tasty and our evening meals (I had the venison pie and my wife had the salmon), were genuinely tasty, it was nice to have a meal out where the taste experience wasn’t generic. The staff were very attentive and pleasant, even when busy , we never felt like we had to “look around” to find someone. The room was nice and very quiet and clean.

I guess my only niggles, one of which is a subjective one is that the bed was a bit soft for us, but like I say, it’s subjective. The other is that the coffee was rather luke warm at breakfast. So yeah, not exactly deal-breakers!

Accessible for Blenheim Palace - brilliant!! Clean and good atmosphere. Friendly staff and good food

Undecided on the whole - 12.5% tip on food bill. I know it is stated on menu but do not really like being informed that it happens. Yes. You can take it off but in front of staff I think that’s a bit uncomfortable. The service was excellent and staff friendly but would prefer to make own tip on an individual basis. We chose to eat elsewhere on the second night based in this service charge issue.

We stayed here after a family friend's funeral. The pub had a lovely feel about it. The staff were very attentive. The room was quite large and provided all the amenities. We had biscuits, hot chocolate and water provided too which was most welcome. The bed was comfy. We also ate here in the evening a the food was lovely. We had breakfast in the morning which was well cooked and just enough. The staff were polite, friendly and on hand if we needed anything.

It could do with better glazing as we could hear the nearby traffic.

The breakfast was delicious and we enjoyed family time sitting and visiting a long time each morning over breakfast because the setting, food, and service were all so nice. The bus stop right outside the hotel Was an added bonus for us which we were not expecting. My parents were able to take the bus into Oxford to meet my daughter and me for dinner, allowing us to go in several hours ahead of them to enjoy the city while they rested.

My room did not have a hair dryer. All of the positive elements of staying at the Duke of Marlborough more than make up for this one thing though.

Excellent location for Blenheim, Woodstock and good parking facilities. Room clean and breakfast great. Lovely bar and resturant. Staff friendly helpful. I have stayed in lots of hotels in Woodstock over the past 4 years. Including the Bear that people rave about. I have to say the Duke of Marlborough is far better equipped and rooms are so much better in cleanliness and modern which is missing is so many of the other hotels. I would 100% recommend this hotel and I have already booked it again. 5 stars.
