Lovely old pub with lots of character, good service from the staff, very nice food in the restaurant & an excellent breakfast, beautiful & quiet location... Would definitely stay again.

Room was on ground floor of old stable block with a room above & noisy creaking floor was a bit annoying at times during the night. Room was ok for the price (paid £160 b+b non refundable deal) but was basic & had cracked sink basin, uneven loose, cracked tile floor in bathroom, blinds on door that did not block morning sunlight much so room was v bright early morning which made it difficult to sleep... also water temp in shower would not go lower than fully hot & appears the thermostatic valve not working...none of the above terrible faults, but together mean wouldn't stay again in that room!

Food, staff, and location were excellent. The included breakfast had a lot of menu options and all were prepared perfectly. Dinner at the pub was great, as well. The location is perfect for quiet country walks. The Inn provides thoughtfully-crafted trail maps, with several possible routes of varying distances and key points of interest along each route.

Although our room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom is due for an upgrade. Other rooms at the Inn have been updated more recently, and we would choose one of those for our next visit. Book early to get one of the updated rooms.

The location in the village was really lovely. The dinner was very well cooked and delicious . We could tell the chef was very adept,

The room was overpriced as the bathroom had a shower over the bath . No dressing gowns etc . Tea cups too small. Would have liked slightly more choice for dinner especially as we stayed two nights, and the fish dish I was hoping to have on the second night had been changed . On second night we were given a very uncomfortable table to sit at where benches were narrow and squashed Would have like fresh fruit for breakfast not frozen.

On arrival we had a very warm welcome then shown to our rooms. Our room was spacious ,spotlessly clean and light and airy. The bed was so comfortable and we had a great nights sleep, The countryside location was so peaceful and quite it just made for a totally restful night. We ate in the restaurant which had a good choice of dishes ,and the food was top rate as was the service by all the staff. Breakfast was equally as good with a very good selection of hot and cold options. The lady who served us went out her way to make sure we had what we needed, This beautiful inn is a little off the beaten track but makes a great base for visiting the Cotswolds. Recommend the Swan and would stay here again .

Couple of days at the Swan Inn, we haven't visited this pub for more than 40 years ! So much has changed ! Friendly helpful staff, lovely food and real ales. Different menu choices and lots of options for sitting outside, either in the main pub garden or across the road by the river. Very comfortable clean room ( Asthall ), and delicious freshly prepared breakfast. Great walks locally, options for short stroll or longer trek to Burford. The weather was exceptionally good for early April ! Very enjoyable stay !

Nothing really, it was just a very peaceful relaxing stay.

The room "Dabo" was exquisite. Very large, clean, well furnished, and with incredibly good looking wood arch ceiling. Warm, too, which is important considering location and building style. It felt luxurious and country at the same time. The location is superb, prototypical Cotswolds: green, isolated (yet just 10min from Burford and 20-25min from Bourton or Stow-on-the-Wald), river passing by, quiet and stone buildings in style. The accommodation quarters are separated from the pub, so no nuisance. The pub has excellent food choice. Perhaps additional 1 or 2 vegetarian options straight on the menu may help, but when I contacted them about my son who is vegetarian they offered some off the menu options if I wanted to. Very friendly and helpful. The English/Continental breakfast options were included (bizarrely, excluding cappuccino; but then again not exactly English countryside, is it?) and superb quality: jam, croissant, compotes, yoghurts. I am definitely going back! An extra touch: there is history there, too, with Royals, PMs, and foreign diplomats visiting in the past. It was a birthday treat for my wife and (as my son put) "I nailed it!"

Just an extra vegetarian option would do (even if I am not), but staff was ready to accommodate an out-of-the-menu option if needed.

Fabulous staff, mostly good food, excellent location and a traditional English pub feel. Nice log fires. Pretty well maintained and plenty of parking. View from our room was beautiful. Room was comfortable and very warm whilst it was snowing and frosty outside.

Food was a little variable - we very much enjoyed our first dinner there but we didn't like the second one we had. That was pheasant, which was overcooked and pretty tasteless. It came with a faggot which was too salty for either of us to eat. I also had a full English breakfast the first morning, and maybe it was because we were there towards the end of service, but it was overcooked and my poached eggs were hard. On the positive side, we had a very good dinner there (chicken Milanese for me, hake for my wife) and excellent starters and dessert.

Great location if visiting clarksons pub just up the road. It's a short drive or a 30 min walk. Converted stable block. Rooms were lovely. Clean and comfy. Great food and amazing full English breakfast. Lovely little find.

Disappointed with the early check out time of 10am on a Sunday given that we also had to rush breakfast to then get packed and out by 10 which was rigorously enforced by the girl behind the reception. Another couple who were at breakfast with us were also caught out by this and they asked for an extra 20 to 30 mins to pack and they got a very frosty reply and were given a firm no. It's a shame as Sunday mornings are normally quite lax in most other places. We would still go back though. Just something for the owners to consider.

Plenty of variety for breakfast and dinner. All cooked to perfection and well presented. Enjoyed everything we had. The staff couldn’t do enough for us and all very friendly. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable. There was plenty of storage which surprised us. Clean towels every day, another bonus. We don’t normally use the bathroom products supplied by the owners, but we did this time as they were made locally. Very quiet area, just as we like it. If we visit the Cotswolds, again, we will definitely book at the Swan Inn. Everything was just perfect.

There wasn’t anything that we disliked. Well, only one thing, the weather, could have been warmer.

Beautiful historic country inn set in a quiet picturesque Cotswold hamlet (we found the Mitford Sisters connections to the inn/area fascinating), which was very well presented and clearly very popular. A great base for exploring the various surrounding towns and villages. Our room in the stable block was clean and comfortable, and over-looked the spacious rear garden (other rooms are available within a cottage across the road). Great selection of cold and cooked breakfast options, and our evening dinner was lovely. Definitely a step up from your typical "pub grub", with a lovely menu of local/seasonal produce, and a plentiful wine/beer selection. Staff were very pleasant, welcoming and attentive.

The stable block had two storeys of rooms, so from our ground floor room you could sometimes hear noises from up above (and from the busy garden during the day). Mattress was rather on the firm side for us, but I realise that's just personal preference. The bantams in the garden may also provide an unnaturally early wake-up call! While the over-bath shower was good, the fact that it wasn't height adjustable meant that we, as taller people, had to stoop to get showered. Due to the popularity of the inn the car parking areas can become full quickly, so finding a suitable space can sometimes be tricky. Maybe an option for the owners to reserve several spaces for staying guests?
