We arrived at The Lamb Inn after a very long drive and we couldn’t have asked for a warmer welcome. They had a fire going in the reception / lounge area and check in was super fast. We had booked two rooms and both were super nice and comfortable. Exactly what you want when staying at such an old inn. All the staff were amazing. We enjoyed steak night at the pub on one evening and dinner at the main restaurant the second night. Both were great. The location is fantastic too; everything in walking distance and on your doorstep. If you want to venture a bit further into the Cotswolds there is Jeremy Clarkson‘s pub The Farmer’s Dog, Woodchester Valley vineyard or cute little villages like Stow on the Wold. We would definitely stay again! Thank you to everyone for making our stay so memorable.

everything was great

Fantastic location. Beautiful historic building in a wonderful setting.

The new manager needs to work on his volume! He was very friendly, but instead of clearing the many tables in the bar covered in empty classes etc, he stood chatting very loudly with a friend. Bad enough, but sadly he was swearing-away. Not what we expected, not acceptable, and slightly spoilt was should have been a nice quiet enjoyment of our beautiful surroundings, before heading up to our room. Oh, a fridge in the room would have been a big plus - especially for the price.

Room was large and comfortable. The bed was large and plush!! Bathroom was modern and spacious. Breakfast was delicious and custom-prepared quickly by a friendly staff. And the location was insanely good, right off the main drag in Burford, which is one of the best center-city shopping areas in the Cotswolds.

The room was a bit tired (carpeting especially), and was lacking a in-room mini fridge. The stairway to our room was almost dangerously steep, with a sign that rightfully warmed about hitting your head on the very tight ceiling. But hey, the building is 600 years old! So the charm mostly made up for the inconveniences.

Our room was very comfortable. Good selection of coffee and tea in room. Molton Brown products in the bathroom. Dining room was very relaxing, attention to detail, staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious with a very good choice. Breakfast very good, big selection, service friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Lounge areas were cozy and very comfortable with log burners a very relaxing atmosphere.

This is a lovely, historic inn with the expected uneven flooring, twists and turns. This is exactly what we expected and hoped for. Staff were very helpful about securing our bicycles in a safe location in the lovely courtyard. Our room was ample with a very nice modern bathroom. The beds and pillows were comfortable. Breakfast is served in the beautiful dining room with views of the courtyard, very charming! The food was good and ample. The inn is a couple of blocks from the main street with all the pubs and restaurants and shops.

If you like historic inns, nothing needed improving!

Very good service. Very attractive lounge areas with lit fires, making a cosy atmosphere. Comfortable, clean room. We ate in the restaurant and the food was excellent. Service and decor in the restaurant were also excellent.

The bathroom was very small and the room was not good value for the amount of money paid. Looking on the Booking.com website again I see that there are much better deals than the one I got, which seems odd given that I booked for a Monday night in February.!

The property is a beautifully preserved historic building. Plenty of character with an interesting history. I loved the back garden with plenty of comfortable seating to enjoy a Pimm’s in the sun.

The property is walking distance to burford Main Street. Sheep street is very quiet and the outside and inside of the property has plenty of character. I especially liked the back garden and the comfortable outdoor seating.

Excellent food and service, staff could not have been more attentive, gracious and friendly. I love the old quirky architecture and antique furnishings. Perfectly situated right off High Street for easy walking to all shops and restaurants.

It was always warm and stuffy in the room even with windows open as far as they could go. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was not working so our room stayed steamy.

Fabulous location with good parking at sister hotel next door. Very comfy bed , powerful shower and Moulton Brown toiletries. Well stocked tea coffee and biscuit tray . Beautiful garden with large tables and umbrellas. Breakfast very good . We were there for steak night which was delicious .

We stayed in The Priory bedroom and the carpet was very badly stained. Washbasin was very slow to empty.

Friendly staff, charm of the common parts, location, garden, breakfast--all were superb. We even left our phone charger in the room when we checked out and reception called us so we could pick it up after the walk they knew we were going on.

Everything was perfect though we're not fans of double beds, but it was all that was available, so we did go in with our eyes open.
