Location , service very good .

The property is suffering from a lack of TLC the room we stayed in was very comfortable but the door from the bedroom had a large split in the hardboard covering . The shower pipe work leaked and needed maintenance that stopped it functioning efficiently at the price point this was unacceptable in my opinion .

A lovely oldy-worldy hotel with a comfortable and cosy bar/restaurant area, great breakfast, staff superb. The room was great, with a four-poster bed and superb modern bath/shower room. Separate loo too, always a real bonus.

No hotel parking. We were so, so lucky when we arrived on the Friday afternoon as a car pulled out from its kerb-side place just as we were approaching it so we nipped in quick. Saturday was worse, with the town very busy and many cars just trawling the side roads for a space. The free car park was full, as were the side roads but after about 5 minutes driving around, again we struck gold as a car pulled out of its roadside spot just ahead of us. It's a real problem that needs sorting, perhaps by expanding the existing carpark.

We stayed for the weekend, and the hotel had a cozy atmosphere. The staff was very helpful and polite. Our room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was large and clean, featuring a bathtub—though unfortunately, we didn’t use it due to a visible stain that suggested it needed replacing. Dinner was lovely, especially the starters—the homemade hummus was the best I’ve ever had! The main course was decent as well. Breakfast was great—you can choose a hot meal, and there’s a spread of croissants, yogurt, juices, and cereals to pick from. The only downside was that our room was on the third floor, and the narrow stairs made going up and down a bit challenging. However, the location was perfect. Parking is a bit far, but if you're lucky, you might find a spot right in front.

Delicious breakfast and really friendly staff, and it's a beautiful, historic pub in a stunning location too. I'm only saddened that I didn't get the exact room I booked, as I was really looking forward to staying in the four-poster bedroom as a special treat! If I'm back down there hopefully I'll get the room I paid for!

The small cottage does get extremely cold, and it was very noisy, and it's based in the courtyard where customers drink so you're constantly passing customers. Customers could also look into the cottage which wasn't nice, so I did feel overlooked, so I had to put up a mock-curtain. And being a single woman, this made me very uncomfortable. It also didn't have the luxuries I really hoped for, which was included in the other room I had paid for: the cottage was more for self-catering so it lacked the essential needs and comforts. Carpets or rugs would be nice too just for comfort and warmth. I really do wish I'd had the other room, as I did travel from London to treat myself, so I wasn't as comfortable as I'd hoped for.

Breakfast and lovely person who served it. Best breakfast I think we've ever had in UK hotels. Buffet had beautiful fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal etc - and freshly baked croissants. As good as, if not better than we've had in France. Then I had eggs royal- very generous serving of smoked salmon with a perfectly poached egg (I had half portion, normally 2 eggs), my husband had a superb full English- all locally sourced products.

Booked this because it apparently had an Italian restaurant which had good reviews. But the hotel has recently taken over by new management and the restaurant now serves 'chip' meals, I.e. burgers, steaks, sausages etc. Such a shame - but we were recommended a very good gastro pub just around the corner so happy in the end.

Right on the high street in Burford, you can walk to all pubs, shops, cafe’s etc also close to other lovely villages worth visiting! Parking all along the main road with no issues at all. The hotel staff were friendly, helpful and professional. We stayed for my partners birthday and they left a lovely bottle of wine and birthday card in the room, such a thoughtful little touch!

The property is really nice, the bar/restaurant/breakfast area is gorgeous! No actual bad reviews but just a few little things to sort out in the Taynton room… a few loose floor tiles in the bathroom, and the windows had parts of the frame missing which made the room cold, but the hotel are awaiting replacements and an electric heater did the trick.

We liked the location and the view of the High Street from our window. We thought the room was tastefully decorated with a beautifully decorated bathroom. The breakfast was lovely too..

Although we liked the decor it seemed a bit 'tired'. The carpets on the stairs looked like they needed a hoover. There were ceiling cracks with damp stains in the hall at the stop of the stairs.

Hotel was old, full of charm and had a warm ambiance. Staff we fab, room was better than I expected, sumptuous, oldy world decor, 4 poster was so comfy. Breakfast was delicious and probably more than I should have eaten ! Parking was easy just off a side street, ate in a delicious restaurant a few doors up and enjoyed a roaring fire and pint of 6X in a pub around the corner.

Nothing !

I wasn't expecting a four poster, that was a bonus. Loved the shabby chic antique furnishings, including in the bathroom, so full of character. Would make a romantic stay for a honeymoon.

Nothing. Thought the lack of parking might be an issue, but I found free parking on the street outside every time, even though the town was reasonably busy.

Older Worldly - four poster bed - bathroom excellent and clean, charming courtyard, excellent breakfast options and full English was superb. Evening meal also great.

Sea bass advertised with ginger and lime but none detected by my taste. I reported this and chef's reply was that customers aren't keen on the ginger and lime. So I ask, then why advertise it on the menu? No discount offered.
