Stow is a terrific choice for a central place to stay in the Cotswolds. There are 9 roads leading out of Stow in all directions and it provides a lot of options that are not far for travel to see different towns and villages. The town itself also has a lot to offer in terms of restaurants and shops. Staff: The staff was friendly, helpful and professional. Our check-in was easy and any time we had a question, the staff was terrific! Room: The room, #21, was large, quiet and comfortable. The only downside to it was that it is at the top of the house (the attic) and had "wonky" stairs (very, very crooked and uneven) to get up to it. It did not bother us but those who might be less spry should not stay in this particular room. Parking: We drove and the parking was right behind the hotel. We also were able to park in the central square right in front of the hotel without issue. Location: Location in town could not have been better in the central square. Stow is quaint, with wonderful small shops to browse. It was one of our favorite places in the Cotswolds! Catholic Church: this was important to us for mass on Sunday. It is a short walk from the hotel. The church is Our Lady and St. Kenelm; it's a small church that is accessed by walking through two alleyways between the main roads. (The alleys were interesting in themselves!) The mass was truly wonderful with a welcoming, enthusiastic congregation and a well-spoken priest! Dining: I think the biggest surprise to us was how excellent the food was for breakfast and dinner. It was fantastic, especially dinner, and the service was terrific. The decor is simple and quirky so I guess we didn't expect the superb dining experience that we enjoyed. Our compliments to the chef(s)! Have the onion gruyere tart and steak, or squid or salmon - all amazing!

The staff was great, everyone was extremely friendly and welcoming, Bogdan especially was super helpful and gave us good tips about the area. The food was delicious, everything cooked to perfection (just wish there was MORE of it in every portion!) The room was large and comfortable, beautifully designed. Sure, I banged my head about 5 times on low hanging beams and door frames, but I had made my peace with it beforehand due to the architecture in the region, tall people are punished. I only have MINOR things I didn't like, which in the grand scheme of things can be forgiven thanks to everything else being incredibly good.
Bed mattress was comfortable, but felt too short (could be because of the large headrest) with my feet out of the bed generally, and I am not THAT tall (1.86m) :) The pillows could be better too, one was too flat, two were too fluffy ! Parking is down a very bad (small) piece of road that can damage the car.

Everything you could want or need immediately at your fingertips. Quaint but with modern creature comforts, they have literally thought of everything. Impeccable service all around and knowledgeable staff on all things Stow. The food, especially breakfast, was superb. We brought a large group to the lounge/bar after a family funeral and it was a great gathering with lovely cocktails. Thank you for turning an emotional and challenging trip into a bright spot full of warmth and fond memories for myself and my mom. We will be back soon for more! With gratitude, Sarah and Dot

Great comfy bed, room nice and clean, great bar staff
The evening meal we had was not very nice and the lady serving us was poor, she didn't speak to us, ask/tell us about the food etc. At £190 including wine we think it was over priced. There was a wardrobe in the room but no draws, so we had leave underwear etc. in our suitcase. Don't understand why as there is enough space in the room. Also, in the bathroom there is no where to put cosmetics, again enough room for an extra shelf or cabinet.

Our room was cozy and quaint. Just off the courtyard, we enjoyed our stay! Breakfast each morning was delicious! We loved the location right in the middle of town centre. Tamsyn, the hostess, was so lovely, friendly, and pleasant. Charlotte (and husband Richard) are great inn managers! Great location and we will be back! The staff helped us celebrate our 20th Anniversary with a surprise box of local chocolates. Such a nice gesture!
Nothing really disappointed, we would recommend to all!

Our room was very nice although it was quite snug. Having the radio on and playing Classic FM when we arrived set a very nice ambiance. Breakfast was very good and the service was excellent. On both nights we enjoyed a nightcap in the bar which was very nice.
The meal we had in the restaurant was a little disappointing. The service was not great with the server being very inexperienced and a little slapdash. In addition we had advised the restaurant of my partners allergies and felt they didn't really take note of this very well. When the meal came out there was an unexplained alternative to one of the elements which didn't provide reassurance to my partner of how the kitchen were preparing her food.

Great location on the Square. Nice patio in the back to enjoy a beverage. Dedicated parking area. Onsite restaurant was good. Our room was very quiet. All the comforts provided in the room, including a small refrigerator, and their troupe put a little bottle of milk there every day. Easy drive to many villages and sites
Nothing! However, if you have trouble managing a few steps, you may struggle. But that’s true throughout the Cotswolds

good room as described. Very good breakfasts - chose continental on 1st day and Englist breakfast on 2nd day. booked dinner on 2nd evening which was excellent. Complimentary drink at bar on first evening was very welcome.
Car park is very small (expected in small village) so a bit of manouevering required, although could have parked in free car park nearby. Would have liked to know before arrival.

fantastic location and wonderful period hotel. Staff was very helpful. Enjoyed our stay thoroughly.
The steps to and from the room were difficult to maneuver and especially trying to get suitcases up and down to and from the room. I would not stay in that room again even though the room itself was charming (period hewn beams everywhere). Also there's very little room to squeeze between the side of the large, comfortable bed on one side of the bed (the left side.)

The Old Stocks Inn, was just as we expected, from the photo’s and the description. It was ideally situated in the middle of Stow, within easy walking distance of all the shops, pubs and Cafes. It was also ideally situated to visit the surrounding villages. The staff were exceptional, they couldn’t do enough for you, we’d like to give a special ‘shout out’ to Richard and Amanda, who was great.
