Central location for Stow on the Wold. Spacious garden with plenty of seating. Attractive, large restaurant and bar. Hotel much bigger than we expected. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Great staff

Hotel parking was very limited. We chose a middle range room described as a cosy double - a better description would be tiny double. We’ve never stayed in such a small room. The ‘wardrobe’ was some coat hangers on hooks and drawers in a small bedside cabinet. Nowhere to store bags so moving around the bedroom was difficult. The biggest problem was the steep, narrow, winding staircase, which led to the bedrooms.

We really enjoyed the beautiful historic building and the delightful renovation of the room. The beds were very comfortable providing welcome extras such as tea/ coffee, a small jug of fresh milk on request, homemade biscuits and a fabulous breakfast, cooked to order. The location is perfect for those visitors wanting to explore Stow on the Wold.

We didn’t like having to waste a lot of our arrival time resolving the problem of the hi tech shower. The lady from reception was very helpful and finally discovered the problem was resetting the isolation switch. This could have been done well before our stay of course. We booked in August last year, nine months earlier. We also experienced a whole new level of frustration with an internet connection which was virtually non existent. We assume it was due to the distance of our room from the central area of the hotel. We could connect initially, but then it just dropped out.

Stayed several times before and had been very pleased.

Having booked directly with the hotel previously we booked this time through booking.com We were disappointed with our room. It was ‘in the lower’ bows of the hotel and was apparently the only room in hotel with the shower in the bath rather than a walk in. Food in the restaurant in the evening was good although service was very slow. Breakfast was fine. Despite the bedroom being disappointing to what we have had before we will return but will book direct to make sure we get what we like.

The room was nice and clean, lovely biscuits, great hairdryer, comfy bed but not much storage for clothes, ie; no wardrobe. But this wasn't a problem for us. Food was amazing, highly recommend a visit. There is a large garden at the back with plenty of seating and 3 huts, so they cater for all weathers. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Only minor things; they forgot to fill up our milk for the morning coffee. At our first meal they brought the wrong starter after we had waited for half an hour, which didn't go down well. We used the QR code on table outside to order a drink and it didn't work one time. And the parking. The town is very busy and has limited parking. Their car park is very small but you can park on the road as long as it's not permit-only or limited to 2 hours.

The location was excellent. The hotel has a car park, which is great because the town is busy. The restaurant is great, though it needs to book a table in advance because they are fully booked in the evening. Breakfast was great. Scott, the waiter is the best. He's friendly and he has a good word with everyone.

The room looked clean, but the carpet definitely needs a thorough vacuuming. Connecting to the WiFi was a bit tricky, but it can be done from the reception.

This hotel was booked at quite short notice for a night away with my girlfriend. It's right in the middle of town, so it's just a short walk away from pubs, cafes, antique shops, the cheese shop and all the delights of Stow. The room itself was very luxurious with beautiful decor and furnishings, the added bonus being a coffee machine and a couple of cookies sat on the dresser on our arrival. Wonderful views, a really comfy bed, and lots of space. Big bathroom, complete with a deep bath. The receptionist was warm and welcoming, whereas the bar man gave as good as he got in terms of banter on the evening.

I'm not sure there's anything that they could improve on.

We loved everything about our very brief stay at The Sheep from our first interaction on the phone with the reception to our last interaction as we said our goodbyes and promise of "we'll be back!" The room itself was stunning and the bed was perfect for a great night's sleep! We were late arriving and unfortunately we hadn't booked a table but the staff went out of their way to book us a table across the road at the Porch which incidentally offered us one of the best burgers we have had the pleasure of eating! Our room rate included breakfast which did not disappoint one bit!

We honestly couldn't find a negative other than we couldn't stay longer!

Perfect from the moment we arrived. Clean, inviting, so comfortable and had a great vibe! Lovely outdoor area too. Friendly staff ready to help with anything. Great food to cater for all tastes. So popular with tourists and locals alike that the restaurant is always full. Best to book a table, although residents are always accommodated even if it’s in the bar area, which we loved anyway.

Everything about this hotel spoke of quality, from the decor through the food to the service. I cannot fault our weekend at the Sheep. The staff couldn’t have been better, the location is superb. We had a minor issue with a bath plug which we reported just for the staff information, by the time we returned to the room in the afternoon it had been sorted, and that was on a Saturday. Well done, would definitely stay again.

Cosy, stylish and clean room. Felt like a luxurious stay, we had cookies on arrival and was really relaxing. Perfect location for exploring the Cotswolds. We paid for the breakfast in the morning and had a fun interaction with the host.

It can't be helped as we were staying in the pub but the room was very noisy at night as the walls and floors aren't sound proof. Again this is due to it being a lovely old building.
