We visited the Cotswolds for a few days and was seeking accommodation that was conveniently located to the train station at Moreton in Marsh. We chose correctly - the Bell Inn is extremely homely, our room was clean, spacious, well equipped with all the necessities. John the owner is always on hand to make you feel welcome - the fully cooked breakfast each morning was a great way to start our day exploring this amazing region. We were also fortunate to be staying on the weekend of the owners 10th anniversary celebrations...live music in the afternoon in the beer garden and courtyard and indoors in the evening...we had a fab time!

The Bell Inn was a perfect stay for this mother/daughter duo who were looking for an adventuresome weekend in the Cotswolds. We enjoyed the authentic accommodations and delicious breakfast, which was both yogurt with fruits, nuts , fresh fruit, local condiments, coffee or tea, toast with local jam, as well as a full English breakfast or scrambled eggs and salmon. The staff was wonderful and accommodated everything we needed including leaving our luggage upon arrival and departure. The rooms, bathroom, and food were perfect.
We stayed in room one which was above the outdoor dining area and the view was delightful. But they had a live entertainer on Saturday night who kept us up longer than we had desired as international travelers who were experiencing jet lag.

Room exceeded our expectations, was lovely. Beds were very soft for us but everyone to their own. The room was very big really nice and comfortable there were outside stairs to the room over the outside drinking area, although there was no load noise even late at night. Breakfast was first class but evenings the only thing on the menu was pizza on the one night we wanted a meal there. Staff were very obliging and as it was my partners 80th birthday i asked for something special and was really grateful for the lovely flowers in the box. This also added to the niceness of the room. I can really recommend this place to anyone.
Evening menu very limited. Really cant think of anything else.

This is a great traditional pub and the room (including the bed) was very comfortable. The pub is basic in some ways, but delightful. All the staff were exceptionally kind and friendly, going out of their way to be helpful. The breakfast was great and the pub happily stored our bags until we left the town later that day. Loved the resident Golden Doodle too. Would happily stay again.
Room was a rather too hot - this was very welcoming but a bit uncomfortable for a while - however, the radiators went off in the late evening so it was comfortable to sleep. Am sure this could be tweaked - but didn't get chance to mention it.

We had a wonderful 3 nights stay at this pub situated in Morton, it's a great central location to the Cotswolds and the owners John and Deborah & their staff made us feel very welcomed from the get go. The attention to detail in our very comfortable and clean room was second to none and the decor was lovely, we looked forward every morning to our scrumptious breakfasts! and we relaxed daily in the pub and beer gardens at the end of the day with a pint after a busy day of exploring! We had advice and recommendations on finding our way around on public transport and which places to visit, nothing was too much trouble and we will definitely be back! Thank you both so much for a very relaxing break!

Location was good for visiting the Cotswolds. The restaurant was very good and there were other good restaurants nearby. The patio is a nice place to sit. It was right outside the room, but noise was not a problem in the room. Nice to walk in the area. Room was very large. Parking was available in the market space in front, but is not available starting at 5:00 am on Tuesdays when they have the market.
Check in was very awkward. You check in at the bar and we had to stand there 10 or so minutes while the three bartenders served drinks. On a Saturday afternoon at 3, it was very busy, but they couldn’t check us in when we came by at 2 and it was less busy. The green emergency light in the room lights up the whole room rather than just the exit. They said it was required here. Be sure to pack a sleep mask if you can’t sleep with lights on.

Although the Bell Inn is a historic place, we were very pleasantly surprised by how contemporary and impeccably clean our upstairs room #2 was. The king bed was very comfortable and the bathroom nicely remodeled. There was even a Nespresso machine in the room. In the morning they served a lovely full English breakfast downstairs in the Pub area. Morton-in-Marsh has a direct train connection to London Paddington Station (1hr 42min), and the Bell Inn is only a 5 minute walk away from the station. The Morton-in-Marsh train station was also the pickup point at 9.30am the next morning for the 8 hour “Cotswold Day Tour” which we had booked with a company called “GoCotswolds” which we can highly recommend. We were only 13 people in the van, and Jason, our guide and driver, was outstanding and incredibly knowledgeable.
We loved everything

This was a very pleasant, down-to-earth, cozy and friendly place to stay. The pub has great, well-looked-after beer and good vibe--local people relaxing and having a nice time, and some very cute dogs. We felt very well looked after by the kind and polite staff. The room was fantastic--comfortable bed, very large for the price, with excellent, clean, up-to-date bathroom and great water pressure. The location in the middle of Moreton-in-Marsh is an ideal base. Finally, we really enjoyed the breakfast, which ticked all the boxes for a good full English.
There's a bit of noise in the room from the nearby beer garden in nice weather, but as long as you're not planning to go to bed extremely early, then this shouldn't be an issue.

The breakfast was cooked fresh to order between 8:30 -9:30, which can be a but late for a tour day or travel day but seems pretty standard in this type of accommodation across the UK. The publican and staff are friendly and cheerful and the resident dog is a cute big poodle who is super placid and friendly. LOVE the links to Tolkein and the old wooden ceiling beams and the beer garden is a legitimately lovely garden. Very easy walk to the local laundromat where we could do a wash and dry a fairly large load for ten pounds in under 90 mins. The family room had a proper bed not a sofa bed which was appreciated.
No mini fridge and not a large TV for the size of the room. Not cheap but the area is not cheap. Parking is not a problem in the afternoon but can be tight with lots of traffic in the day. This is typical of the area. The pub does not have designated customer parking but street parking is free.

Comfortable, friendly and good value in the Cotswolds. A small inn with 5 modern rooms with all the amenities. As a bonus, this inn was visited by the author J.R.R. Tolkien and was an inspiration to his writings as stated on a plaque at the front door. Our room had very comfortable beds and lovely linens, modern bathroom with a walk in shower. The rooms are located in a quiet location right off the garden and not close to the pub section to give you a good night sleep. The town is a sleepy town so most of those coming to this pub are locals and come in for a pint or 2 and therefore I don’t believe you would have worries of rowdy crowds to interrupt your sleep. The complimentary hot English breakfast they serve in the morning was so delicious and kept you going all day. Homemade jams and breads, yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit in addition to the hot breakfast items. We arrived on a Sunday and had reserved a table for Sunday roast. We had a lovely table set and ready for our arrival. The meal was so delicious and was huge! (We could have shared one). Highly recommend their roast. The owner, John, is very friendly, as are his staff. and it was a great place to end your day in the pub before settling down for the night in a beautiful room. I can highly recommend this inn, their staff and the location.
Nothing however we wish we could have stayed longer.
