We made a last minute booking to return to a village we hadn't been to in more than 20 years as part of our uk trip. The staff were friendly and welcoming and the room was comfortable. The bar food was excellent - Try the Sri Lankan option - and the setting convivial. Enjoyed a sound night's sleep before continuing on our adventure.
My only criticism was the water could have been warmer for my morning shower. It was tepid on full heat and with it being 5 degrees outside it was a rude awakening!

If you’re staying in the small village of Blockley this is your only hotel option. Most rooms are cabins to the side and rear of the hotel, not in the building. The cabins are definitely dated - in need of new furniture and paint, but most seriously new carpets (as this is a stop on the Cotswold way hiking trail, no surprise that the carpets see their share of muddy boots!). The bed was small, but comfortable, and there was plenty of hot water. The staff are superb, mostly Sri Lankan, and will do their best to make your stay there pleasant. The breakfast menu is limited, and the dinner menu has the usual pub fare expected in the UK - but also has a three course Sri Lankan curry menu that you really should try! For a night or two in the area, this is perfect. Bonus: you might find yourself in town when they are filming a Father Brown episode, which is what unexpectedly happened for me.

The only issues I had were the squeaky floor boards (it’s an old building) next time carpets are fitted it might be a good idea to screw the floor boards down. Tradesman trick. Parking was an issue, maybe just mention it in your advertising. At least we would know what to expect (your add says free parking) For us contracts guys breakfast start time is a little late. I paid for bed and breakfast but due to me leaving early I had no opportunity to try it. 7.00am would have helped. Other than that you have a lovely place and I would stay again, I’ll plan better so I can experience the breakfast. Thank You Gordon Hayes

Beautiful Cotswold village, traditional narrow streets makes you take your time and enjoy the surroundings. Great atmosphere, evening meal and breakfast all enjoyable and a good standard. The layout of the hotel and grounds both quaint and cosy.
The quaint and cosy can be problematic when trying to negotiate the entry and exit to the car park. Just managed to manoeuvre my Volvo XC90, so should be OK for must cars. Take your time and enjoy the experience. Is it just me but I also don't like having to rectify Booking.com spell check. I'm English reporting on an English location and want to use English not American.

Location is great, food was very good and the beer was top notch. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Generally in need of a refurb at least in our room. Being an old coaching inn the noise from other people wasn't too bad, slightly creaking floors etc. The car park needs careful entry as parking seems to be everywhere on the road outside and the entrance is very tight. A particular pain was the shower took a very very long time to empty in the morning, almost overflowing the tray, so only one of us could shower 😱. Surprisingly in this day and age you need to bring your hairdryer 😉 A welcome pack in the room would be appreciated too.

The hotel is in the heart of Blockley which is a lovely Cotswolds village. There was plenty of parking at the rear of the hotel. The room was perfectly adequate, though the bathroom is a little compact. The room was basic but clean and bright. We thoroughly enjoyed the full English breakfast and self serve toast, juice, hot drinks etc. We enjoyed the Sri Lankan set menu on our first night, which was excellent and on our second night we had the pleasure of their curry buffet. We tried everything and couldn't fault the food or service. The staff at the hotel were very attentive and friendly. Would definitely stay again if we were in the area.
Our shower didn't drain very well and although this didn't affect us particularly, you did end up paddling in the build up of water.

We had a two night stay here for my birthday. The hotel is very old with quirky stairs and creaky floorboards. It has so much character! The village it’s in is very pretty and worth a visit. The roads are narrow and bendy so perhaps not to be visited in anything too large? Having said that the odd lorry can get through when needed. The included breakfast is cooked well and nicely presented. Good quality bacon and sausages. The first morning the manager even brought a plate of sausage and bacon for our Greyhounds! We had one dinner there. We chose the Sri Lankan set meal. My husband the vegetarian option and I had the chicken. Both very tasty. All of the staff were very friendly and attentive but not in an unprofessional manor. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

It's a nice place to stay, room 10 where we stayed was very cosy 😊 the hotel has its little hidden gems inside making the stay enjoyable. The staff are great and can't help you enough. Would stay again that's for sure.
The only things I can say the food prices seem a bit high for things. More items on the menu would be good. There was some staining on the mattress in room 10 which we discovered when we removed the sheets as we left that really should of been noticed when they was last changed. Also would loved a bigger quilt The floor boards creek a lot but that gives the building character so not really a big deal to me. Could be annoying to others. And outside could do with some attention to cleaning a bit more. Overall it's tidy but small things need to be addressed. Overall good experience and would stay again

The hotel is very old & quirky and true to being a 16th century building. The room was a good size with a standard bathroom. Tea/coffee facilities, storage and a little tv. Bed was comfortable. Room was clean and staff are excellent and friendly. Parking is available, is a bit tight going through the arch though! Great location!
The bedroom is a little tired, just little things like broken curtain hooks which is an easy fix. Could do with a mirror on the dressing table but that’s just a preference. Our room was directly above the bar so was a good job we brought ear plugs, not an issue, noise stopped at 11pm. Plumbing makes a Faulty Towers style noise when next door rooms use facilities but just another quirk really!

The Crown Hotel is perfectly situated in the beautiful village of Blockley. We stayed for one night and took our dogs with us. The hotel gave us a room that was separate to the main building hotel and it had its own door to the outside which was extremely useful. The hotel bar welcomes dogs and the only place we couldn’t take them was the restaurant. The room was basic, but very clean, had a TV and the beds were very comfortable. A full English breakfast was included in the price and was extremely good value for money. The hotel has its own car parks at the back. It is a bit tight if you have a large vehicle, but this wasn’t a problem for us in a Volvo V40. When we first arrived the heating wasn’t working but this was very quickly rectified by the hotel staff. The hotel staff were very helpful, polite and friendly and we would definitely stay at The Crown again.
There was nothing we didn’t like.
