Everything was very nice; the breakfast was good, the Fig Restaurent was excellent; the rerstaurent staff last Thursday eve & Friday morning. The receptionist was great. The Spa was very good and the gardens were great
I was very upset to see that a discretionary 10% was added to my bill - I wanted to object but felt I did not want to make a fuss in front of my partner and other people at reception. If you want to charge more, then charge more .. a discretionary surcharge is appalling and will make it much more difficult to recommend you and come again. I think it was appalling - especially on room charges

A beautiful house with a lovely garden; a very comfortable room, quiet despite being at the front; good breakfast (we were out for dinner with friends)
Parts of the interior in need of redecoration; some members of staff more friendly and attentive than others

Loved our room with its quaint decor, space, overhead beams, view over the garden from the dormer windows, and luxurious-feeling bed. The gardens are spectacular with many places to sit and enjoy their beauty. I would recommend a summer visit just to make the most of the gardens. Our room was in a separate building from the public rooms, but while that may be an inconvenience in the rain, for us the annex was a plus because we looked out on the gardens. The restaurant was elegant with quality food. Reception was welcoming and helpful. The hotel is in the middle of the main street, which is beautiful. Plenty to explore on foot. It was a great base for ranging out into the Cotswolds. I would highly recommend a stay here. The hotel is absolutely charming.
We did not return to the restaurant for the second night because the waiter appeared to be suffering a heavy cough and was sharing it around, as were a couple of guests. Some basic hygiene training for the wait and kitchen staff might be helpful. We had trouble with our hot and cold water depending on the use in the other rooms. Issues with plumbing seem to be just a by-product of charming and quaint properties.

The dinner on the final night was exceptional, with great attention to detail- a delight! Our waiter, Johan, was well organised, treating the very new recruit fairly. This was served in The Fig dining room. Dinner on the first night served in the Bistro was good but service was slow. The bedroom overlooked the main street in Chipping Campden, was large with a sitting area. The bathroom was big with both bath and separate shower. Lots of hot water and good quality towels. The beautiful garden is large with plenty of quiet areas, ideal on a hot sunny day or evening. Breakfast on both days was good.
Breakfast on the first day was amazingly slow for us. Bacon and egg for me and porridge for Angela took just over 40 minutes from ordering. Unfortunately several table were served before us even though we came down early to help avoid the rush. The breakfast staff could not cope very well with the numbers. However the food when it arrived was fine. Breakfast on the second day couldn’t have been quicker!

Great Location, decent parking at rear of hotel. Lovely gardens! Such friendly and helpful staff. Really good breakfast options. There was a wedding taking place in hotel on first night of our stay so we assumed it would be really noisy, but it wasn’t at all, which was much appreciated as we were up early the following morning.
The carpark was a little tricky to find, as we were just told it was ‘behind the hotel’, but we had to ask for more specifics as to find exactly how to find It as entrance is not at side of hotel- go to st. Catherine’s church and take road behind it. When checking in and out, it’s best to park kerbside on main street if you have heavy wheely cases, as garden path to carpark is a little uneven and has steps.

Lets start off by saying how excellent the staff were excellent. From the cleaners, to bar and restaurant areas, spa people and reception....maintenance too! Hotel is bang central in the village. Spa was really good. Afternoon tea was lovely. We had one issue when we have a fault arose in our room. We was moved and upgraded - just excellent. Spa area was lovely and relaxing and again all of the staff were great. Beautiful gardens. We parked at the spa for the hotel. The sister hotel (the Noel arms - just over the road) does excellent food and have a cozy bar. I'd recommend.
The only thing that I could think of - Was that the hotel in a few places just needs a bit of TLC. It is an old large building. Just in places the decor could do with a touch up. Only a very minor point though.

Fantastic location as a base for exploring the Cotswolds. Exceptional boutique hotel with lovely decor and private gardens. Just the Breakfast room and breakfast itself was a special experience. A cut above others. The suites have palatial bathrooms with stone tubs.
Hotel parking lot is at the far end of the gardens. Suggest dropping off the luggage at the front of the hotel before driving to the back. Also… if you like a little lively conversation at breakfast or dinner…. The refined library like atmosphere in the dining area may not suit you.

We loved the location the room and the restaurant. The staff was very attentive
When I booked the hotel it was for my partner that had a recent total hip replacement to use the spa . The day after my booking I received a phone call from the reception to book the spa in advance so I did book for 3 pm saturday .We arrived on saturday after a 2 hour drive looking forward to use the spa. Reception sent us to the spa to be told by the staff there that it was full and we had no reservation. The comment was " if you received a call from reception I understand why the message was lost in translation". We were supposed to have access to the Spa saturday and sunday so it was dissapointing .

We had a garden suite and it was definitely worth the splurge! The room and bathroom were both spacious and comfortable, just above the exquisite peaceful garden. Darren at reception was wonderful; professional, friendly, ever-helpful with directions, food recommendations, and best hike suggestion - he made our stay particularly special. Highly recommend this stay!
Hotel is amazing but dinner at the hotel bistro is presented as a fine dining experience (price to match) but the food was not great at all.

Stayed in the hot tub suite for one night and was very impressed. The suite itself was lovely. Had a nice open fire in the front room and the bedroom was massive with a very comfortable bed. The garden with the hot tub was great. Really worth the money. Breakfast was again brilliant, great menu choice as well as great selections of jams, pastries and drinks. We also ate in the restaurant for dinner and was really impressed with the food. The spa was also really good, with a lovely pool and steam room.
There was honestly nothing not to like.
