A quirky hotel, steeped in history perfectly located being central to all amenities, shops, restaurants. All walkable. Staff at the hotel were extremely welcoming, helpful, friendly - nothing was too much trouble. Liberty and Christina were delightful, always smiling, wanting to be of help - as were all the staff we met. Food was beautifully fresh, served quickly and was delicious. Exceptionally good breakfast, a huge range of choices including cooked items. The bedroom was small but well furnished. The shower room was a tight squeeze, but all in working order. The outside eating/drinking space right beside the shallow river was atmospheric, especially in the evenings.
There is nothing the hotel could do about this, but the parking both at the hotel and in the area is an enormous challenge. The number of tourists and day trippers means parking spots are scarce. We managed to secure the last space at the hotel and were afraid to drive anywhere as there would be nowhere to park when we returned. Sadly we had to cut our stay short, as a family emegency meant we had to leave earlier than planned.

Comfy bed, service was excellent and special location. We ate dinner in the pub and the pies were good and our daughter said best chicken schnitzel since she arrived in UK over a year ago. We had breakfast included, both hot and continental, which made for a great start to the day before we jetted off for a day cycling through the spectacular villages and countryside.
Bed was really comfortable but slight musty smell. Shower super hot and a little hard to get right (I’m really being picky as wasn’t that bad) Not 5 star but super cute, clean and comfortable in 5 star location

The hotel is situated in the heart of the town, surrounded by numerous restaurants and pubs that are easily accessible on foot. The staff is welcoming and accommodating. Additionally, there is a car park available, which is particularly convenient given the town's popularity and the difficulty of finding parking during peak times.
Our room (11) was situated adjacent to the kitchen air vent, which emitted a continuous hum from 8:30 AM until approximately 9:30 PM, coinciding with the kitchen's closing time for the evening. Additionally, we appreciated having the window open at night increasing the noise. There is a car park although small and the spaces are quickly taken additionally spaces are very tight making it difficult to park and unload.

The location is great, and our room looked out over the river. The room was clean and comfy. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful, they couldn'tdo enough for us. The food is really good. Breakfast and dinner were both very good. And served on hot plates. The bedding was spotless, and the king-size bed comfy
It is an old building but very quaint. The decor is shaby throughout. Paper peeling off the walls in the dining room. The room was very tired, peeling paint and the furniture was scuffed and very worn and the carpet is long overdue for replacement. I am not sure how they got a 4 stsr rating, its only a 3 star. Greene King, get this amazing property refurbished and quickly.

It was advertised with parking, we found out on arrival only 9 spaces yet 15 bedrooms. We were also told the staff park there! We had to move our car multiple times to various locations to avoid parking fine! We were told Friday at 6 the Manager would move their car so we could finally park without worrying! We were then told they wouldn’t move their car so car! It could a lot of stress as our car is quite big and expensive so didn’t want to park it just anywhere out of site! It ruined our breakfast on Saturday keeping an eye out for someone to move so we could park at the hotel!

Truly excellent, picturesque location. Staff friendly, particularly on arrival, which was nice. Superior room booked was spacious and comfortable with view over river at centre of village. Comfy bed. Restaurant serving a good range of pub based, unpretentious dishes at a reasonable cost. Nice bar area. Full English breakfast was very good. It was good to be able to park in the small car park - we were lucky in there being one space left on arrival. However, it's very tight, especially if other vehicles are SUVs, so car parking aids if fitted are certainly very useful here! So if driving, I'd recommend researching alternative parking places in the village before arrival to save angst if there are no spaces at the hotel. Access via an archway btw. I'd suggest you do a quick check for spaces on foot before committing the car.
Shower control and function in room needed a bit of maintenance. Warm only and a bit variable in temperature and flow. Manageable and acceptable for our one night though. Likewise various bits and bobs perhaps need a bit of TLC, and floorboards squeak a bit, but I'd say that adds to its character and personally we prefer that experience to say a generic 'multinational chain' atmosphere. To be clear though, we'd certainly stay again.

We loved the location, we had never stayed in the Cotswolds before, Bourton on the Water is just beautiful. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a shower room which was small but adequate. Perhaps some shelves to put toiletries on would be good. The hotel was tired in places, like the stair carpet, maybe needs replacing. At breakfast we had to ask for some things as they had run out so maybe the staff could fill up more quickly. But nothing to spoil our stay, just thought I would mention.

Breakfast each morning was worth it's weight in gold! Yummy and set us up for a day of exploring. Lovely central location great for newbies to the cotswolds like us. Asked on arrival if we wanted to book a table for dinner and after a long day of travelling that was very welcome not needing to worry about where we would be eating that evening. Clean room with good tea/coffee station which was filled up without us needing to be asked.
Not very clear on where parking was for the hotel no signs visible from road, so when we checked in we had already paid for car parking over night when we didn't need too. Reserve a space option and a sign would make this place even better to avoid other people having unnecessary parking charges.

The location was perfect, and our top room with a view to the water was more than we could have expected and was completely dreamy. Honestly, the best room in the house! The decor and the overall look of the hotel was exactly what we expected in the Cotswolds. Everything was clean and as good as we could expect for such an old hotel. We loved it!
The pillows and bed were too firm for mine and my husband comfort level. It was hard to sleep. However, the firmness could be perfect for someone else, so it's not really a true con. Admittedly, the music in the bar and restaurant (2010 party/ Top 20 type of vibe) were unexpected for a historical hotel in the Cotswolds and really took us out of the experience. Again, this could be a very personal thing for us :-)

We enjoyed our stay at this historic hotel. It is located at the most visited spot in this lovely town and it is fun to see all the visitors enjoying the green area around the river, with kids and dogs splashing in the cold river. Staff were very helpful in storing our bicycles in a safe shed. Our room was upstairs in an annex and, reflecting the very old nature of the old building, we had to duck to pass through the doorway. Our room was small, with twin beds set against the walls and a narrow space to reach the bathroom. There was a desk and a table, so it was comfortable enough. Breakfast was average, although service was a bit slow on our second day, with orders mixed up.
If you like historic inns, nothing could be better.
