Room was suitable with two singles, ensuite.

Mattress was uncomfortable with springs. Smokers were smoking outside the room and left the smell lingering in the room. Bathroom was not cleaned from previous occupants. Noise from the rooms above and next door were very apparent e.g. Footsteps, coughing, water flow.

We frequent the highwayman pub and its local to us, but this is the first time we've stayed over. It was a cosy, comfy room with tea and coffee facilities and an ensuite shower. A little noisy at bedtime. To be expected and didn't affect us. A lovely canal side sitting area outside. Food served. We enjoyed our stay, and Will the bar man was very friendly and attentive. Plenty of parking.

One tiny point which my be worth adding. .the back door side exit out in the morning (we were up and out early), has no path. It's grass and muddy. We got our footwear dirty and had to carry our cases over it, which were heavy, also slippery. Maybe a little path to the door would be an idea.

This hotel just exudes character and charm. You can truly feel its three centuries of history, and the stories that filled its walls. However, while you are never far from history in the Highwayman, this is a hotel with all the modern amenities you need. My room had two large, flatscreen televisions, coffee and tea-making facilities (with high quality tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided), hot and powerful shower, laundry facilities, and powerful Wi-Fi all over the property. The room was clean and fresh. Windows can be opened and, considering I stayed in summer, this provided a refreshing breeze throughout the day. Beds were extremely comfortable and I had enough pillows to sleep at a right angle, if I wished. The room was tastefully decorated and managed to retain the charm and heritage of the structure. Outside, one is met by the magnificent garden and outdoor dining area. Tidy grass but the hotel is surrounded by handsome trees and hedges, keeping you close to nature. The Oxford canal runs by and this is an excellent opportunity for an evening walk, or to sip a coffee while watching the pretty boats go past. What can I say about the staff? Nothing was too much for them. They were so obliging and ensured any need was met. They were also the friendliest and most welcoming people you are likely to meet. They knew I was in Oxford for a college interview, and so they were extreme encouraging, ensured my suit was was ironed, and made sure to wish me the best of luck on the morning of the interview. I selected the Highwayman not just because it was very fairly priced, but because I knew its location (far enough from the hustle and bustle while a short bus ride to Oxford) was just what I needed. It gave me a quiet location to take my mind off the stress of the interview, but a regular and quick bus into Oxford passing the hotel, so I could easily get to the college on the morning of the interview.

Great place ,booked as we were visiting Blenheim palace nearby. Friendly welcome , let us order food as kitchen was nearly ready to close when we arrived and then showed to our rooms whilst it was prepared. Nice , clean ,comfortable , warm and well appointed rooms equipped with everything you would need. The meal we had was nice , Well cooked and generous portions. The pub is a bit of a throw back but i mean that as massive compliment. Full of individual character ,very friendly people (both staff and the locals in the pub ) and really well kept beer . The bonus on top was there was a live singer who gently encouraged everyone to join in with him which mostly the whole pub did . Great night . Great atmosphere . Beautiful views of the canal where a new decking has just been built. Lovely breakfast, lots available, well cooked . We will definitely return,6 stars ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The room was a good size as was the shower room. Beds were comfortable. We had an evening meal there of fish, chips and peas which was very nice and good value for money. The staff were polite, friendly and very helpful - e.g pointing us in the right direction to get the bus into Oxford! Lovely outside area by the canal to sit and have a drink on a nice evening. Somewhere I would stay again if in the area.

Just a suggestion- but 1st night we were there it was extremely hot and even with the window open it was sticky so a fan in the room would have been nice.

A lot of condensation on the bedroom windows which is understandable as there is no double glazing but that did not effect our stay in the slightest. Our evening meal in the bar was a little overcooked but edible and again did not spoil our stay.

Ive just come back from here for the weekend and i must say what a lovely place it is, the canal is beautiful it would be even better in the summer time, my stay was perfect the room was bright and airy, very clean, the bed was super comfy and the food was divine defo recommend the full cooked breakfast the staff were also really nice and friendly always checking in to make sure everything was ok we had the pleasure of some folk singers on friday evening too, id give the highwaymen a 10/10 thank guys for a lovely experience hopefully we will be back for another stay in the summer 👍👌

Room was a good size, bed was comfortable, bathroom was a good size, bath and shower worked well. Room was clean, linen was excellent and towels were large! Breakfast was good as were the meals we had in the restaurant. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very dog friendly. We have stayed before and would stay again.

Would have liked a place to hang the shower head when using it.

Lovely position near the canal, so easy access for dog walks. We were made very welcome and the staff were all very friendly. The room size was great with plenty of space for our two dogs.

Just that the curtains are very light & thin so didn't block the street lights or early morning sun. No milk in the room for tea & coffee making, and nobody around to ask for some before 9am.

Very nice, comfortable rooms. Well decorated and furnished. Liked the extra touches…. tea/ coffee/ hot chocolate and biscuits! Ample parking. Convenient location for Blenheim palace.

Looked a little run down from the exterior. Disappointing that there was no option to have an evening meal at the property due to the lack of a chef. Wasn’t asked if we would like breakfast and felt unlikely to be an option due to the very obvious lack of staff. Had to source breakfast elsewhere.
