Plenty of parking , staff were great , helpful and attentive. The Bar , dining and breakfast rooms were spacious and comfortable . Plenty of drinks choice , not too bad a price either . We had booked a table for dinner which was a wise decision as people were being turned away later as dining had reached its full capacity . We had fish and chips , it was ok , good portion . The bed was really comfortable and plenty of pillows . We stayed in a standard double room and it had everything we needed , no air con , which wasn’t needed the date we stayed but nice to be able to fully open the window unlike a lot of other places . The bathroom has clearly had a refurb recently and nice to get a large bath sheet unlike postage stamp size towels in other hotels ! Everything was really clean too . Breakfast was buffet style, I asked for poached eggs to order , came out perfectly cooked , plenty of choice both cooked and continental and coffee was very good. We sat out in the garden courtyard after breakfast , lovely and well kept .

This is an inn from the 1400s, thoroughly modernized, of course and added on to. So it had atmosphere, a painting in the lobby of the inn long ago. The breakfast was very good with a wide variety, from full English, to coco pops, fruit, coffee machine if you want a flat white. Staff were professional In demeanor. We even got advice on where to park when doing our browsing of charity shops. Best part—we had purchased some Wensleydale cheese, and they kept it in the refrigerator in Reception for us. Very nice!
Well, the hallway carpets needed cleaning, but that’s our livelihood, so I noticed that.

Room was on the ground floor and in the recent hot weather generally nice and cool. The hotel had supplied a fan but this was not needed. Would have liked to have had a fridge in the room. Food very good, especially dinner which we had on three nights. Well done to the chef. Breakfast was more hit and miss - the fruit was all tinned and we would have liked to have seen some chopped fresh fruit. A better quality of bread would have been nice to see. The hot food though limited was generally fine and we had no complaints. Special mention should be made of the staff, especially in the restaurant, who were friendly and helpful.
Bed could have been more comfortable but it all depends on individual’s preference. More fresh fruit at breakfast and a better selection of meats and cheese. The bread selection was poor and on one occasion we noticed mould however once pointed out the staff took immediate action to remedy the situation.

Lovely staff felt really welcomed by the friendly team, reception, restaurant staff and also the housekeepers had a smile on their faces! We stayed for our wedding anniversary, and the restaurant staff brought out a plate with a couple of chocolates/strawberry and a hand written happy anniversary message in chocolate. Was very thoughtful and made it a special way to end our meal. There was a nice outdoor area with some gardens which opened up to some fields… was great for my toddler to run about and let out some steam! We didn’t make use of it but the patio area in middle of property had plenty of seats and looked perfect for enjoying some drinks in the sun. Breakfast had a good selection to choose from, offered all the hot food options to help yourself to. Plus good choice of cereals/ toast/ yoghurts/ jams/ salami & cheese etc - we really enjoyed the breakfast was one of the highlights! Location - there isn’t anything to do in the immediate area and so you do need to drive out. Although we didn’t mind this. Hotel is close to Chipping Norton, about 15 minute drive where Jeremy Clasksons Diddly Squat farm is. Stayed during heatwave and a fan was provided it wasn’t too hot in the ground floor room where we stayed. Our room was at the back of the building away from the main road so was able to have the windows open without much noise disturbance. Room was clean a decent size and had been recently refurbished.
I was a little surprised that the cot provided didn’t have a cot mattress with it. Thankfully I brought one with me for our stay but I really think the hotel should consider providing this as a standard. Is much too hard for the little one to sleep on otherwise. Also we stayed on the ground floor - the room above us had really squeaky floor boards. We were kept awake until early hours of morning a couple of the nights with movement from the guests above us. I appreciate though that this isn’t the hotels fault and I must admit we didn’t hear any other guests the rooms had good soundproofing. Felt that some fresh fruit was lacking for the breakfast buffet - tinned fruit was on offer, and then some oranges and apples. A fruit salad maybe?

Great value in a good location to go and explore. Lovely bjg comfy bed in a deluxe room. Nothing was too much trouble all the staff were really helpful and friendly. Great cooked breakfast buffet. We had a room overlooking the courtyard which we were a little worried about initially as there were weddings both nights we were staying but we didn't need to worry, we slept really well both nights.
Booking.com wrongly assumed we would need two rooms as a couple with a baby, I had to call to check that we would actually be fine in one room which the hotel were quick to assure us would be fine.

The holt was in a good location, 1st initial thoughts was very good, downstairs bar area, restaurant and outside courtyard was beautiful, clean and tidy, plenty of comfortable seating areas with music playing in the back ground. We opted to have our evening meal at the restaurant, being out early and exploring made it easy for us to come back and eat at the hotel. Food was really good and staff were pleasant and friendly, we thought the bar prices were not too bad too. Our room was clean and tidy and the bed was comfortable, bathroom was ok, walk in shower, towels lovely and big and white. Breakfast was good, the usual English breakfast, a wide variety of cereals, brown & white bread for toast, fruit ( tinned)with yoghurt or Greek yoghurt option, small selection of continental - ham , cheese, croissant and fruit juices and tea and coffee.
There’s nothing that I didn’t like about the hotel, all the staff are extremely pleasant. Some of the decor is a little tired and even though the bathroom is clean the shower could do with a spray of mould spray ( it happens to most bathrooms) and it would be perfect!.

Beautiful hotel. Lovely big family room with 3 beds and loads of seating for all. Plenty of tea and coffee available. Bathroom had lots of fluffy big towels for everyone to use.
The booking.com confirmation said we could check in from 11am. However when we turned up at the hotel to check in they said this we couldn’t and would need to come back after 3pm. That’s a big difference in time. So we decided to go about our business. But it took wasted time out of our day. Also breakfast was included between 7 and 10. We went down at 9.30 and was told at 9.50 it was all being cleared away and get what we wanted now. Breakfast was cold by the time we ate it.

The location of the property was excellent for what we needed and is a short drive from many local attractions, though there is not much immediately around it.
That their dinner service ends at 7:45pm on a week night, but they don’t contact you to give you a heads up about this. (Which they easily could easily do in an automated message through booking.com after booking.) This meant when we arrived at 8pm with our 10 week old baby, tired after a long drive straight from work, we were told we had missed dinner! Fortunately as we’re not that late they kindly made an exception for us and still served us food. But just a warning about it for anyone else in future!

It was a beautiful quirky building. From the start the booking and communication was very efficient. The team members were all lovely and were happy to accommodate any requests we had with no hesitation (we required a mini fridge for our room). The price we paid was well worth it. The room we had was extremely spacious and decorated beautifully. The bed was the best and added a great nights sleep. The bathroom and shower were very clean. The staff at the restaurant / bar were absolutely friendly and lovely. Food was great too. We had breakfast and there were a great selection to choose from.
I have an allergy to dogs, so I’m not sure if the room we were in had hosted a dog there previously. So unfortunately this was the only thing that didn’t make it a 10/10 for me. But that’s a personal reason.

Nice hotel.some areas need attention. Staff are lovely, kind and polite.room good size.( normal double)kettle and tv.
Tired carpets.bathroom fittings black, shower door mouldy green( part at bottom of the door).Window dirty on the inside and out and didnt open,no air in the room, quite stuffy.TV picture kept dropping to digital squares, annoying when you're watching.Body fat on bath grouting. .lovely food! Outside tables hadn't been washed.Very dirty.Had to ask for ours to be wiped. Two others were just covered up with white table cloths.not good.Toilet brush is old bristle style, not hygienic enough.Should be flat silicone. No iron and board.
