Our room was spacious and open with good lighting from the large window. Even though we had neighbors with kids, the room was quiet (very quiet after the kids went to bed). The TV was reasonably sized with lots of channels including the NBA playoffs. The shower provided good flow with lots of hot water. The breakfast provided in the morning was standard hotel fare, but with good variety, and the presentation was fresh and clean and well laid out.

The workmanship in the shower area was sub par. The grouting and caulking was a bit sloppy, which contrasted poorly with the generally good fit and finish of the rest of the room. The air conditioner was effective, but a bit loud. Even so, it was quieter than most hotels that I have frequented.

Prices, cleanliness easily accessible

I originally booked a room for the Friday and Saturday night. A couple hours after completing the booking, I discovered I was leaving Saturday morning because my friend had to go to a funeral. I tried changing my reservations from Friday and Saturday night, one room to just Friday night, two rooms. I sent a message through the booking.com app and did not get a response. Upon checking in, I was told I have to go through booking.com to get that refund for that one night. Is there anyway I could get some help on this?

The pool is green color. There was no scent at all of chlorine which even in my own pool you get a hint of chlorine. Which makes me think that’s why the pool water was green looking. Even my granddaughters who don’t pass up a pool said it looked gross they didn’t want to get in. They are 9 and 10yrs old!

The property was clean and updated. The property is easy to access from the interstate. It is a short drive to campus.

It is not on the same exit off the interstate as the university. You to have to get on the interstate to go to campus. But it is very easy to access, the drive is less than 15 minutes, and traffic was never a problem. The hotels that were closer to campus also seemed difficult to access because there was no light and it was a busy street.

Location & reasonable price were the 2 main reasons for choosing this hotel. I liked the size of the hotel, not too big or too small. Close parking. Breakfast was fine; my only suggestion is that you offer 1-2 high protein/low carb options like Greek yogurt and fresh fruit like blueberries. I enjoyed a quiet, restful night & would stay here again when passing through.

The check-in and check-out experience was easy and exceeded my expectations. The young lady Mary that checked us in and the guy checked us out was very nice friendly and professional. The manager Misty was wonderful to. The room was very spacious and clean. The bed was very comfortable. They had a variety of selections for breakfast. We didn't eat anything because we were to busy for game day weekend. This hotel is a gem in a quiet location. This is now one of my favorite places to stay in Tuscaloosa.

Guests next door was a little noisy. You could hear them talking loudly in the room and hallways. You could hear the door when it slammed.

Absolutely every staff member that I met was with a smile. I was always greeted with respect and kindness. I loved house keeping they asked if I needed anything daily while leaving me to my privacy respectfully. The lady that checked me out this morning was just one of the most polite people i'd incountered in a long time. All in all the total experience was very welcoming with a good feeling of security. I will be having another visit. My sister was also told about this hotel and she immediately got a room as well.🫡👏🙂👍

The only thing that was a little frustrating was that the vent in the bathroom didn't work. And because there was no way for me to vent out the room after a shower. It was just a bit frustrating only because I didn't have a window to open for fresh air. But the over all experience was so well that it wasn't very bothersome.

I like the area because it's in a quiet area. Its located by several gas stations so you don't have to drive far for gas. Its located right off the interstate which is a plus. It's not to far from the University and several restaurants.

I do wish turkey meat products was served on the breakfast menu. They do not serve lunch or dinner. Although, I supply my own products I do wish toothpaste or mouthwash was included with the rooms.

Beautiful location and beautifully done, it has been our favourite hotel so far (we have been road tripping through the Southern states.) We got stuck for an extra night due to the weather and the manager, Paula, was very accommodating in assisting us to stay for an extra night. She was extremely friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. I would strongly recommend this hotel to travellers! We have loved every minute.

This property is truly a hidden gem in Tuscaloosa. We have stayed in many properties over the years that our son has been in school at UA and they have ranged from "OK" to "never again". I cannot say enough about this location. As much as everyone says, "Stay away from Skyland Blvd.", I can honestly say that they have not stayed at the Wingate. From the minute we walked in, the staff was beyond welcoming. The hotel was decorated in adorable Halloween decor and the two managers were some of the hardest-working women I have met in my life. They made sure that the breakfast buffet was always full and hot and they let guests know to come find them or front desk staff if they needed anything. Our room was spotless and actually smelled clean as did the entire property. The beds were extra-comfortable and the room came with the biggest TV I have ever seen in a hotel! This was also one of the first hotels I have stayed in since COVID that hotel staff came in and replaced towels and toiletries without being asked-what a nice surprise! I honestly wish that someone had told us about this property when our son was a freshman, and not preparing to graduate. OWe would have stayed here every visit!
