Beautiful property and excellent location, right in the heart of town. Was low season so pretty quiet all around. We had one of the larger rooms which was super spacious, including the bathroom. Swimming pool is perfect for hot summer days. Staff was always smiling, welcoming and accommodated us for a shorter stay.

Had an issue with our shower head that broke and it only got addressed after we left (we were there for a night only) and it wasn’t ideal. FYI: The rooms won’t be cleaned for longer stays unless you request it. Would be helpful to be notified about this upon checkin.

The property has been magnificently restored; it’s modern and sleek while still honoring its past. There is a gracious bar area on the ground level that is welcoming and stylish. The rooms are extremely clean and comfortable with especially large bathrooms. Natural materials like wood and concrete are used throughout the property to create a consistent aesthetic. The service was also great. What a find! From there it was an easy drive to Healdsburg or wherever you want to visit in the wine country.

I enjoyed the complimentary coffee and tea for each morning. We were offered complimentary Sangria's as well but never got around to having them. The bedroom was beautiful and the revamped interior gorgeous. Also, the air-conditioning was so important since we had a major heat wave. Our room stayed at a comfortable temperature our whole stay. I wish there was an easier way to get to enjoy the pool for longer hours since we got back late, but if I stay again I definitely want to try it out. Also, the restaurant across the street (the Golden Pig) was so nice. This is a great homebase to drive to Fort Bragg or go to Clear Lake/Ukiah even. I also loved the beautiful library, swanky bar, and old feeling of the historical building itself. The restaurants I recommend are Blue Bird (Breakfast) and The Golden Pig (farm to table). The hotel has a small cafe called The Poppy and its breakfast was delicious too (my partner had a breakfast sandwich and I had the protein bowl).

I wish the air-conditioner was a little softer for sleeping and the windows have curtains that let the morning sun through very bright. My partner had trouble sleeping due the light. You can turn your back away and not catch the light. Also the sink had some drainage issue, but other than that we loved our stay!

The hotel and grounds are absolutely incredible! Nice and modern inside, but with a warm atmosphere. Everything was so beautifully decorated and the grounds out back were so cool! The pool, fire pits, lounging areas, and bocce ball gave it a nice touch. My partner and I were also obsessed with house spacious the bathroom in our room was. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. There were also well crafted cocktails and a great selection of spirits. There is also a colorful history to the hotel which adds to its charm. It was at one point a brothel and is allegedly haunted by a previous owner and madame. What more could you want from roadside gem! We cannot wait to come back next time we are in the area. New favorite spot!

Great historic hotel, all staff friendly and helpful, loved the bar and the library, nice cozy pool area and decks. Delicious breakfast sandwich downstairs at Cafe Poppy. Pretty big room and huge bathroom with new toilet. Loved that they had flavored water downstairs and a bottle in the room.

It’s an old building so there are quirks like a slow draining sink and a fussy shower head.

It’s a great historic hotel, bags of character, one of the nicest hotels we stayed in on our route. The only downside is when they say the hotel is on Highway 101. It literally is on the highway the first night unfortunately was a bit like sleeping in the war zone. I thought at one point the ceiling was going to come down with the amount of lorries crashing by over the potholes during the night. The hotel were very understanding and moved us to a room at the back of the hotel, which was great. The facilities at the back include plenty of seating, swimming pool, the game French bowls as we would call it. I think the Americans have another name for it, but it was a great oasis behind the hotel to spend the day with a bottle of wine.

Unfortunately, the hotel is right on Highway 101 if you are at the front of the hotel be prepared for lots of noise all night with the lorries crashing down the street over the potholes.

Lovely hotel in a renovated building. Staff were great, room was clean and beautiful, giant bathroom. Nice surrounding with great options to eat and have a drink. Perfect spot for one night in the area !

The swimming pool was supposed to open at 9am but was still closed at 10am so we couldn’t enjoy before leaving… They didn’t have pack & play, which would have been useful and more comfortable while travelling with a toddler.

The property was really cool; historic, soaring 12’ ceilings, cool woodwork, beautiful bar, and a welcome cocktail, which gave us the opportunity to be social with the staff and other patrons. It was fun! The in- house cafe had a nice selection of protein dishes. The espresso was excellent, as was the regular coffee. IThere are a number of dining options within walking distance. The salt water pool was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. The owners must have spent a ton of money renovating this hotel to be an asset to the community. It’s gorgeous!

The shower head was directly out of the shower ceiling, rain shower type. This is way too tall and non adjustable for the average woman’s height. There was no place to hang your bathing suit to drip after swimming except on the one faucet handle, but we had two bathing suits! When we went to swim in the pool they had run out of towels. 🙁 My husband would have preferred a healthy breakfast carb with some whole grain and fiber in it, such as a blueberry bran muffin. Not just a white flour scone.

We loved the historical significance of the building itself coupled with the modern renovations which stayed true to the inn’s original character. There were so many vignettes of interest to explore. The room was very clean and comfortable. We enjoyed a complimentary welcome cocktail downstairs at the bar and soaked in the cooler weather outside on the back patio in the evening. It was all very lovely.

Sitting outside on the benches around the fire pit area in the evening, we were joined by quite a few rather large crawly bugs (water bugs? Roaches?) which eventually made us move our game of cards over to one of the high top patio tables instead. Not a big deal really, more of an inconvenience since we were so comfortable on the bench area with all the pillows and ambiance.

The hotel is very cute and quaint. The library and bar downstairs are comfortable. This vibe is very relaxing. We sat at the bar in the evening and enjoyed the company and conversation. The staff turned on the fire pit for us, and it was really relaxing. It was a perfect end to our day. The room was cute. Bed was comfortable. Water was hot. It would be nice if the water pressure was stronger, but I understand being an old building. We will definitely be back.

Would like stronger water pressure in the shower.
