Only ate one breakfast but there was a good variety and the attendant was great. That morning was a cheese omelet, empanada, and potatoes and I think a meat? Cereal, oatmeal, yogurt, fruit, juices, hard boiled eggs and waffles. Had a king suite that was very nice. Bed was great and lots of pillows. Everything was exceptional, including hot chocolate in lobby! The "gym" was a treadmill and elliptical with weights and weighted balls as well as bands. Sufficient for a workout. Staff were friendly and attentive. Parking was close and easy. Hotel location was perfect.

The sofa was an old fashioned one that looked good for the hotel style but was not comfortable with wood trim. The chair was fine. I did look at a standard room and the sofa in it was a normal one that looked like it would have been more comfortable. The toiletry bottles were hard to squeeze out the products but the actual products were fine - rosemary and mint scented.

My wife and I were taking a leisurely drive across Ohio and looking for a small town and quiet location to spend a little time. Upon a search, the Grand Hotel in Mt. Vernon popped up. This hotel was completely rebuilt from what was the original Curtis Inn that was built in the late 1800s and burned down in the 1940s. We love staying in older, historic hotels but the surprise with the Grand Hotel is it's really neither. The hotel looks and feels old, but it has modern plumbing, elevators, insulation, and windows. The temperature dropped to the single digits on our stay, but the room was toasty warm. The 24-hour coffee and tea service is a nice touch, as is the afternoon/ evening hot chocolate bar. The breakfast is great as they rotate several hot items daily, and always have the yogurt, cereal, breads, etc. Autumn was working when we stayed, and she was delightful to talk with. She gave us great information on the hotel and surrounding areas, as well as a couple of suggestions for dinner. Bill was working maintenance in the evening and took time out of his schedule to talk with us about the hotel history, restaurants, and other related topics. I traveled for many years on business, and it's rare to find a property that you feel comfortable and at home in. We felt appreciated as guests, and it's the personal touch that will bring us back for future stays.

Breakfast was delightful.. alot of choices. Room was very clean, nice, had what we needed for a great night's stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, usually not the case. Staff was very friendly, check in and out times were great, nice to not have to rush out of bed to get checked out Was the best overall hotel stay experience I have had in a long long time! Thankyou!

If I could critique anything it would be maybe shampoo, conditioner and body wash inside the shower instead of on the outside sink. I got in and then didn't have it, not realizing it was out there.

What a pleasant surprise! From the time we checked in, the staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and suggest local restaurants and tell us about the area. The breakfast was great- more choices than an average hotel breakfast, and the beds were very comfortable. Really big room, and the hotel felt very fancy for the price point. Great place to stay if visiting Kenyon College

We have never stayed at such beautiful hotel! The Victorian architecture and decor is perfect for such a pretty town. The food was wonderful. The staff was cordial. It was perfect. Our daughter, soon to be married, will be living in Mt Vernon, and we look forward to visiting often in the future. Thank you for a wonderful visit

The hotel has beautiful public areas, the room was very comfortable (best pillows ever experienced in a hotel!), and the complimentary breakfast had excellent variety (chorizo breakfast scramble! Biscuits and gravy! Waffles!)

I thought the room temperature was perfectly comfortable, but my daughter thought it was cold. Also, the Aveda bath products are lovely, but the soap contains an ingredient that makes it feel like you haven't washed it all the way off (something slippery and emollient?), which I didn't like the feel of.

They had hot drinks at reception that we appreciated so much while it was terribly cold. And it was good quality coffee!

We very much enjoyed the breakfast but we have dietary restrictions and can't eat pork so a chicken or turkey sausage option would have been appreciated.

Beautiful property, historic location, nice views, clean and comfortable rooms, great breakfast, very friendly staff. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels all over the world; this one easily ranks in the top 5. Just thoughtfully-executed, beautiful without being stuffy, and well-maintained. I like to give credit where credit is due, but I hope this place stays one of the best-kept secrets in central Ohio. Same with the town, actually. An unexpected gem in the Ohio countryside.

It was very clean, the staff was very kind, and the hotel was beautifully decorated. We only slept but the bathroom was also great, the bed was so comfy and they included a big fluffy blanket which we loved.

The only thing l, maybe put a microwave in the rooms .

It's a beautiful hotel. Bed was very comfy. Pillows were very good. Breakfast was actually pretty good except the coffee!!

I booked a DOUBLE QUEEN room and ended up with a KING with a sleep sofa. Normally wouldn't be a big deal but my husband and I were traveling with our adult son who needs a bed NOT a sleep sofa! The day of arrival I called to confirm that we would be checking in late (7pm) and confirmed two double queens and they said yes. We got to the hotel and they had given our two queen room away and we had a King with sofa. NOT COOL. Other than this mishap, the hotel was good and the front desk person was doing his best at being accommodating. Coffee was not good.
