The layout. It was just right. And the balcony was private and very large probably due to my room being a studio. I could not see the bay/boat dock but it did not matter. It was quiet and relaxing. Far enough away from tourist noise but close enough to walk or drive to eat mingle or enjoy the beautiful white sand beach

Better selection of TVZ CHANNELS; I was referred to this property by name and since it said Hotel I was caught off guard that there was not a lobby to check in. I initially used a third party and the website did not do a thorough job of explaining the check in and deposit. However when I called the Hotel Folly staff they took care of me. Kind, patient and professional.

The Location and cleanliness was brilliant we also loved how quiet and peaceful it was. The bed was comfortable as were the armchairs outside and the sofa inside. A nice sixed kitchenette was helpful along with a full size fridge freezer. Don't be put off by the appearance of the outside when you pull up it is lovely once inside.

We didn't like that it is described as a hotel when it is actually a small complex of apartments, we were expecting a lobby/reception area upon arrival. Therefore there is nobody on site to help you. Luckily there was another couple checking in that explained to us that you had to check your emails for a number to call, then upon paying your security deposit they will give you your room number and a personalised pin entry number. I also didn't like that there was no where to buy bottled water onsite. There was a filtered water and ice machine outside but it didn't look the cleanest and having been unwell earlier on on our visit to the States, we were advised to only drink bottled water.

Excellent location, we had the balcony room at the end and that was great as offered more privacy than the other standard balconies, the decor is great, was nice and quiet, fridge was essential,parking was perfect, a space reserved for each room meant there was room for our truck, everything you need for a couple nights on folly

The security deposit was abit awkward, having to do it over the phone didn’t feel that secure plus not everyone is travelling with a working US number that they can make calls with. Would have been better to include it in the price at booking instead of having to call a number and just pay someone $100. Plus we were up in the mountains when I booked where signal is non existent which made it quite awkward

It was very clean, quiet as we seemed to be the only guests, right on the marsh with beautiful views and wildlife sightings. Close walking distance to fun restaurants.

Our balcony overlooked a fairly busy parking lot of a public dock, but it wasn’t that bad. Just detracted from the view a little bit. And we could see and hear the traffic of Folly Rd. Pretty close to it but because the speed limit is only 25 mph, it wasn’t too terribly noisy either.

It was nice but very cold.

It was unique. We got there early to avoid traffic in the one road in. There is not a front desk service to have your luggage there early. They were able to accommodate us by letting us out our stuff there early. Keep that in mind when leaving. We were planning on leaving luggage at the front desk and having a beach day before we flew out. There was no front desk for thst. We ended up changing our flight to come home early. There is not much to do in Folley. We were quite disappointed.

Room was clean, cozy and quiet and well stocked. Patio facing marsh and marina was just right with an amazing sunset view and a lovely salty breeze coming in off the water.

People with dogs who bark at everything or bark non-stop due to separation anxiety and being left in the room with no human. Also, the property is next to a boat ramp which draws visitors after sundown and some of those visitors enjoy turning on spotlights and playing loud music … as if they were tailgating.

Nicely renovated. Large studio room. Nice bathroom. Cool modern decor. Microwave and full size fridge. Comfy couches inside and on the balcony. Pleasant and helpful 24 hour phone staff.

No in person staff which felt weird. No breakfast included. Did not appreciate the $50 cleaning fee (per night!) which we have never seen before and nearly made us cancel our reservation. The worst thing was the uncomfortable absolutely freezing room temperature with a thermostat that was much too complicated and we were unable to change until very late evening by accident. We still don’t know how we finally did it. No extra blankets and no where to ask for them. No tissue box which was a first for me. Tiny closet with only 2 hangers. Some problems using the digital key but the keys in the lockbox and the helpful phone person saved us.

The location is perfect - just off Center Street so it's convenient to everything but far enough down from the noise/activities that you can relax & peacefully enjoy the marsh & river views.

There wasn't any internet - there's a password to access the Wi-Fi but it actually never connected. I had planned to do some work while there and luckily had things I could work on offline. If you don't have an unlimited data plan or personal hotspot to use then it's something to consider if your stay will require Wi-Fi/internet access.

Free parking. Clean room. Kitchen, full fridge, and utensils. Easy access to folly and james island.

No one available when the door key pad messed up. Beeped super loud for 45 minutes. Had to sleep in car. It beeps super loud like a smoke alarm. Impossible to sleep through. But no one was available at that hour to come reset it. Woman i spoke to was very kind though and could tell she felt bad about the situation. Street lighting is very very bright coming through windows.

Nice place, obviously just renovated. Alle the amenities one would expect at a decent location. The beach and al lot of reastaurants are within easy walking distance. Beach chairs are availanble in the room and a hose to clean them is located just outside the door.

The hotel is not staffed, all contacts are via email and/or phone. While this may work fine for domestic tourists, it can prove challenging for foreign visitors. Even with an international data plan, it was not always easy to get specific information. Also, the sheer volume of (automated) emails is not helpful. Due to a smal error the door lock code was not included in our initial booking confirmation. It took quite a bit of time, a phone call and serieus shifting through the virtual mountain of emails to obtain the much needed info.
