Mike, the owner was so friendly and very helpful and accommodating. While the hotel is not brand new, you can see that they do what they can to keep it clean and comfortable for guests. Most important to me, it was clean, no bugs or funky smells. It was quiet and dark, we slept on the 2nd floor on the south side. Trains went by but didn't blow their whistles so it was a restful night.
I got cold at night but that's my fault for not turning up the heater.

Traveling from the Black Hills in South Dakota to the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado, this lodge is an oasis in the plains of Wyoming. Located just off the main highway artery 80, it is a quiet place to spend the night. The decorations in the lodge and the wooden sculptures in front of the lodge provide a nice 'western' atmosphere, and so was the room with the large handcrafted wooden bed. The manager's advice to have dinner at Buck's Sports Grill in the town center nearby was brilliant. We had excellent steaks and beers at a modest price in a friendly local setting. Both the lodge and the restaurant made us feel at home, and welcome, after a very long drive.
Breakfast was basic, but there are other breakfast places nearby as well as a Walmart.

The location worked well for a one night stop along I-80. Interesting driftwood sculptures outside. Price was lower than average because it IS an older motel. If you want newer, then expect to pay 50% more for your room. Beds were comfortable.
View from the room was the railroad yard. It was really interesting to watch however. There were three tracks and trains were moving both ways on them and they were really long trains. Windows looked like they could open, but the noise would have been noticeable. No breakfast and minimum choices nearby. Would not recommend for a multiple night stay.

Mike was extremely helpful and friendly. We had a tire blow out yearly in the day. When I called to tell him we would be getting in late, he stayed up to greet us to make sure everything was ok. True customer service at it's best!
It was just a little dated and old. But I would not say that bothered me much. I like supporting smaller Mom and Pops places. I did not expect the accommodations to be as updated =, like when you stay at a national chain Hotel.

You are getting a very old, outdated motel room with carpets that must be 30 years old for about the cheapest price you can find in Rawlins. That said, it's my second stay here so it's my go-to place in town. I wouldn't bring my wife here, but I don't mind that everything's old. It's like a vintage place we would have stayed at as kids in the 70's, complete with the sign out front advertising "RCA color TV." The AC and wifi work well, the beds are comfortable enough, and you get a hot shower. I sleep well here and it's very convenient as a traveler. I wish it was about $20 cheaper, but everything is inflated now.
You know what you are getting when you stay here so you can't really complain.

Location was perfect, no road traffic noise. there is a railroad that runs along the back but I think I only heard it once early in the morning, otherwise surprisingly very quiet. Felt safe, pet friendly, plenty of parking. I called ahead to give them an idea of what time I'd be checking out. Bed was comfortable, and for the price the place was exactly what you pay for in a kind way. It is a very outdated hotel and has its charm to it. I like the decor, and while it would be good for them to do some upgrades to the place, I would stay there again if looking for a basic place to get the rest I need while on the road.
would be nice to see it updated.

Room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Carpet was kinda yuck, but never go barefoot in a hotel. You could tell it’s an old hotel but very clean and comfortable. Great value for the money
It did have a slight strange odor. Nothing a few squirts of body spray didn’t fix.

I called ahead to let them know I was running way behind schedule, and Mike was super accommodating with a very late-night check-in after a long day of travel. He even wrote a personal thank you note which was waiting for me upon arrival! The customer service was more than I could ask for. The room was comfortable and the bed was cozy. The overall vibe of the Rowlins Western Lodge is quaint and inviting. I would definitely stay here again in the future if my travels bring me back through Wyoming!

An old motel, but very nicely updated, room was very nice, complete with all that was needed. Definitely an excellent value, as the price was much less and quality comparable to most other motels in Rawlins. Bonus was the wonderful wood sculptures out front///

I didn't expect my room to be a good as I thought. From the outside it looked as if it would be like the hotels in the movies. My bed was very "kingly"! This is the first hotel that I woke up and my body wasn't sore. The hotel was very quiet and EVERYTHING WORKED.
No coffee maker in the room...or maybe I didn't look hard enough for it.????
