Great location in a part of old Algiers where few hotels offer online booking. Cozy welcoming atmosphere in a "colonial era" building in the middle of everything old Algiers has to offer to a tourist. Accommodating staff. Wifi worked most of the time as did hot water. CNN and BBC available amongst dozens of Arabic language channels if that matters.
Rooms are small and bathrooms super compact. There seems to be no difference in categories (I booked deluxe, but got the same two twin beds as all rooms have). Thin walls...can be noisy. On my second sojourn there was an issue with towel availability and hot water disappeared on second evening. Breakfast was strictly continental and fruit was available on only one of my visits to the first floor cafe. A/C seems only seasonally available. I was charged before arrival via a Dubai entity for the price of the room, thus paying the official less amenable official exchange rate. Just to let others know...not an unreasonable practice given that online bookings are "official" and thus subject to comissions etc.

We loved our Stay at Hotel Afric - such a beautiful building, lovely architecture, fabulous staircase...and the owner and staff did everything they could to make our stay a great one! The breakfast was extensive (mostly bread and pastries, but delicious) - and the breakfast guy works so hard to make sure you are happy. The owner, Sofiane, went out of his way to make sure we were happy with our room and surroundings. Check out the rooftop! Amazing views, and a lovely chill set up to relax in. The Location in the casbah cannot be beat - so close to everything, so much atmosphere and just felt so special. Our home in Algiers! Thank you so much to all the staff, for everything

The location is really good. Right next to the casbah and vegetable and fruit market plus near the Martyr's Square and a street of cafes for evening food. It turned out to be very near to a metro entrance at the old market hall so great for getting about. Plus there is a breakfast to get you going in the morning. The balcony was lovely just to be able to go outside a bit. The building looks very attractive inside. Beautifully clean stairs.
Well we were warned about no lift. As luggage gets heavier over the trip it started to seem more of an issue to think about. En suite plumbing a little wonky. Wobbly basin, bit of water dripping from the ceiling. But it was ok.

My room was located on the 2nd floor, in which the room came with sockets to charge tech items, two towels were provided, soap/shampoo in small sachets was also provided. AC worked great. Inclusive breakfast was great, consisted of a vast variety of products, such as tea, coffee, milk, cereal, baguette, pastry, biscuits and the list goes on, overall it was a very filling breakfast and started as early as 6:30am, which was convenient on the days I had tours and also on the day I had to get up to reach the airport. The roof terrace views were incredible and the layout was very cozy, felt really comfortable there with panoramic views of the city and the bay. The hotel was a short walking distance from the local metro station. Room came with a small table and small chair, wall shelves and a few hangers to hang up clothing. Hot and cold water worked fine.
The sockets were away from my bed, so had to get up everytime to get my phone. Toilet was too small for my size, the sink was too close to the toilet. The toilet seat was broken and thus sitting on the toilet seat sometimes meant that the seat slipped off from its position. No lift in the property, so had to use the stairs to reach my room and roof terrace.

It is a very modest hotel, recently bought under renovations for better improvement of the facilities. The great side it is that is really central, so it makes your journey to main touristic attractions way easier. You can also get there from the airport using public transport, which isn't too hard if you manage to communicate with locals, or really trust you guts, like I did. I was lucky enough to cross paths with the owner, who made my stay way superior than what I was expecting. His genuine interest on my stay and enjoyment of my trip surely made the difference. On Sunday morning, last minute, I requested him if he could get someone of his trust to take me and my friend to Mausoleum of Mauritania, 1 hour drive, which he attended immediately by sending us a decent lovely man of name Belkassim, at a very honest price. Staying in this hotel, simple, but very accomodating, surely made my trip to Algeria unique. I will surely come back. And Afric Hotel will be my home in Algiers. Thank you for everything mr.Sofiane, everything was great. Vive Algerie, Vive Brasil!
You must understand that you get what you pay for. It is simple, clean, central, straightforward, but do not expect great luxuries. It will be great stay if your traveling on a budget, alone or with family. I have seen many families here, and the area is safe and under constant patrols to enhance safety. All in all, a good choice.

Super friendly and helpful staff which is making your stay as comfortable as possible. The location inside Algiers' old town, Casbah, unbeatable. It is possible to walk to many important sights in Algiers and if not, then staff at the reception is ordering taxis for you and even arranging tourist guides with affordable prices. Room was clean, there is hot water in shower and the view to the streets of Casbah was very nice. The hotel is recently renovated.
It is a bit noisy from time to time, but that's a problem of old buildings like that.

Exceptional value if you manage to get seaview room. During my 2 different visits both times I got one. This is very basic accommodation with good location. I would not book this if I would be spending time in the hotel but it’s great place to sleep.
Beds are a bit short, I’m 175 cm and barely fit. Toilet seat cover were missing and toilet light was not operating realiably (Toilet has a window so this was only an issue during the night so I forgot to report it next day)

The staff was very kind and did their best to accommodate us. The view we had over the entire city was, in a word, amazing. If you're a traveler who doesn’t need luxury and wants to experience the real Algiers, this is definitely the hotel for you. The hotel itself is a bit older, but that only adds to its charm and gives you a feeling you won’t get in any modern accommodation. The beds were comfortable, and the metro station was literally just around the corner.

Staff were unbelievably friendly, always happy to help! Rooms small but comfortable, with balconies that provide a great view onto the road or over the bay of Algiers. Location absolutely perfect, and the real highlight is the rooftop terrace, which offers an amazing view of the city and is the perfect place to relax
Wifi not brilliant in some parts of the hotel, but can move around and make it work. Bathroom quite small.

It was a lovely place to base ourselves while visiting the capital. We wanted a more authentic stay, rather than the larger chain hotels which you can find further from the centre. We had a bedroom overlooking the bay and it was appreciated. It was good to see the various members of the team when we returned from exploring. They are a great group who assisted with everything we needed. We wish to visit the desert on our next trip and we will be booking AFRIC when we do. It was ideal for us for our 5 night stay. We can wholly recommend them.
