Avoca is only a small town and this was the only place to stay, but it was quite a lovely place to stay any case. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable and they upgraded me to a king spa room, which is a bit bigger and has a spa. (Yeah big surprise I know) it's located at the end of the main street and easy to walk to everywhere, was quiet and for the cost - no complaints at all. Its an older property, what you expect for a small country town, but enjoyed the stay and the room and would stay again without hesitation

Nice garden - but a little bit more care with the overall upkeep of the garden would be nice. Dead pot plants at the front door and the entry seemed cluttered. but these are minor in the scheme of things. (And it was Summer!)

Convenient location wise to where our daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren were staying.

Sorry to see other guests chose not to park outside their own rooms and parked outside our room instead (we had the end room). Felt bad about possibly blocking them in when we parked outside our room for the convenience of loading our luggage into our car. Turns out we left before they required access to their vehicles but I did find it interesting on their choice of preferred parking spot. Might be a good idea to ask guests to park outside their own rooms. 🤷‍♀️

Check in was fast and simple. I was left alone for the duration of my stay which was great. The shower was tiny but water temp and pressure was great. Heating worked well. Bed was comfortable and extra blankets were available. There was a nice seating area in the garden to make use of the afternoon sun. Decor was dated but really clean. The motel is located on the main road but it was really quiet.

A toaster was provided but no plates or knives so breakfast was not on the table. Pillows were really hard. I was on a work zoom call on the first day when someone decided to hose down and brush the windows. It was clear that I was in the room but that did not deter them, it felt quite invasive and was loud enough that I had to reschedule the meeting.

This is an older motel, but we enjoy staying here. We have stayed in the past and always enjoyed it. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is clean and comfortable but a little dated. It is close to our family and is easy walking distance to most town treasures. We will definitely stay again.

The carpet in our room- Number 1 unit is heavily stained and looks dirty. I didn’t feel comfortable walking on it without shoes. It was the same as last time we stayed in unit 1! Different owners this time around though.

The property was cosy and comfortable. Plenty of room on our unit. The grounds were lovely. There was a small bbq area very clean too. There is also a double garage shed where there are cooking facilities and basic stuff for cooking and eating books a lounge area games. Perfect for large or small groups who want to share and eat together. It was also very clean and tidy. Hosts were friendly and welcoming. There is a small dairy next door for any supplies so convenient. Very quiet area. Would very much recommend Avoca motel.

Over Easter 2024 we stayed in several accom facilities around the Ballarat, Stawell, and Avoca region. These other motels could learn a lot about how a guest facility should look and feel like using Avoca Motel as an example. The room was really good compared to others - well appointed and clean. And the spa and shower were fantastic. The rates were also very good, and hosts Candice & Andy were very friendly and helpful. Will certainly stay there again when in the region.

How can one put this experience into words, Avoca Motel transcends the English language and maybe even French also. Out of all the places I have stayed, be it hotel, castle, hostel, stable, Avoca Motel stands head and shoulders above all the others, especially Windsor Castle or even Cheddar Gorge (google it). I've recommended it to absolutely everyone, including my Rabbi and my stepson Jason (who is normally Motel averse). Avoca Motel are extremely accommodating of requests, I was aghast when I realised I had not packed my 52 year old stepson Jason's photo of Commander Worf, as seen in Stark Trek, they printed out a photo of him and left it on the bed for us. thus averting a crisis. Thanks again guys!

That I would have to leave and go back to my family.

There was no breakfast. Rooms were clean and comfortable and there was a large shed/community room to socialise in

There was BBQ but no plates cutlery etc. There was nowhere to wash dishes except in your bathroom handbasin, no dishwash, cloth or tea towell. The large shed/community room was very good except the airconditioner did not work. The Managers/Owners were hardly onsite to ask questions. The whole place needs some TLC.

The lady at the front desk was very warm and welcoming. The location was great, Room was clean and roomy the bed was comfortable.

There was no hand soap or any soap in the bathroom. no Iron or ironing board available. Would be nice for the reception to have more information on places to visit around the area. the lady was kind enough to tell us where the information office was so that we could get a map of places of interest . When we were checking out there was no one at the office so that we could hand over the keys so had to leave the keys outside the office.

I can not speak too highly of this property and its owner. My wife was taken ill and we intended to drive home missing some bookings, but she improved to the point that a stay in Avoca seemed warranted. We arrived a day early hoping that our booking could be advanced. The owner was able to accommodate this and did so with great courtesy including an upgrade in the process. This is an ideal place to stay if you wish to visit the many wineries in the Pyrenees Region. Full marks to the Avoca Motel.

Unfortunately Avoca is suffering from ongoing closures, with the result that dining facilities are now rather restricted - but what was available was, for us, more than adequate.
