We loved the remote jungle setting amongst unexcavated Mayan ruins, with exotic birds and wildlife. Our cabin was very comfortable and was equipped with a pair of excellent hot showers. The staff were friendly and the guides very good.

The food was good but the portions far too large. We ended up splitting all our meals between two to avoid waste. We were not warned in advance about the roads to and from Gallon Jug, which were in very poor condition, with deep mud and huge potholes. A four-wheel drive vehicle with generous ground clearance is needed.

Absolutely horrific roads to get to the 40km in extreme conditions. 2 check points, ha e your reservation ready. The jacuzzi was cold. Extremely expensive for one night.

Location was amazing and the cottage was lovely (bathroom was huge!). We appreciated all the opportunities to learn more about the area and the flora and fauna. Guides were excellent.

The cost of the meals seemed to be far too much for what was served. It would have been nice to have some options for less expensive meals, especially at lunch, since there are no other options to eat elsewhere. Also would have been nice if some of the activities were included. For our three night stay, we basically doubled the cost of the room through meals and some activities.

Highlights included excursions with Kris, naturalist guide extraordinaire, whose expert knowledge of flora and fauna, combined with a flair for conveying that knowledge with warmth, humor, respect, and compassion make him among the top seven guides I've experienced in my lifetime; scrumptious meals (don't miss the homemade corn and flour tortillas, super fresh pico de gallo, Belizean specialities, fresh-squeezed juices, and granola), served by most personable, kind, and good-humored staff, in a quiet intimate setting; swimming in a fresh water pool, complete with waterfall; and watching the endangered ocellated turkeys, especially the male's mating ritual.

Housekeeping could have been more on top of things (i.e. I should not have had to ask for more TP or clean towels, when it was obvious those things needed replacing). Also, while many staff members exuded warmth and friendliness, others were more reserved and sometimes curt, and I wished they could have been more personable.

Nature location, super peaceful, no one else around. Villa very comfortable. Pool was great.

Mosquitos pretty rough even with lots of bug spray and lotion. Activities were somewhat limited.

The staff is there for you all time, the food restaurant is very good with local product , the rooms villa are beautifully built , and the manager welcomes you !! all is professional ! they arrange my transportation from san ignacio and as well my flight from gallon jug to san pedro !! It was excellent and i will come back

Nothing … all perfect

Chan Chich is the ideal destination for anyone who loves the jungle and the birds and animals that live in it. The staff is very knowledgeable and most helpful. Plus, the food is delicious!!

Can't mess with perfection

An incredible lodge in the midst of a former Mayan civilization. WIldlife, mammals and birds, everywhere and we even saw a crocodile. It was luxury in the jungle and the most peaceful spot we've been in in years, and we travel often!

The food and service were excellent, although the price was extremely high, with no other options. It wouldn't deter me from coming to Chan Chich again, but prices in USD were an indication.

Booked Chan Chich Lodge specifically because of its location in a wildlife preserve. Loved being surrounded by the jungle. Saw wildlife everywhere. Enjoyed having superb naturalists on hand to lead walks and they were clearly passionate about wildlife and Chan Chich.

Food was good except that the portions at dinner were a bit skimpy. A pet peeve of mine is to spend $45 for a meal and still be hungry. It's easy to provide a more filling meal by just providing bread with the meal. One roll was provided, but it was the smallest dinner roll that I've ever seen. I would compensate for this small deficiency by bringing a few snacks next time.

Agree with some of the comments that tours can get pricey especially when you travel with friends.
