Quirky appearance with a tropical feel in the surrounding gardens. Felt safe walking about 10 minutes down to the shopping area along the main road. Room was comfortable although the bed was small. Breakfast was very good. Ate in the restaurant twice for our evening dinner and we enjoyed the food served. The safari drive we took one morning was excellent thanks to our guide Andrik who was knowledgeable and obliging. The sunset cruise booked through The Old House was disappointing since the guide was most reluctant to explain anything or point things out unless she was asked a direct question.

Cold shower one morning . Some of the staff seemed unfriendly and bored with their work. Other staff were happier.

Such a nice place at an affordable price, comfortable beds, restaurant where you can watch birds and in the evening a warthog comes by, good breakfast and own pier at the river where the sunset boat cruise start, very convenient for travelers not on an organized tour. It's also very close to the center/shopping mall, where you can buy whatever you need and also change money (in front of the mall is a bank). For solo travellers going to Maun on bus, there is only 1 direct connection overnight. For day connection you have to change in Natta but it's a safe connection (long but with local fun).

Very nice location, nice hotel, wonderful staff, decent breakfast - and the best mosquito net in years, one that actually WORKS and is not super annoying like most of them ;) We also did the Sunset cruise from the hotel, and the guide had eagle's eyes, so even though I have been around and am a good spotter myself, he helped me see some rarer occurrences! Location is right in the middle of Kasane. Kasane to me (with plenty of Africa experience) is a safe place, like most everywhere in Botswana, by the way. Of course you need to be street-wise, but I know plenty of suburbs in European cities that are a lot less safe than Kasane.

The location was great. The room was spacious and looked and felt lovely.

There was a lamp and side table beside the bed closest to the bathroom; the lamp wasn’t plugged in, and there wasn’t a place to plug it or my electronics in. In a time where everyone has gadgets, there needs to be plenty of space for plugging things in, especially for International travellers who have big and bulky adapters. With the hot weather we had hoped to swim in the pool. Unfortunately it appeared very dirty, thus opted to sit in the sweltering heat. The staff was lovely, but after asking a few different questions we came to the conclusion that the staff wasn’t aware of the types of questions foreign travellers may have, or don’t feel empowered to give responses to guests. Either way, it tarnished our experience in this lovely B&B.

Set in a lush garden very close to the river with a nice dining area with good food well priced & small pool. We had the lift room. Which was spacious, beds we’re comfortable & bedding was good quality. You can book river & land safari trips into Chobe NP.

The loft room got very hot & as the AC was at one end behind the main bed it didn’t penetrate down to the other end where the 3 single beds were. Bathroom needs an upgrade & Shower needs replacing.

The Old House has been nicely renovated and looks colourful and modern now. Our room (no 8) was nicely decorated and had a nice little terrace looking into the little garden with a nice restaurant. The food (breakfast & dinner) was very good, the WiFi worked well too. Parking in front of the building (not secluded, but pretty safe). The highlight was the 3 hours boat tour in the afternoon. The hotel has 3 own boats, which are not so big, but ideal to get closer to the animals than the big boats. We saw hundreds of elephants, lots of buffalos, antelopes, hippos and crocodiles. It was a stunning experience, which visitors to Kasane should not miss! We can highly recommend the Old House!

Nothing to complain about

I have made many visits here over the past few years. The owner and staff are very pleasant, friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is scrummy too. The rooms are very attractive, very clean and very comfortable. It’s sits on the banks of the Chobe River and is an absolutely stunning setting! There are varies activities offered, river cruises, game drives ( the guides are very knowledgeable) trips to Victoria Falls etc.

Absolutely nothing not to like.

I have stayed at The Old House on a number of occasions and it is like returning to an old friend . You know that the rooms will be clean and comfortable. That the towels and bed linen will be fresh and of good quality and that the AC works . It’s location, on riverside , will always bring delights , whether that be sunset splendour , or the opportunity to sit and take in the beauty of the river environment. The restaurant and bar staff are always on good form and the food remains a big plus . The towels by the pool are a welcome addition , as are the multi plug sockets It’s also great having a Safari company working alongside the residence . I will be back .

It would be super to have a mini fridge in the rooms .

Property is well kept. Reception was very helpful in arranging afternoon boat cruise when I arrived and shuttle to airport for departure. Convenient to have on-site resto/bar. Also close to a cafe, Italian restaurant and Spar. Kalahari Tours 5 min walk away.

Wifi works well in only a small location outside main office. Little variety for breakfast (full English or cheese omelette).

The Old House is a good affordable option in Kasane, the city itself is not very appealing although I really limited myself walking to the supermarket. facilities are comfortable, with clean large room (they gave me a huge 6 person room as no availability), decent sized bath. Food is OK but otherwise limited eating options as walking along the main street at night is not appealingly safe with motor traffic. restaurant in garden so mosquitoes are unlimited. Their tours are good, especially the afternoon boat tour, very enjoyable experience. If considering game drive during the day, a full day may be a better option as they get deeper inside the park, the morning drive fairly disappointing after coming from Etosha and seeing a plethora of grazers and elephants, but they do have lions and cape buffaloes.
