I had a walk in book in and from the moment me and my granny arrived we felt so welcomed and we appreciated the ease of checking in and the support after a long day of travelling. The general manager Marcus was so accommodating constantly checking in and making sure everything was ok he really made our experience so much better. There were events on each night all of which were fully enjoyed and it gave us the perfect opportunity to meet new friends. I loved this stay would 100% come back again.

No problems

When I booked Mad Monkey, I was a bit worried about how it would turn out. We’re definitely not the party type, but options were limited close to New Year’s. I was pleasantly surprised—we got our own lovely bungalow (I expected just a double room) with great amenities like air conditioning and a bathroom with hot water. There were parties, but we couldn’t hear them at all, and the beach was incredible—much better than the Khao Tauch area. It exceeded my expectations!

The staff was completely uninterested and unhelpful. They weren’t rude, and I get that dealing with drunk 20-year-olds all day isn’t fun, but a little effort would have gone a long way.

The staff was amazing, kind and helpful. The location is good, but there isn't much too do around that bay apart from sun baking, swimming and relaxing on the beach (which is great, don't get me wrong eheh). It's a party hostel, so if you want calm, quiet and peace, it won't be for you. Otherwise it is great for a few drinks and meet people from around the world. And even party hard if you feel like it!

Had a little issue with some girls in the room bringing boys in our female dorm but that has nothing to do with hostel/management/staff, it's only a matter of people being disrespectful. Staff actually handled the matter very well and we appreciated it.

Great atmosphere with extremely friendly staff. Events were on every day and there was always something to do. Amazing reps and helpful staff made this a must go destination. The beachside location was amazing as well, only being a couple minute walk away from the ferry stop.

Completely out of the hostels control but poor weather meant we couldn’t do everything we wanted. That being said, the bar/communal area was a great place to shelter from the downpours.

the place itself was super nice and very social, everyone was so friendly and the beach was unreal , the food was also really good and thoroughly enjoyed all our meals, they would put the football on, do karaoke, beer olympics , sports competitions so there is always something to get involved in , the rooms were also really good and comfortable , the staff were so friendly especially reece and sima ( she taught us a card game that we now can’t stop playing) and they would just sit and chat with everyone and have a good time , 100% recommend , i would say to definitely book to stay longer as we only did 3 nights and we wish we stayed longer

this isn’t the hostels fault but be prepared with bug spray as you will get a lot of mosquito bites

Absolutely beautiful location! The staff were all very involved with the guests and made all the activities extra fun. We joined the snorkelling and fishing tour and had loads of fun with beautiful views and great vibes (shoutout to Nam and Kang for being the best boat crew). Would also 100% recommend beer olympics, Lauren really brought the party alive!

No hot water in the showers and very weak wifi that didn't reach our dorm. Also would've loved if they added a pool table.

I stayed in a private bungalow and the AC broke on the second night I stayed, but the staff there immediately gave me a new room with the AC on to rest until the AC in my room was repaired. For the food here I give a score of 10, I tried several salad menus here and they were all delicious. The BBQ that is held every night here is very delicious too and also healthy for the menu served.

The water from the shower and sink is cloudy, but it seems like all the places on this island don't have clear water like in the city so it's not Mad Monkey's fault.

Mad Monkey is a great place where to stay in Koh Rong. There are always great activities organised by the team (beach volleyball, pub crawl, boat trips…). The Mad Monkey team is absolutely amazing and always help people out. The improvement I could suggest is to put a remote control available to people in the dorms so that people can change the temperature of the air conditioning. I would definitely stay there again! :)

The hostel is next super well located next to the pier and by the beach. The vibe is insane, beach, games, party and super social. The hostel organises things every day such as boat tour for snorkeling and fishing, karaoke or volleyball games (amongst many others). I planed on staying 2 nights and I ended up 6 nights, it is the paradise. In the night you can see plancton (light) in the sea. Beds are confy, staf is amazing. Shoutout to my friend Davin, he has been fantastic!

The hostel food is a bit expensive compared to other places in Cambodia.

Great place to live the simple life by the beach. My private bungalow was very simple, but exactly as expected, and very clean. Appreciated the social activities organized everyday. The staff was always friendly and helpful -- thanks to Lauren and Nami and everyone else whose names I don't remember. It's not fancy but it's a wonderful hostel, a great choice for beachside fun with a social life and no frills. Enjoyed having lots of common areas to hang out, relax, make friends, enjoy the beach. Also the beach here was GREAT, very clean compared to other beaches I visited on the island.

Food from the restaurant was not too great. Usually they got my order wrong on the first try, and even when correct the food didn't taste good. I did enjoy the Green Goddess salad. Breakfast was so oily and rubbery (eggs and hashbrown) I couldn't eat it (but the staff was always so nice!). The hammocks on the private bungalow porches are hung too low so you cannot use them at all. Your body will sink flat to the floor even if you are a toddler. Please fix the hammocks or switch them out for for chairs.
