The location is great. It's close to the Forillon national Park and the Riviere-au-Renard which has a few great restaurants, Ultramar gas station and the decent size supermarket AMI. The youth hostel community spirit is a great experience. The facility is decent with a full fridge and freezer, toaster and an electric stove.

The cabin is super hot with the greenhouse effect during the heat wave. There are windows without a bug screen so it does not help. The site is not connected to city water and the water from the tap carries a strong smell of sulphur = rotten egg. The cabin has an outdoor outhouse which stinks. Luckily, there are a couple of flushable toilets close to the reception. The mattress and the pillow are unbearably hot and uncomfortable. I had a stiff neck after the first night of sleep and could barely sleep the rest of the stay. I have to bring my own towels and hairdryer despite having full electricity in the cabin. I was also told that water on site wasn't guaranteed drinkable so I had to carry my own bottled water over.

We received a warm welcome, the staff was fantastic! The cabin was truly charming, with a beautiful sea view, and the space itself was just lovely. At night, the sky put on the best free show of our entire trip. With zero light pollution, I was able to capture some incredible star photos, just for that experience alone, it was absolutely worth the price. That said, there were a few drawbacks to note.

There’s no private bathroom in the cabin, you need to walk outside to access a shared area with showers, toilets, and sinks. We were aware of this in advance, so that wasn’t an issue. The real problem was the condition of the shower facilities. The space is extremely cramped, uncomfortable, and poorly maintained. For the price we paid, these should honestly be torn down and rebuilt to be more spacious and hygienic. We were informed the water wasn’t potable — no problem, we brought our own. But there was a strong unpleasant smell from the water and drains, and the showers had visible mold, which made us very hesitant to use them. That was the dealbreaker. If they renovate the washroom area, this could easily become a 5-star stay. .

We were a bit cold during the night, so bring an extra blanket (or maybe it can be requested at the reception), but it was compensated by hearing the waves of the sea :)

Localisation, the setup of the camp within the woods was amazing. Intimacy was great and services and activities around the camping are nice.

Open toilet rooms letting insects is not amazing. Overall cleanliness was passable but lack of ways to dry our hands at the toilet's faucet was not great. Lights in the pathways are too bright and blind us in the dark. Either choose a dark red color or but a hat on the light to light the path without blinding people.

Beach was spectacular; cabins picturesque, and views gorgeous.

Nothing to dislike. One has to know what an auberge is. Some ignorant Americas expected conventional motel/hotel accommodations. They were shocked by common toilets, sinks and showers. I can’t really think what to do about that.

It's an eco lodge, it was perfect!

Everything else was great!

There was no freezer which was an issue since I needed to put my icepacks on ice in between travelling days.
